View Full Version : Bear and the Stinky "Children of the Attic"

OK, two grow logs in one day. I wanted to give these girls a stage of their own, so with out further adieu, I present the "Children of the Attic" They are an Afghani cross with some mystery mix. A female guru around hear who I will leave un named, coff, coff, oh excuse me something "Stinky" made me choke a little, LOL made the beans available to me.
I am embarrassed to say this, but the girls did get abused some do to some heat stress combined with keeping them in the little 4 pack treys too long, but they are recovering just fine and no worse for the ware. They are stretched a little, because when they were recovering I put them along the side of the light and not directly under it , at least that is my take on it, but once I transplant them I will berry them up to the hilt so the stretching won't be a factor at all.
Set up is a Colman cabinet with a 175Mh, small desk fan and a bathroom fan for the exhaust, this cab also can be fitted with my 6x23W CFL's for different projects. I use Black Gold organic potting soil cut with any where from 40 to 50 percent perlite, with using so much perlite the roots have an easier time growing do to the loose medium and the soil affords better drainage and more airation, but also requires watering on a daily basis.
I will veg them for one month approx. Right now they are about 2 weeks from breaking soil and I think that they would be further along in their growth except for the heat/pot issue, but I am determined to make the best of it.
Also, these are two types of strain that are related to one another, but I didn't keep track of the numbers when I transplanted because I was just trying to hurry and save them. Perhaps once they start to develop more distinct characteristics, Stinky can shed some more light on them. They will be moved under the 400W for the last 10 days of veg and be put in bigger pots, at least that is the plan at this point, but I may veg longer because I want to grab some clones in case I find a gal that will be my baby momma, LOL.
Also is a pic of my naglectid bonsai that needs to be plucked for about 5 clones, next is a bud shot from her mom at 5 weeks flower.
Another misolanious shot of a bubbler cloner which I paid for, but will never do again since constructing them is too easy as you can see.

well Adieu for now.

Awesome!
All I can tell you about those beans is that the mystery side of their genetics has been selected to tolerate indoor abuses like heat and such.
Oh and that the mystery side was also selected from plants that had a lovely smell to them.

I will keep updating, almost want to update again today because the girls have already bushed up a little since starting them on the Liquid Karma last night, but I will still wait a couple days.
Black Gold, love it, simular to Fox Farm, but cost less. I have found quite a few who have swiched over from the FF to the BG with the same results.

Woah.. Sorry to be off topic but are you a chick bear?

If so.. All this time I thought you were a guy, don't ask why..

Well yeah, I've got a pic request, but the subject would have 4 legs and no leaves! Hee hee!
Oh hey, I've got a little grow-off going between the Yeag's Alaskan beans and the Bear's Alaskan beans! I'm hoping to bring the 2 strains together when they flower. I'll return some genetics to the frozen north! Those beans will have made quite a journey... Anchorage... The Midwest... New England... and back.

The traveling bean CO. I guess they will kind of be on tour, have to start a fan club for them, LOL. Well how far apart are they in their start date? Your girls are looking nice today and I will have to get some pics up before bed time.
So what kind of four leg pic do you want, blue, black, white or what give me something and I will see if I can make it happen when I post the :Children" up later. It seems like they are growing little afros, LOL.

Blue Bear and his Blue Pits.
Seriously blue pits are one of the most stunning animals I can think of.
But pictures of any and all 4-legged friends are always welcome!

The start date.... I don't have my journal on me but they are maybe 8 weeks apart. So I have to save some of his in veg to pollinate when yours are ready.

The roaming bean fan club would be fun!

Well here is the big boy when he was younger and a little athletic blue female.
Will Get a pic of the Children up in a minut and a picture of what I took off of a Purple Lion female who I had to cut down in 3rd week of flower the other night because she was pulling to many banana tricks. I got her from that friend with the unusual room, and I don't know if his plants are just going to be like the Munsters and do something crazy everytime I mess with one.
Well adieu

OK, been two days since the last pics, as you can see they are getting back on track. What I have done, day one after pics, fed with 1/2 ML of SuperThrive per Gal and Liquid Karma 2 TSP per Gal, day 2, same as day one along with some Cal Mag at 1 TSP per Gal and GH flourolicious Grow at 1 TSP per Gal and so far they are doing quite well IMO. Along with the above, I mist about 4 times a day with a bottle with PH adjusted water with a 1/2 ML of SuperThrive and sometimes LQ as well.
Last shot is of some Purple Lion that we had to cut at only 3 weeks into flower do to a mass production of bananas, she had les than 3 weeks veg and was considered a low yielder, and I also cut off some top buds before this early harvest pick do to what I thought might have been some powder mildew so to be on the safe side we cut off all buds from about the top 6 inches. At this point I am not sure what I will do with the stuff because it is so premi.

Oh the dogs look so sweet and happy! They are gorgeous. And you left their ears natural! Yay.
The plants look great.

BlueBear
12-13-2006, 05:41 PM
Actually the blue girl had cropped ears when I got her, but I don't crop them because I like the natural ear setting my self. The cropped ears can make them look a little vicious and though I don't want them looking to mean do to the misperception that surrounds them, cropped ears or no cropped ears, you wouldn't want to get caught sneaking around by one of these dogs being a person with bad intentions.

OK, the Children. The next time you see them, they will be in new pots and under the 400W. I think I updated 3 days ago , so you can see that they are looking more like palm trees at this point instead of pixy children with afros, LOL. Once they are transferred, that long stretch will be long forgotten. Since the TLC, the nodes have just tightened up, there so tight, that they get tangled up. The stems are like tuff little pencils, perhaps we will have to make cannabis number 420 pencils and require them for all school district tests, LOL.
Threw in a shot of some ladies I grew out a few months back in my cabinet. They were from seed and I veged them for about 3 weeks and this is them at 4 weeks flower having been under a 1K.

Update on the Stinky Children. As you can see they are propped up and so on making the most of the light as they smile for a Mothers Day post card, LOL. They are conversing with a few other girls who have been very notty, trying to have a fruit/banana fight.
Also, some Christmas Eve goodies from 4 plants who kept us up waiting for Santa, but he never made it, guess he wanted milk and cookies more.

Everything is looking very nice!
That bud shot is making me want to go home early and have a puff or 3~

I had not noticed that you have one of those giant umbrella reflectors. My grow guru was trying to sell me on them this weekend and I am getting just a bit curious. How do you like yours? That's a 1000 in there? All the plants seem to like it!!! They are really bushy.

BlueBear
01-15-2007, 04:27 PM
Yeah, it is a parabolic hood. I like mine for winter use. You really can't beat the light coverage IMO, 4FT diameter is the hood it self. I may get a set of air cooled hoods for the summer, or cut a 4 in hole over the bulb and put a duct fan on top and see how it go's.
The girls are not complaining though. Well with the exception of one that my wife keeps picking bananas off of.

Sup, dog. Been wondering where you went with those Children. They are looking sweet. I like that hood, too. I hadn't seen one like that before. So just the one bulb up under there? That looks like a real cozy space. Perfect for the winter up in the big blue yonder.

Looking good. Love the bud shot. What strain is that dried bud from? Like Stinky said, makes me wanna go blaze. I'm gonna go peep your Coco thread now. I'm very interested to see how you're doing with that. :D:D

Have you been around to peep my last update (p29)? ;) Whatcha think?

LOL I feel the same way about a couple of the grow logs!!! They are SO great to look at and need no nudging or prodding from the likes of me!!! :D The occasional 'wow those look great!' is plenty!

Bear, that is exactly what my fert guy was saying when I told him I will be getting away from early flowered plants and going towards big ol bushes... he calls them BOGbushes, lol!!! He swears that the 4-foot paras are the cat's ass for a big bush.

I have a care package for Ursula Azul by the way!

Looking good bear. The LST'ing looks real sweet - such tight nodes. I have done some research on LST'ing, was thinking thinking about trying it out with a few of mine next time - is it very time consuming? I am a busy guy and new to this so keeping up with 2000 watt grow has been an adventure in itself! Best of luck!

Hay gang, been a busy bear. Well, LSTing is a great way to maximize light penetration when growing a few plants or tie down some tall lanky girls who get a little too big for their britches. If you have a nice bushy strain and are only growing a few then it is a great way to go. I find that there are very complex ways to LST, tying down your plant from the first couple weeks and re tying down in different directions as the plant grows in order to provide more light to different parts of the plant for better node and flower sight development, but I generally just do a one time tie down at about 2 to 3 weeks veg or the first week of flower if I think that the girls might shoot up too much or if I think they will really benefit from it. I think that it is best to experiment by LSTing one plant and then letting another go natural to see how that particular strain reacts to it.
PostMan, thanks for stopping in for the last of the soil grows before everything is coco which most is in the veg cab already.
Fog, not a problem, I wish I had your energy, that's for sure.
KP, a little princes, always a pleasure to hear from you and I will check in with your thread soon. I have been around it, not more than a few days ago, but seems like your doing pretty good so far with the RW exception.
Well Bear hugs from Blue Adieu
