I have been sick with a synus(sp?) infection, and my two friends have called me and told me to "Stop smoking weed, because is THRASHES your immune system".
Is this true? I have heard from both sides and I do not know. Could someone tell me a definitive answer?

Edit: Also I've noticed that both of my friends are really gullable, and they do not research anything that they hear.

Introduction of smoke into your respiratory system is going to cause irritation to your sinuses and one way or another, if you have a sinus infection that can be a detriment.

Have you even tried running a search? I popped in cannabis immune system I got over 100,000 hits. Erowid is a good place to start with questions on any drug. ]http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_myth5.shtml

Is there another way to build your immune system since I can't drink tea too often as my doctor told me that is why I get kidney stone.

In 1999 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) did a massive research into medicinal marijuana. It was all government funded. Their studies showed inconclusive evidence backing the theory that smoking marijuana weakens the immune system. In other words, no it doesn't.

Smoke of course will irritate the sinus and the respiratory system. Smoking with an upper respiratory or sinus infection is not good. Vaporizing is better but still not beneficial. Refraining until you get well is the best, but hard to do sometimes!

Show me the links . . . . either way. I'm not finding stuff on this topic, even in the med school research database.

cheery: if you want other ways to build your immune system, try eating healthier (white sugar, ie all refined foods, should be avoided especially in the flu season because it weakens the immune sys.), and seeing a chiropractor. a lot of people think they're quacks, but i am a believer. they adjust your spine so that you body can reach it's natural equilibrium and be able to heal itself naturally, as all bodies are meant to do.
