I want to start a DWC grow using a 150w HPS. I would like the hydro communities opinion and advice on how I should go about doing this. Considering my lighting should I grow 4 tiny plants or 2 small plants. Should I use small buckets with a control or should I use a tub. I would like low and easy as possible maintenence on my grow. I would like to be able to harvest all my plants at once and put in new ones right after harvest so I dont want to do a SCrog. I know that having buckets can let me manuver them around a bit in the chamber for spacing where in the tubs they are fixed. I would imagine using 3-4 inch net pots with hydroton. Any pointers you guys can give me would be appreciated.

actually your should consider doing a scrog it will give you the best yield for the light you are using and there is no reason why you couldnt harvest them all at the same time.
if your using clones from the same mother they should all finish at the same time so that isnt a problem with scrog.
would suggest using a tub and do about 3 clones and either do a scrog or lst them to get the most out of your light.

Ok so Im going to do a SCRoG with a DWC tub bubbler. How big of a tub shouldI get how many gallons? Any idea on how big I should let my clones get before I put them in the flowering chamber if im growing an indica dominant plant? Space is not an issue in terms of vertical height.

The amount of space you have will dictate the amount of plants you will need IMO. How is it that you have unlimited vertical height?

Well with a 150w I plan on useing a 2x2 foot area. I dont have unlimited vertical height. I have more than enough to accomodate my 150w grow. I was suggested 3 plants in a bubbler and I think that sounds good. Now I jsut need to know how big of a tub I should get how many gallons? How big I should let my clones get before I put them in the flowering chamber if im growing an indica dominant plant?

whatever number of plants you do decide to use wouldnt use more than 1 plant per sq ft of screen and in a scrog you will have to veg a little while in the bubbler this amount can vary alot depending on how many plants you use if using a 2 by 2 screen you may want to use 4 plants for minimum veg time.
as per the size would try to get a tub large enough that when filled to a normal level just below the netcups it would hold atleast 3 gallons per plant used so if you used 4 plants a 12 gallon, but you can go larger or smaller in size just a smaller one would require more maintence.
you should read up on scrog and bubblers and make sure its something you want to do before building one, will post a link to og faq at the bottom of the page. the scrog that ive seen done using a dwc tub all had a screen attached to the lid so all the plants and screen could be lifted off and nutrients could be changed out and having a spare tub to alternate out makes it a little easier.

ok well, I'd say a 2x2 space with a 150w would do nicly with 2 plants. If you plan on using some good seed stock, and DWC, you wont have very long to wait.
I'd also suggest implimenting some training(bending, tie-down, lst, ect.), and selective prunning(topping, fim, and not to mention the occasional(sp?) removal of or tucking of larger fan leaves).
If ya keep at it, you will no doubt develope your own style in time. Just the things that make your garden fuction the way it does. Who knows....you may find out that one plant will fill the sweet spot!

1 plant allowed to thrive will do better than 2 fighting for the space. IMHO Goodluck.

Hey there Dr. Bud. Im doing pretty much exactly what your talking about. I have a 18 gal DWC with 3x 5" netpots. one ended up being a male so i now have 2 plants in there with a 150w HPS in a 2x2 ft tent. As you can see in the pic one cola is outgrowing the rest so i added 2x40w 2700k cfls to fatten that nug up.

Im quite happy with my setup, let me know if you have any specific questions
