Alright, I'm gettin a grow cab put together, hopefully tomorrow. But as for my seedlings, they have been planted since the 12th. 6 germed. 1 sprouted in 7 days. So, I guess this will be a learning experience with one plant. I want to make my cab efficient enough to be able to veg with my HPS and a few higher kelvin CFLs. We'll see.

Heres some current pics, hope to get the cab done tomorrow.

(I think thats heat burn)

Ill get more pics and an update when the cab starts coming along.

Should I give up on the other 5 seedlings? Being as at day 7 they arent uh.. here?

Hey, Buckshot. Congrats on the seedling! :yay:

Couple things:

Soil looks a BIT dry. How often & how much have you been watering?

Those others might pop up with a little more moisture.

Did you germinate your seeds before you planted them (i.e. the paper towel method or something)?

Do you have a MACRO button on your camera? It is the button with the little flower on it. It might be in your settings. It will help you get MUCH better quality close-ups.

Otherwise, good luck on your grow!

That last pic reminds me of this one....hehe (I'm thinking of using it as my new avatar)

I cant give you an exact figure on HOW MUCH water I used, but I gave them enough to make the soil moist. I used a toothpick stuck about half way down if it was dry I watered.

I germed them just in a cup of water, all 6 had popped before I put them in soil.

I have a macro button on the other cam, Ill use it next time.

I cant find nutes locally anywhere, nore could I find foxfarms. I need some nutes. (Not yet, but I will).

Kp: I answered ur question above...

Thanks guys,
J

Well, sounds to me like they dried out. That's the only thing I could think of if you say they all popped in the cup of water. That's odd, unless you let them go too dry. Those things are very fragile, and must be kept moist, like a woman when she is amatory. ;)

I wouldn't give up on them JUST yet. Moisten them up and say a little prayer...maybe they will change their minds. I'd say that if they don't come up in another week, with proper moisture, you need to check one and see if it is actually dead. :(

As far as nutes go, I'm sure someone else will be a better person to tell you where to get some. If you are no where near a good garden or hydro store, you might be stuck with making your own nute-rich soil, or growing in ...err...dare I say it...MG...!

Take currr...

I have a lowes and a home depot around, but no hydro supply, or specialty garden places. Ill get of a pic of that one plant tonight. I added a 6500k CFL last night, and growth from then to today was phenominal. I watered pretty heavily, they were definately dry...

Here she is tonight...

Edit* Wow the leaves got bigger and stuck straight at the lights..

Well none of the other ones ever ended up popping, so I guess they don't want to participate... But the one is moving right along..

Where can I find nutes locally? I didnt see any at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, or meijer or anything....

How long till I can cut a clone to force flower? Six or seven nodes?

I bet nobody can guess what I canibalized to make this... Lol.

1.5'x1.5'x2.5' - I'm going to go to Wal Mart and get some of the 'energy/emergency blankets' to make sure my baby doesn't get uh.. well too cold I guess...

I need a few more light fixtures, I'm going to set up some fans, and then we'll have a 1 plant grow area...

Once this grow is done I'll prolly turn this little box into a veg/clone chamber, then make a big flowering box.

Where can I find nutes locally? I didnt see any at Home Depot, Lowes, ACE, or meijer or anything.... If you're in soil, don't nute yet! (Soil has nutes, and sprouts come with a built in food supply) Wait till your first set of 5 figer leaves are fully formed bfore starting outside nutes.

This time of year, it's hard to find garden products. Check floral shops & greenhouses, not the dept stores.

Also, to help improve soil, check your local 7-11 or whatever. Chances are, there's a fridge in the back with bait. Get a dozen earthworms (earthworms, dew worms, trout worms, red wigglers - NOT mealworms!) and put 'em in with your soil when you xfer to larger pot. You'll be limiting yourself to organic fertilizers, but it's well worth it. Mmmm... plants love worm poop!

Well here we are day 20. I havn't transplanted because I was out of town for a week. This is what I came back too... My single plant is doing alright. I think 'she' should turn out to be a healthy one. I will get it transplanted probably tomorrow. I should also be able to finish my cab by tomorrow. I have to find a way to mount a few computer fans I have, as well as a power supply, and ballast/ignitor for my HPS.

looking good so far... time for nutes.

sorry i lost you... but i'm back now. when you planted, how deep did you set the seeds? did you put them flush with the top of the soil, or bury them kinda deep?

just wondering what happened...

I set the seeds probably a half inch or so under the soil. I don't know why only the one came... It kinda made me mad. Another thing I did, was before I left I prety much gave my plant almost a scary amount of water, and kept only my 6500K bulb on it, not the big one..

Thanks for coming back to visit!

Tonights update:

Watered pretty heavily last night, and added ALOT tonight, soil seemed to dry/light. The transplanting of this guy proved that it was pretty well rootbound. I loosened up the root ball a little, put in fresh new dirt and watered. I also have direct wind on them right now, with temps hovering about 82.

How do you guys like these last few pics I've taken? As far as clarity/size/etc.

I was wondering what you're light schedule is for your plants, even more so for the 1st week or so. I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't expose my seedlings that just sprouted to 24 hr light or perhaps make it a little bit more natural.

there are some that say that root development is beter at night, but i don't think there is any conclusive evidence of that, please correct me if i am wrong... but if you are that concerned bout it, put em on a 20 hour light, 4 hour dark cycle.
