Just wondering BHD....what do you use for your production?...(Production software, keyboard, midi)

Strangely...All I use is Garageband. Pretty cheap software. I doin't really have a need for a keyboard because my beats mainly consist of samples.
with garageband I can't sample on-the fly with a keyboard (assigning a sample to a key) so I have to sequence all the samples by hand. It's sucks and its hard work, but like I said I'm usually stoned, so that way I can focus better and just set my mind to it.
I'm about to get Reason 3.0. and then get a midi keyboard, so that way I can sample on the fly...but right now its just the interface.
When I get my MPC...I will be tearin it up!!!!
Edit: I just read your signature....and noticed thats from P.C. of the Movement.
I'm from that area...and he just contacted me and I'm going to have a few beats on his upcoming solo album.. I'm pretty stoked!

Ya...I'm obsessed with hip hop/r&b beats and the alike...and always wanted to get into production but I just don't really know where to start. I got the demo version of Fruity Loops that I fuck around with...but you can't even save so its very pointless lol. You got any suggestions on how to start out.
As far as music software, I've heard Reason was one of the best. I'm guessing a lot of producers these days start with just production software..
Also, what's PC of the Movement? lol. But that's pretty sick either was that you gonna have some tracks on his album...good luck with that.

Fruity Loops is a great place to start. Look on Limewire for the full version..it's pretty easy to find.
And once you get that, listen to your favorite artists, or your influences, and see what things you like about their beats, and try to recreate that, but using your own flavor.
I dont want it to make it sound like biting, because it's not biting, because music is just patterns. It's kind of hard to explain, but just start makin beats, your first beats don't have to sound good. Always remember that the snare is on the 2 and the 4 of the beat. haha. That's like the basic rule. Just keep on making beats thats all I can really say.
your signature "I'm out for the Dead Presidents To Represent Me" is a line from Problem Childs songs.

Yeah I know what you mean about the 'biting' and all that shit. I just like to screw around sometimes...I'll look into that Fruity Loops though..thanks.
As for Problem Child....never heard of them...but I'm pretty sure they got those lyrics from Nas's song "The World Is Yours" (Illmatic). The lyric was then sampled in Jay-Z's song "Dead Presidents" (Reasonable Doubt).
