New Drug/Alcohol Policy at my job now allows random drug testing

I attended the make up meeting for my place of employment tonight, and one of the first topics they talked about was the revisions to the employee handbook. Then, my worst nightmare came true: one of the revisions they made was that as of January 1, 2007, they will be administering random drug tests to all employees!

When they first said that, I was raging inside, as it is my belief that random drug tests are in invasion of privacy and a way for employers to control what employees do outside of work, which is a violation of my personal rights. I realize that I live in Black Hawk County, Iowa, the number one meth producing county in Iowa, which is third in the nation in meth production and they want to keep the meth users and hard drug abusers from working in their homes, but they fail to realize that this also affects users of this harmless plant.

After that bomb was dropped, they also said that instead of a rehabilitation period being offered like in the previous policy, the rehab only applies if you test positive for alcohol, meaning you would have to be drunk at work, in which case you have a rehab period of 30 days. Testing positive for ANY drug results in immediate termination.

I'm sure many of you have had experiences with smoking while working for an employer that does randoms and I am looking to hear some. Quitting is not something that I really want to do, because me smoking marijuana does not affect my job performance or my overall quality of life in any way, nor do I smoke while I am at work. The test I would have to take if randomly selected is a urine test. I need your help to fight this injustice!

Get some quick fix 4.0. Synthetic urine. Might work, how suddenly do they plan on giving the randoms? You'd need just a bit of time to heat it up. I fucking hate drug tests man, i feel your pain.

I feel your pain! I am going through exactly the same thing with my job. :( I agree with you that it is an invasion of privacy and my personal smoking does not interfere with my job since I do not show up to work stoned.

I plan on quitting for a while and just drinking a lot to flush out my system. I thought about getting the synthetic urine but I'm afraid I won't have time to warm it. I seriously do not understand the "random" part of it. Can they just come over to you and demand you pee in a cup?

my roomate and good friend doesn't smoke, so i could probably get some of his urine. has anyone done any tests to see how long you have to heat urine to get it to 98? i know putting it under your taint or in your armpit or some other crevase is supposed to work, but how long does that actually take? i smoked a fat blunt just now in spite, and now, i must quit until i have a plan. i can't afford to lose my job.

So do you just carry them with you all of the time? Does your boss (or whoever administers the test) give you some time in advance before the test? How do you sneak it in the bathroom?

These things make me nervous. I'm just afraid I'll get caught trying to substitute and that would make it worse!

yeah ...i keep the quick fix rubber banded w/ 2 bands to prevent slidage to a reusable handwarmer. i have to put the handwarmer in a cloth cuz it heats up fast (like right away) and the quick fix heats up fast also. practice it / times can be different . i wear 2 socks on one foot with the junk in between.

so do you mix it before you go to the test or is it something you do while you are in the test? i know any test i have ever taken they listen to make sure you don't run water and spray the bowl blue so you can't use water out of there. please explain the entire process.

yeah its actually pretty easy and i was happy to figure it out I guess the hardest part is the fact i havent actually gotten one yet but you know what they say....get the temp right and you pass. if you got another question ill try and help

Since there is so much meth where you are, are you sure they are going to test for weed? A friend of mine worked in Las Vegas for a while, and when he went out there he didn't know anything about a drug test. The first day at the new job they took a hair sample and he figured he had lost the job, but it turns out they were testing for cocaine, meth, and lsd. The tolerance for marijuana in the workplace for this particular company must be high, but you never know... maybe they are just trying to weed out the tweakers?

they consider a drug anything that is scheduled according to the federal drug act of blah blah blah. it lists marijuana as something they test for in the handbook.

That certo trick doesn't work for everyone and when it does work it is usually because they drink a lot of fluids with it so in effect it is the dilution method. A 100% way to beat the test is to buy synthetic urine such as Quick Fix and keep it with you at all times. If they test you it can be ready in a few minutes to an hour. If you get your friend's clean urine it only lasts for 8-12 hours at room temp and you probably don't have a place at work to freeze it and then take it out and reheat without going unnoticed. Read the substitution thread on how to bring it and keep it to temp.

do you guys know if cranberry juice and home remidies like that have any impact whatsoever on getting your piss clean? is there any way to speed up your body's process of getting rid of the THC byproducts?

Aerobic exercise to some extent and soluble fiber to a lesser extent. Nothing else helps.
