When I think about alochol I instantly think of.. happiness. The world is a much better place when I'm tipsy. I'm a happy drunk I suppose.

'tame'? lol.. i dunno what that's supposed to mean, but they get to the point, i could only think of four diffrent ways anyone could think about it, which were: like it, hate it, don't care either way, or as said, depends person to person...

I chose depends on who's drinking it. Alcohol means celebration or relaxation to me. It's a social thing...in my opinion.

what about the ones who love it? not just "in moderation". i know more people who drink a fuckload, then people who drink in moderation, or people who think it's evil, or people who don't have an opinion. the poll options are onesided. if you can't see it i dunno how else to explain it mate.

I woulda put "in moderation" but that can mean so much, I mean, whats moderation? A drink a week? A drink a month? Getting drunk a few times a year or what?

I put other, 'cause I've no problem with it. People can use it as much as they want, I don't care for it much, not to say I've never drank and wont but its not my DOC. I do think its a substance that should be used with caution though, and drinking often isn't the smartest/healthiest thing to do, but some people roll that way and I'm fine with that.

shit i forgot that >.< i knew i was forgetting something, but i've been drinking (lmao) and couldn't put my finger on it....

edit: i'd say in moderation isn't nessicarily just how often, but how much... i mean if you told a doctor you drink every day, he'd think your an alcoholic, but you coulda just meant you have a beer when you get home from work... so i'd say, getting drunk anymore than 2-3x a week, makes you excluded from the 'in moderation' choice... i dunno about you, but i'd say getting drunk about a thrid to a half of the year, would make it a pretty regular thing....

I'm glad to hear some positive responses...as usually the majority opposes.

I like beer very very much, and think there is never a wrong time for beer (except maybe like 8AM, but hey it happens lol). Not so much hard shit, but depending on the situation and drink, maybe a little.

I like it sometimes. We were cleaning the kitchen today and I was looking through our collection that we haven't touched in a while. And I thought about how nice it was to fix a gin and sprite after work or school. I miss drinking... Now I just need to restock on sodas.

Anyone ever play "Passout"?

It's a board game from the 70s, I think, and it's a great game to play with friends and hard liquor. Kind of like monopoly, but you have to get 10 of these cards to win the game. The cards have huge tongue twisters on 'em, and they can get really funny.

Especially if you land up on the "Light Up" square, and replace a cigarette with a hit of that wacky tobaccy!

I suggest everyone buy this game.

But I only get DRUNK drunk about 3-4 times a year. As such, I've never thrown up, straight up passed out, or had a hangover. Even when drinking much more than my heavier male counterparts. I guess it's the Irish genes!

as with anything, the harmfullness of alcohol depends on who is drinking it. i suffered an intolerable early childhood with a raging alcoholic. alcoholism ruins lives, families, friendships, EVERYTHING. so i grew up absolutely loathing alcohol and anyone who drank.
but as i have matured, i see the benefit (if any at all) in a few drinks here and there. studies show a glass of red wine every day is beneficial to the heart, but its the alkaloids in fermented grapes, not the alcohol itself thats beneficial. i realize people are able to sit down and have glass of scotch to calm them. but honestly, how many people do you know are satisfied after one glass? i feel we lack self control when it comes to alcohol.
i still think it should be illegal on some levels such as selling it in restuarants and bars and grocery stores. honestly i think alcohol should be consumed in the comforts of one's home. alcohol abuse is america's number one drug problem and it can hurt everyone because of its availability and ho-hum status.
HOWEVER
i believe we as young americans drink to get drunk.this is what makes alchohol dangerous. you dont get run over by buzzed driver, but by drunk driver. buzzed teenagers dont set fire to thier homes, drunk teenagers do. but why do we get drunk?i think this is due to restrictions on alcohol in general. it becomes more enticing as it becomes less availible. and when we do get our hands on it, we push it to access to make up for the restrictions we have been carrying and abiding with angst and anger. as young people we experiment. we need to. but too many of us do not learn from our mistakes and we keep pushing ourselves over the edge until we have fallen completely.
i drink occasionally. maybe once or twice a week on a two-or three week cycle. honestly, after seeing what alcohol can do to us as a society,, i am wary of becoming my father and limiting myself. i like to drink, but i seldom get drunk. i drink until a certain poitn, when a certain feeling sers in. i give it time and monitor myself. then i stop. i dont get beligerent, i get tipsy. i can still enjoy parties but without puking. drunk people arent fun unless you are too. so i drink a little the put it down. i do this mostly out of fear, but partly out of self respect and responsibility.
i think alcohol, like pot, is not for everyone. it should be used responisbly and diligenltly and you should fist learn your limits and orient yourself with it before you move on full throttle into the realm of drunken stupors.
anyway, thats my rant.
so honestly i am contraticting myself

Yep, depends on who's doing the drinking. In moderation for people who can handle it, it's fine. I drink on infrequent occasions, and tonight was one of those nights I had two glasses of wine at our neighbors' cocktail party. Just enough. I don't get drunk any more. Haven't done that in years. I hate the hungover feeling and, for that matter, the calories. Also, I have uncles on both sides of my family who are/were quite heavy drinkers, and so I suspect I probably carry an addiction gene. I figure why court disaster in case I do?

I clicked other, I think it's ok in moderation but it does depend on who's drinking aswell...
I recently completly stopped drinking, things were going from bad to worse socially and physically....but more-so mentally, it really started fucking with my head...so thought it was probably the best thing to do.

I thought id miss it but I don't at all, i'm actually happier (although rather ill at the moment) but it's still early days...I also stopped smoking cigs which I have been wanting to do for a long time now. The time just felt right to sort my life out.

But yeah drinking is ok, but not for me.
Yeah and knowing your limits is good.

Okay in moderation... alcoholism is a horrible demon to fight... I've seen it ruin families and lives and know that I never even want to GO there...
I've been put in the ER by a violent alcoholic ex. I love a bit of nice wine here and there when I go out somewhere nice, or for the occasional relaxing evening in, but I'm currently on a 'beer vacation'... no booze AT ALL until I lose a bunch of weight and sort of recover from the shitty relationship I just got out of... alcohol played a big role in its demise and my only request to the ex was that he just leave me alone and go get professional help.

So in short, alcohol scares me. It makes violent people more violent, stupid people stupider, and it makes me FAT. And depressed. And that's not good.

The way and amount some of my friends drink, turns me off from drinking in the first place.

If I drink, which is pretty rare, it would be at a party, a club, a concert, somewhere social. Otherwise, I prefer my weed.

Alcohol is a depressant and ruins lives of people that cannot or dont have the will power to say enough. In todays world young kids think its cool to drink by the end of their teens they are addicted to alcohol. In todays world with all the computer games, texts, the internet or any other means of comunication we are loosing our social abilities therefore people drink to relax & loose their inhibition. This is only my opinion.

Other... Alcohol is a crutch if not taken in moderation. It depends on the person drinking too, Im all against stupid belligerant people drinking excessively or without a limit.

It depends on who is drinking it, and how they act when they drink.

If others want to drink, then thats they're choice.

It makes me depressed, I used to drink it to make me feel worse.

But I don't do that anymore.

I don't touch the Devil's nectar anymore...

I'm with you stinky, I have seen and experienced the ravages of alcohol.I would prefer a world without that drug. It killed my mother and my mother-in-law, almost killed me and my dad, killed a good friend of mine, and the best thing I ever did was quite drinking - gulp- 22 years ago.
You'll drop weight fast and certainly won't miss the drama of a guy that drinks too much. My husband drinks only good beer, and is pretty cool about it, but when he has a few too many it is very unattractive! Fortunately he doesn't do that often. Alcohol made me into a very maudlin and angry person- not who I really am at all. My dad was a tyrant until he quit drinking. Of course some people don't abuse alcohol, but I've personally never seen it help anyone.
Exercise is the way to go- you will be feeling better about yourself in no time. I have not been working out for a few months and am a mess- so I am making my annual resolution to get back in shape (every year I work out during Jan-April, then yard work becomes my exercise, which then peters out in October, and I have two months of turning to jelly before I start the process all over:) I will cheer you as I go!

Where is the "I fuckin' love taking tequila shots, alcohol is the shiz, and plus it let's girls get their freak out" box. That is the one I wanna check.

I am in college so I have a very high(no pun intended) opinion of alcohol. Yes it brings out the dumb in all of us, but that is the best part. It's one of mans greatest acheivments, next to Apollo 11, and deep ocean exploration.

Everyone in my family drinks, a lot, but none are full blown alcoholics or derelicts. So I have never really had a bad family experience with it. Some of my friends have. People that I have and still do know can't handle their drink and that is always annoying.
