Aight here are my plans. I got a 15L (4 Gal) Sterilite tub that I want to convert into an all in one Cloner/Veging DWC Tub. I plan to Veg 4 clones in this tub until they are no more than 6 inches tall. Considering the small stature of the plant will the roots get big enough to get all tangled up in that time? The tub is about 18in(L)x12in(W)x7.5in(H). I have one 12in airstone on a 20gal topfin pump providing Oxygen. I hope thats enough. What do ya guys think?

You should be just fine.

Maybe this pic will help. Its my current Veg setup. I want to veg those clones untill they are like 6-8 inches tall. I hope the roots don't tangle up or my setup is doomed cuz I plan to transfer them to my flowering DWC tub. It will aslo double up as an aero cloner for my mothers to the left. Peace

I have only one plant in my DWC now, but if I tried to move my plant out of its resevoir lid-hole at this point, some of the roots nearest the net pot would be damaged by being compressed against the edges of the hole as I pulled it out. So be wary of that - but if you're moving them at 6", it is less likely to be a problem (fewer roots).
To prevent the roots of one plant from becoming entangled with the other plants' roots, just check on them daily, and, with fingers dampened with rez solution, gently tease apart any tangles.
I don't know if this would work, but if you have trouble this time, maybe you could rig a separator... 2 large sheets of plastic, each cut most of the way down the middle and fit together to form an X, and then drill a bazillion little holes in them to allow for rez flow. You'd need an airstone for each plant though, and roots could potentially grow into/thru the drilled holes...
Ah well. Just check 'em every day. *grin*

I was thinking recently of a res/root seperator idea too, and honestly I bet a setup similar to a dark room vent rig would work well.
Such as 3 seperate sheets of plastic that are ALMOST as wide as the grow tub, setup like this (top view)

This way the roots wouldnt become hopelessly entangled in the millions of little holes, or screen (if that idea was used), and it makes a LONG way to travel for the roots that do find their way around the first edge. Make sense?
Oh, and if it was a recirculating system, you'd want the water to come into the section furthest from the drain too I think.

As long as you keep an eye on the roots, and follow mackswells advice. you should be OK. The whole idea is that you can push the veg time of multiple plants, but you must be wary of root tangle. With that said. give it a try. Although I generally advise against multiple dwc vegging for the well being of new growers. I must admit, I multiple veg all the time in dwc to keep up with my perpetual grow...I run out of drip sites and have to put overflow into dwc tubs. goodluck
As long as you are doing clones...You could just veg 4-6 in a big tub...You can leave them in a tub for entire grow. Awhile back I grew 4 clones in a 4 top 10g tub and yielded around a 1/4lb.

Have you ever thought of trimming the roots? I have had success with trimming the roots as I too have a small clone/veg/flower hydro setup. The only difference that I noticed between a trimmed root clone and a left to grow root clone is that the trunk of the trimmed root clone fattened up. When you trim the longer roots it gives the shorter ones time to catch up to be able to soak up as much nutes as possible like the longer ones. With more of the root system spread and evenly lengthend, spell check, your clone will be able to obtain the maximum nutrient uptake, atleast thats my theory. I don't have the pics to prove that I have had success with trimming the roots, due to hard drive crash, but I am currently in the early stages of veg and I am about to trim my roots as soon as my ladies wake up. I will post some pics and updates if you like. This is just my experience, not what I advise, the choice is yours. Oh yeah and one more thing, NEVER EVER trim roots during flower. I experimented and the end results were not as great.
HAPPY GROWING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D

Aight check it, My roots didn' t tangle and my babies are growing. The 96W T5 is great real tight node growth and they are growing like champions. Here is my veg room. I took some clones 3 days ago (in plastic) so these plants were a bit bigger. Im very impressed with the T5 and my little bubbler.
