Not what you would expect from such an ex high ranking official who said the war was going great before. Damn snake worshipers. lol.
If the US is so overstretched, how will they be able to invade Syria and Iran?
I know! Another false flag terror attack and a draft! DING DING DING!!

Former US Secretary of State Colin Powell has said overstretched US troops are losing the conflict in Iraq.
Mr Powell told CBS News that bolstering troop numbers would be unlikely to reverse the "grave and deteriorating situation" in the country.
President Bush is trying to shape a new strategy for Iraq, with officials suggesting more soldiers may be sent.
The recent Iraq Study Group review said the US strategy of "staying the course" was no longer viable.
It suggested combat troops could be withdrawn by early 2008.
But on Friday, an administration official said up to 25,000 more troops could be deployed in the country to try to help end the violence and make cities like Baghdad more secure.
There are currently 140,000 US troops in Iraq.
'Overstretched'
The leader of the Democrats in the US Senate has backed the reported plan to boost troop levels, but only if it is part of a longer-term strategy.
"If it is for a surge, that is, for two or three months, and if it is part of a programme to get us out of there as indicated by this time next year, then, sure, I'll go along with it," Harry Reid said.
However, Mr Powell told CBS he was not convinced more soldiers on the ground would quell the violence.
"I am not persuaded that another surge of troops into Baghdad for the purposes of suppressing this communitarian violence, this civil war, will work," he said.
He added that such was the overstretch of the US military, there were no additional troops that could be sent.
"We are losing - we haven't lost - and this is the time, now to start to put in place the kinds of strategies that will turn this situation around," he said.

It was always going to end like this, if someone invaded your country what would you do?
I would take up arms against any invader and do exactly what some Iraqis are doing if my country came under attack.
The other problem of course is now that the factions that all hated Saddam don't have him to hate anymore they are going back to what they did before and attacking each other.
I have been saying for a long time that America is making itself a Nam for the 21st century.
War for peace is the single biggest oxymoron.

What does Iraq have to do with terrorists ? The so called terrorists you speak of (I can only assume you mean the 9/11 lot) were not Iraqis.
Propoganda is something the US knows all about, reds under the bed paranoia feed the flames.

How is this like Nam? Where are the invading troops in N. Iraq? There are none because a separate country isn't coming in from the north, in fact, northern Iraq known as the Kurdish region is doing very well!
Is Iraq a war that we have inherited from France? Granted, part of it was caused by Frances dirty deeds but still, they didn't leave us holding the bag like Nam.
Pissed off Sunnis and radical Shi-ites does not make a Nam. They currently have over 300,000 troops trained and it'll be a matter of time when they get control. It's in the best interests of this entire region and some of their neighbors are starting to realize this.
Comparisons like this make me laugh....sorry, but they do.

Have a good one!:jointsmile:I just don't understand why these people who have endured so much war and tragedy finally say "we are sick of bloodshed! we want peace! we want to rule our own country without interference!"
There's always a few assholes who want to make a buck from killing innocents and profit from war. G.W and Cheney are the poster boys for that.

Have a good one!:jointsmile:Nahhhh. I think that Bush and co. are behind it all and are simply exaggerating the "threat" of terrorists the same way Hitler said the communists and Jews were trying to take over Germany.
Yes there are suicide bombers in Islamic countries, but the government is exaggerating this "threat", especially since 9/11 was an inside job. Most Muslims do not believe in Jihad at all. Even you admitted that.
If Iran and Syria are such problematic countries all of a sudden, I'll be more than happy to lend you my shotgun and my German Shepherd to hunt down those bad evil freedom hating Muslims.

That is one beautiful dog!!! Wouldn't want to put it in harms way. LOL
Iran seems to be taking a stand with their recent elections.......seems the hard liners aren't feeling the love they once did. As for Syria.....they know the limits and I highly doubt that they'll push the envelope much further.

America didn't start Nam........another one of my points regarding this. Also, wasn't it Iraq that invaded Kuwait and actually started this lil' adventure?

I feel you may be being deliberately obtuse.
INTERFERENCE IN OTHERS AFFAIRS !
DECIDING FOR OTHERS HOW THEY SHOULD LIVE !
MAKING UP BS EXCUSES TO STICK THIER OAR IN WHERE IT ISN'T WANTED !
These were Americas mistakes in Nam and Iraq, thats where the similarity is and also in the fact that they jumped in with thier dicks in thier hands and were suprised when they got a kick in the bollocks.
America can never win this type of war anymore than pigs can read braille.

Within a 5 year period we have managed to march through a country, train over 300,000 of their people for their own service, assisted with not one but three open elections, dealt with insurgents and terrorists and our casualties are at just a mark over 3,000. How many of our men/women were killed in that period of time in Nam? How many P.O.W.s?
THEY ELECTED THEIR GOVERNMENT
THEY MADE THEIR CONSITUTION AND WAS OPENLY VOTED ON BY THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ
Don't care much for that capital print thing but I guess that's how ya make a point. LOL
This is a far cry from what we were STUCK with in Nam. We have been actively working on and restoring their infrustucture.......where in Nam did this happen? Cities having their power, water, and sewer upgraded to the times.....which cities in Nam did this happen in?

The sooner we leave George Bushs' war behind the better off all will be. the Shia and Sunnis can finish what we,ve stirred up, a centuries old feud, the outside insurgents will have no reason to be there as there will be no Americans to kill, the puppet government can come down and a strongman operation similar to Sadams regime can get the place under control. We can then Blockade the port and dictate the price of oil leaving Iraq. Without US bloodshed we can reap the harvest we so dearly paid for in blood and treasure, the Oil!

They say it's all in the details however the similarity I suggest is much simpler than you are making it (as I said "deliberately obtuse") the similarity is IT IS AN UNWINNABLE WAR ! nothing more nothing less.
The similarity is in the fact that just like when America thought it could HELP ??? it made things worse and exactly the same has happened in Iraq.
The US didn't think it would have too much trouble with the gooks (sorry to any Vietnamese) and they thought the towelheads (sorry Arabs) would be a push over too, they were wrong on both counts.
Forget military casualties and count the TOTAL cost and Iraq is certainly worse off than before we (US/UK) interfered, American soldiers being brought up on charges of rape and murder, could that even be possible if the US hadn't gone there?
Your claims hold nothing if people are more fearful now than they were before they were "rescued" (????) , bombings in Baghdad are commonplace , the country is seriously divided, how is that better ??

I would like to point out the unexploded ordinance from US artillery and cluster bombs are just as deadly as someone wearing a vest. Innocent people walking by it or messing with it and it goes BOOM. The UN is trying to ban the use of cluster bombs. And today I think only US, Brits, and Israel are the only one's to still use them.
