I was just curious to see how others stayed in shape. I try and run a couple of times a week and that seems to work but I'm also tryin to eat healthier too which is like impossible when you've got the munchies all the time.
Anybody also play any sports?

Man, there is nothing like getting stoned after an intense workout. I go to martial arts class, work out like hell for 90 minutes. Go home and get high. Life is good.

I ride the stationary bike mostly. I also like doing the 20 minute pilates dvd sometimes and carmen electra's striptease is fun. I downloaded it on morpheus.
P.S. There is no such thing as "the munchies". It's all in your head. If you smoke often enough over a long period of time you suddenly realize one day that you don't really get the munchies anymore cause you just don't think about it.

I work out at least five times a week, doing both cardio and weights during those workouts. I eat right. And don't smoke. (Not even weed.) Drink a lot of water. Spend lots of "quality time" with my husband, too. The result is that I look and feel a good bit younger than my 45 years. And I intend to keep it that way!

I'm a mod because they asked me to be one. And I'm on a cannabis forum because, originally, I was interested in medical cannabis because I had a sister who was in chemotherapy for cancer. She died last month. I found I liked the community and stayed. And even if I don't smoke, I'm still a very strong advocate for its use, both medically and recreationally. There are several members here who believe/support but don't actively partake. I'm firmly convinced that smart, articulate non-stoner cannabis advocates do a lot to advance this cause.

ive been so shitty lately about food and not excersizing but now that im back at home i havent been busy at all so ive been workin out a lot more and when i work out i dont really feel like eating much anyways.. plus after about a week when you start to feel those improvements like you're falling back into shape again (as in endurance not physical shape) the highs start to get sooo much cleaner and you get much less burnt out.. plus you just feel more productive in life and not like a bum sittin around smoking and eating junk food

Thanks, Void. Well, the smart part is debatable! But I try.
I did smoke a little with my sister last summer when we had the cannabis on hand for her to use for the chemo symptoms. And I smoked back in college. I enjoyed it a lot. But it did seem to relieve me of a significant amount of IQ points. And it also robbed me of a considerable amount of my motivation to accomplish anything, too. If it were legal and easy to obtain, I'd be the first one in line to get some. But right now with the other stuff I have going on in my life, it's just easier and safer for me to wait and to be a cheerleader on its behalf instead.

How effective is mj in treating chemo symptoms (like nausea and vomiting)? With prescription anti-emetics + mj, how close to 100% can you get (as in no nausea/vomiting)?

I had a thread like this a couple weeks ago. I lift weights 4 times a week and ride the stationary bike for an hour 5 times a week. I love waking up, drinking some water, eatin' a banana, and puttin' on the first 4 Metallica albums and riding hard.
One of the top ten in the best feelings ever category is smoking some good weed after a hard workout. Yesterday I could barely lift my arms over my head after my lift, smoked a bowl of some lemon drop g13 and was well on my way to recovery after that!

i eat lots and lots of soy, wheat germ, nuts, rice, apples, bananas, juices instead os soda, lots of water, along with wide array of vegetables, all organic.
I do the Treadmill at the gym, tons of sit-ups, ride my bike, lift weights, and i do tae kwon do and have a second degree blackbelt. Being 50 hasnt slowed me down at all.
When you get the munchies make sure you have a bag of apples handy, some nuts, cashews, etc etc.
Being a cannabis stoner makes it very importnat that we eat right because we do find ourselves more hungry than most others in the population.
Pumkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc etc are all swell snacks.
Stay of of fast food joints.
stay off candy as much as possible.
No soda pops
an ocassional decent potatochip is fine, with a great homemade salsa.
Lots and lots of h2o

I don'[t play any sports at all. Never been miy thing, but in when there isn't snow on the ground, I go mountain biking everyday. They have kickass trails around here that go for miles on end. Last summer I did 20km daily, and in 3months, I had ranked up 750km on my bike speedometer. It's a good time!
I used to kickbox, but never got around to competing. I may get back into it now that I'm settled in my new home.
Right now though, it's kind of frosty and slippery outside, so biking I do not attempt, so I go walking everyday. I walk everyday to work because my job consists of me sitting down mostly, so I need to do something to keep my heart going, otherwise I'd fatten up again like I once was.

i don't exercise as much as i should since it got to cold to ride the bike trails, but every other day or so i run around with the dog in the yard. he likes to try to keep the tennis ball away from me and loves being chased, and he is quick so its a good work out. i am going to get a membership to a 24 hour gym next year because i am fatter than i prefer.

I use to play a lot more sports then i do now because education takes up so much of my time. Plus, i have a job now so that doesn't help. I try to keep in shape by walking a lot, not eating that much food and doing press ups and sit ups. I need to do more running but i hate it so much and it's really cold outside these days. I can't stand exercising while high either so i have to do it before i blaze.

i forgot to mention, beans. eat lots of beans. I like to chop-up onions to put in mine, with other hot spices.
To make them a more handier snack i will make a huge pot of them, then i will freeze them in serving size containers so i can just pull them out of the freezer, nuke them, and serve them with tortillas. MMMmmmm good.

i dont know birdgirl....i smoke and it doesnt rob me of my motivation to do anything..i think that is one of those individual user things..same with the brain cells..i am very smart, very educated, very motivated, pretty active, and a daily pot smoker for approximately 5 years now...
someuser....i was introduced to marijuana for use during my chemo..i can honestly say i think it saved my life..for me, marijuana was better than anything else out there for my nausea and vomitting..i continue to smoke marijuana in lieu of certain medications...

many scientist have said cannabis has given them more insight, musicians claim that it slows down time and that we are able to fill that void with another note that might not normally be there, i have met fellow vets who claim cannabis heightened their awareness in battle. Some of the world smartest people have used cannabis. Some of the worlds dumbest haved used it. Then there are those of us who like to feel we are somewhere in the middle.
dai*ma:stoned:
they say 3 % of the people use 5% to 6% of their brain
97% use just 3 % and the rest goes down the drain
I'll never know which one i am but i'll bet you my last dime
99% think i'm 3% 100% of the time:(

I certainly don't maintain that cannabis robs everyone of motivation. Only that it did that with me. That was very much my personal finding with weed. And I suspect that that depends on what strain people are using, too. For instance, the weed I smoked with my sister last summer was Indica-dominant, which is known to cause the unmotivated couch-lock syndrome. It certainly did that with me. In her case, that was perfect. It relaxed her, relieved some of her physical pain, helped with the nausea, and improved her appetite. It made me hungrier than normal, too, and made me mostly want to lie around and giggle and do little else.
As far as IQ depletion is concerned, I think that's a side-effect that varies from individual to individual, too. Storm Crow and others have posted threads in the medical area citing studies that show that occasional use doesn't seem to have any effect on IQ but that heavier users (defined as people who smoke more than five joints a week) can indeed show some indications of lowered IQ. In my case, it slowed down my thought processes, kept me from being as quick-witted as I normally am, and caused some aphasia, where I could conceive of what I wanted to say or write but couldn't actually articulate it. Since I was working as a professional speechwriter back during that time, that was a definite drawback for me. At the same time, I think it definitely spurred my creativity. That is, creative concepts and ideas came to me in new and noticeable ways, and I thought of several ideas for inventions and recipes during those toking periods. So that was fun.

i was just trying to show the other side, and that marijuana doesnt always cause those things....as for research, there is plenty to support both sides of the arguement, like anything else, it is just what you choose as an individual to believe...sorry if i misunderstood your post bird, but the way i read it was an implication that marijuana makes you lazy and dumb...i hate that stereotype...

I love doing English while stoned, as I can slow down and focus more on single ideas, and therefore my papers explode with detail. I'm more 'quick' in conversation, when high, otherwise sober me while not dull, would not be considered the life of too many parties either.
I figured the same principle would apply to math when I got into college this fall; it made it even harder to understand the class. When high, i just can not make simple connections in some mathematical procedures. It sucks, but that's why i don't smoke before math class.
I think like IQ, general impairment or enhancement varies from user to user, but I'm sure we can all agree the general effect of being stoned is Joe user, while not dumb as the media would like you to believe, is a little slower while stoned.

No problem at all. I generally work hard at not making stereotypes about cananbis users/supporters. That's why I coined what I said in "I language" throughout my previous posts. Because I know experiences vary greatly from individual to individual, just like people's responses to other medicines do. And because I know from my time here that all stoners aren't lazy or dumb. . . . My impression is that most of them are much smarter and more creative than average.

We don't! We're a lot more comfortable being lovers than fighters. (Lovers of other people, I mean!) I hate fighting. That's a guy thing. Actually, I did see a lady in a store earlier today who I know could have held a WWF heavyweight title if she'd gone for it. She almost had a beard.

Have I ever? Heck yes. Used to toke up all the time during college. And I did last summer probably 15 or 20 times when my sister was sick. I love it. And I'd smoke it again, too, if it were legal and easy to obtain. I hate the shadiness of trying to buy it, though, and am afraid to indulge right now.
But yes, the answer is a definite yes. I'm not as square as you might think. I have all the makings of a legendary stoner. . . . Someday when it's legal, I plan to be one again. (And if I ever get sick, I won't hesitate even before it's legal.)

I don't excersice that much or not as much as I need to. I eat pretty well, I just need to burn some fat. Used to play sports in HS, but not many sports for guys in thier mid twenties (unless you're on a church softball team,,I don't go to church). I thought about joining up with the florida amature wrestling bunch but didn't find any close teams around to practice with. Oh well for now, I bike around the neighborhood and swim when its warm and lift weights when I'm not feeling lazy.
