It's freaking 2006, who the hell would want an IUD anymore? I cant see why every woman wouldnt want the Nuva ring (sp). Best freaking birth control EVER in my opinion.

There are still women, Someuser, who can't take the hormones in Nuvaring or the pill or other hormonal methods like injections for various reasons reasons like a history of blood clots, their age, or a history or risk of certain types of cancer. The IUD still serves those ladies. But not if the little strings, which are really like wires, are sticking down too far and poking her partner and hurting him! Friendowl, if it felt like you were getting poked by the IUD itself and not the strings, your lady friend needs to go back to her doctor or clinic. Those devices sometimes spontaneously expel themselves--or at least come out partially--and that's not good. That happened to my younger sister.

I agree with what Birdgirl said, if the IUD is hurting the male partner, there is probably something wrong with it. It's in the uterus, so it shouldn't be coming in contact with a penis.

I had an IUD. The string did, indeed, poke my husband, I talked to the doctor and he trimmed it. Problem solved. I never liked the IUD, it made my periods longer and, in spite of what the (male) doctors said, I could feel it in me! However, it was effective and nonhormonal. Granny :stoned:

Ah I see. Well thank you for the info birdgirl you are forever informative

Obviously I never dated a woman who couldnt handle 'hormonal methods'... Plus I admit I'm an 'asshole' when it comes to gf's having periods... I much prefer them using the shot or nuvaring so that it can either be stopped or reduced... Periods suck so much... I'm sure more for the women but for us guys too!!! to not be able to have sex 84 days out of the year... Man, that just makes me want to cry :p

There isnt too many things I havent done and I indeed did have sex with a girl on her period... Periods themselves dont bother me, I'm not offended by a natural bodily function (except for throwing up, I do have a phobia with that) but the way it feels (period) is really nasty... I dont know how to describe it... It's like you know it is blood and not 'lub' that is all over you... It's a very different consistency (liquid wise)... Plus, while I know 'periods' dont smell great, when you mixed menstrual blood with normal vaginal lub (which has its own smell) it gets sooooo RANK. I mean, it is stomach turning and I say this as a guy who did a lot of things other people might think is nasty.

Anyhow, yeah 84 days is a lot of days out of a year that has 365 days... Isnt that like 1/4th of the ENTIRE year your girl cant fuck you? I mean, I'm not saying you got to fuck EVERY day (though that is nice with the right girl) but when you have a 1/4th of the year you cant screw that is a lot of situations where, just because of some annoying blood, you cant enjoy intercourse. I dunno, that bothers me when I cant have sex when I want to and the girl is equally in the mood.

That's why I'm like I cant believe every girl doesnt want to be on the nuvaring but I didnt know some girls couldnt handle hormonal b/c.

nuvaring doesnt stop you from having a period

Is that so Napolitana? I'm glad you're such an expert ;)

Yes nuvering can stop a period but NOT when used as typically directed. Typically a female inserts the ring for 3 weeks, removes it, menstruates, and then inserts a new one. However, if you insert a new one immediately after 3 weeks it is possible to stop or reduce your period.

I know this for a fact as my ex's ob/gyn told us in her office and in addition to reading it in the news. I get the feelings though that not a lot of doctors tell women this or maybe dont even know about it... You would think ob/gyn would but perhaps if you're primary health physician is just a regular MD they may not be as up-to-date.

Sweetheart, you bleed for a reason. While it's not necessarly unhealthy, it's not HEALTHY to not have your period.

BFA, I personally feel like it's unhealthy to not have a period, but I think a lot of doctors say it's ok to not have one for three months. Hence, the depo shot, which stops the period for three months at a time. I wouldn't like to do that, because it's unnatural but I don't think it is too bad for you.

it's not necessarily unhealthy to skip one or some (take that seasonale pill, however they spell it)... ppl skip their off week w hormone birth control for like, going on vacation for example. i wouldnt do it on the regular just cause my lover was 'an asshole' about periods. come on, someuser, you think she likes it or something? consider yourself lucky, for not getting a period yourself, and for getting some at all. haha;)

semi unrelated, but anyone think that girls syncing up their periods is an endorsement of same sex relations? otherwise they'd have off time for half the month. haha maybe just my left field thinking..

i wouldnt do it on the regular just cause my lover was 'an asshole' about periods. come on, someuser, you think she likes it or something?

My attitude is if it isnt unhealthy then it is inconsiderate on her part to have a period if she doesnt need to. If that makes me an 'asshole' so be it... God knows most of the women I date turn out to be 'bitches' so I guess we are two peas in a pod ;)

But I will point out, if it was indeed unhealthy then I would NEVER advocate it. I'm not saying I want her to stop her period at all costs no matter what even if it can hurt her... I'm not that kind of guy. I may not be a push over and I may not take a lot of female bullshit but I would never want anyone (man or women) to do something on my accord that could hurt them.

So if she is just not doing it cause she has the attitude that, "I'm just not going to do it for him', fuck her. I dont put up with that shit. That certainly isnt MY attitude in relationships... If my gf wanted me to do something that made her happy, within reason, I would. I wouldnt be a fucking cunt about it and just be like, 'no, I'm just not going to do it cause he wants me to'. I cant stand militant chicks like that.

Just my :twocents:

PS
And no I dont want to hear someone come back and say it probably isnt healthy or just post one or two 'studies' saying it 'might' not be healthy. If it truly isnt healthy and there is science behind it (not just some chicks opinions, no offense) that has a wide consensus then please let me know cause the last thing I want to do is encourage someone I care about to do something that might hurt them.

that's cool, user, i really don't think you're an asshole. (i didn't even say you were one). it sucks that nature puts you out for five days a month. i guess that's why they say 'mother nature'..must be female cause she's such a bitch. what did you ever do to deserve that. don't put up with that female bullshit. i prefer guys, too, dude.

all love man, i don't think you're a bad person or anything serious, i'm just acting up, mostly for my own amusement. (just like a woman)
