Hey all, if you are from the beautiful Vancity, let me know! We probably have lots in common, or at the very least, lots to talk about. Who else knows what the "pot block" is, for example!

it sounds like you need a lesson in vancouver pot culture! totally get the book Bud Inc. it tells you everything you need to know about what goes on in vancouver with respect to pot.

to humor you, the pot block is an area around hastings street and cambie, where there are a bunch of pot-related stores. there is two stores that sell seeds, the marijuana party headquarters (aka the cannabis culture HQ- the magazine), and the amsterdam cafe. there was also another store that used to be around, but it burnt down.

if you come out to van make sure that you, at least once, buy one kick ass oz. The best shit around should be like 180$. you'll love it.
might be hard to find.

you should read this book: Bud Inc. It's great. It'll help you out a lot when you come out

how far is the pot block from the airport??

harris7
01-15-2007, 11:53 PM
in a different city...

but not far, even on tranist.

you want to find the 98 B-line. From Richmond to Vancouver. The bLine is a great bus comes every 2-3 min during rush hour. it'll take you 4 blocks away. The pot block is on Hastings at Cambie.

I like weekending up there.

Last time, as I left the 'bookstore' on hastings, watching a woman put out her joint on a tree right next to a cop... you sure can't do that where I live.

the forum dosn't have aPM function
and you will be banned for asking for weed.

Vancouver is the easiest city on earth to find weed.
Just follow your green sense

Sorry about that. I tried today to no avail on the pot block. Might go back later but I guess I'm too much of a pussy to walk around the Eastside and ask people if they sell weed.

harris7
01-18-2007, 07:02 AM
None of the stores on the Pot block sell weed. That area is controled by the Hells Angles. Which really you shouldn't support.

Check your User CP at top of page

is it true that there is some building next to one of these shops that you can go into and buy your herb or mush or whatever it is your looking for just as long as its not a "hard" drug?

harris7
01-20-2007, 01:15 AM
there are several to my knowledge, just ask around. Dont bother asking the people working there

LSK420theVille
01-21-2007, 03:44 AM
really? the people working arent helpful or what?

dutch.lover
01-21-2007, 03:59 AM
the people are helpful, but they aren't going to risk going to jail just so you can get your fix, ya know?. you can buy mushrooms, and salvia, and some other legal hallucinogens at a store on the pot block (the pot block btw, refers to multiple stores in that area hence 'block' not just the amsterdam cafe)....they don't sell weed, and they don't openly sell shrooms either. they are always stayin safe from the cops, like they get mad at you if you so much as jay-walk in front of their store. So ya the people there are really helpful, but they're not gonna risk goin to jail for you, so don't ask outright about buying drugs there. Also, don't buy from the H.A. our efforts as personal growers is working to end organized crime, so please dont support it.

I like the Vape Lounge and 5$ is quite reasonable.
and they could clearly change more with 200+ people coming through some days

remember a Volcano costs ~$600 so thats 120 people before they pay 1 off

Its by far the best vape lounge in Vancouver. hopefuly more will start popping up around the city. i hope to start one... one day

^^unless the popos raid the shit like they did to that cafe on commercial

harris7
04-27-2007, 11:02 PM
we'll it's a completely different issue

the cafe on commercial was selling ~$5000 of dope a day
as well as hash and food...

that is agaisnt the law

having a vape lounge isn't illegal. the people possessing could be charged but not the store

High everyone! Ok, so I was planning on moving to Van in a couple years, I'd go now but I need a job and money. So, no go, right? Well I've been job hunting lately and decided to apply to a few positions on the some Vancouver job boards. I seriously didn't think I'd get more than a "Thanks for the interest, call us when you actually live here" response. But no! This morning the very impressed manager of a loan co. in downtown Vancouver interviewed me over the phone and wants me to go up (I'm in so cali) next week to make sure I like it there! So holy crap! 2 years turned into a little over 2 weeksish!!! I've been researching Canada intensely for well over 6 months and I know for sure that I want to make it my home, but the ones who live there know it best. Any advice? Tips? Warnings?

Sorry for the length but any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks everyone!!!!

^ I think you're gonna like Vancouver. I have a bunch of family in Southern Cali and they always be coming up here. They always just drone on about how great it is here.

Anyway, in terms of pot, it's pretty accepted if you use some common sense. Don't do it around cops, don't do it in the middle of a playground during the day, that kind of stuff. But virtually nobody cares if you're minding your own business. If you do happen to get in trouble with cops just be cool and upfront, they sometimes don't care either.

I went throuigh a road block a few weeks ago, the cop stuck his head in my car to smell, sniffed around and said 'well it's not alcohol, have a good night'. The car reeked of weed because the stupid dealer didn't have zipper bags to give me, just sandwich bags.

Anyway that's it for the smoking aspect of it. If you're gonna be living downtown then everything is pretty accesible and easy to find. Granville is the club/bar hotspot and Robson is the shopping hotspot.

I guess the Pot Block is definitely worth a visit. New Amsterdam Cafe is really clean and nicely decorated, great place for a little smoke. Emery's place next door is more ghetto but they have Volcano vapes and also you can meet the so-called Prince of Pot if you're lucky.

Also plan on smoking a lot during the long, rainy days of which there are many. Or you could cook or knitt if you're into those domestic hobbies instead. Bottom line: Lots of rain but at least it's warm(ish).

kev i was just at new amsterdam cafe yesterday, and next door was selling! i got a tip from some guy and just followed up ... that place that sells seeds, you'll notice a bunch of guys just going in and out... when u come up and they ask you if you've been there before "say yeah u have" and there'll be a room in the 2nd floor and you just go in and pay some guy at the desk and he gives you a bag! it was $10 / gram when i went yesterday... i had lots of fun over there and got to meet some nice people... the bad thing is i was too high to take a picture of the place and to buy some souvenirs! haha so i'm going back today and gonna get that taken care of as i return to san francisco tonight... good luck kev, and thank you vancouver!

hey everybody  i'm thinking of moving to Vancouver because with everything i hear it just shocks me...i currently live in the east coast (USA) haha and it's just been horrible...the people, the treatment, the culture...i've been sick for a while and really got to see how it is, canada seems like it represents a lot more...and everything about vancouver sounds great, the enviorment, people, of cource the mary jane :D it just seems really diverse and that's what i love because i love nature just as much as city and action just as much as relaxing...little bit of everything and i'm dying for a big change when things shape up

but my maiiiin question, is how is it money wise? if you were to rent a place out with a few working friends, would it be simple? keep in mind that where i live is rhode island and lots of people struggle...canada as a whole seems like it just works differently, but i'm just curious on how living is money wise, but wouldn't surprise me if it's better than here even if it's a tourist spot....hopefully someone can just fill me in on the renting/housing as whole, what's it like? even what the houses look like, small silly shit like that interests me :D:rasta:

^ Hey. It's cool thinking about moving up to Vancouver. Here's some things to keep in mind:

The Pot Situation: Everybody smokes and the pot here is usually abundant, good and pretty cheap. But, keep in mind that weed is completely illegal here in Canada and it's not like cops will never, ever hassle you for it. So don't think Vancouver is like Amsterdam in that way.

The Housing Situation: I'm not sure where in the US you're from, but housing is pretty ridiculous in Vancouver. House prices go up like fifty percent every year. Rent prices therefore get affected too. You should be fine for a decent place if you find a decent job and maybe get a roommate or two

Also keep in mind it might no too too easy to find a job here in Vancouver. If you're after minimum wage you can find a job no problem, but if you have some career in mind you'd be better off moving somewhere like Alberta.

yeah a basic little job is all i'm after, not really a career for a while...i'm sure housing is better depending on the parts, i wouldn't be looking to be right in downtown, as long as it's near there and a nice area it's good to me, doesn't have to be anything special....but sometime this year i plan to take a trip there and if i like it, move not that long from then...as far as the pot situation, yeah, i know that, but hey it's still great....nobodies saying you need to run around smoking in the streets too or anything haha...i heard it's very close to being legalized though in the upcoming years? with the support it gets, don't see why it wouldn't

Koofteh
01-24-2008, 06:10 AM
^ You should be fine for a job. All the stores I ever walk past have a sign saying they are hiring.

Pot was going to be decriminalized but a new political party came to power and now it probably won't be happening for a long time. Mainly because the new government wants to be pals with the US and the US would never go for legalizing pot. :D
