Hello, I am hoping that someone here can tell me if I would be able to put 400watt or 430 watt bulbs in the same Mogul bases that I have 2 250 watt bulbs in right now. My lights are a dual setup. I have 1 250 watt HPS and MH in each socket. The ballast is a single ballast that runs both the HPS and MH together, but you do have to put the correct bulb in the correct socket or they wont work.

Or would I have to have a 400watt ballast to run the light.

What is the maximum wattage bulb I can use with this 250 watt ballast.

I hope I phrased the question corectly, please help me out, Peace...MrP.

Hi mrpotsmoka
The base is the same , the bulbs, 250, 400, 600 all are the same size as far as the screw in side .
It is not recomended to use a different bulb than the ballast is designed for, 250 watt ballast for 250 watt bulb, any other size could cause the bulb to explode.
This is on the box from the company who made my lights.
Would a 250 watt ballast light a 400 watt bulb, probably, would it be safe, probably not.

Hi Heart, that sounds pretty much like common sense to me, but I just wanted to make sure of it, sounds fine with me I'll be sasisfied with the dual 250's for now I guess. Thank you for the info, Peace.....MrP.
