Does it mean you have something wrong with you if you only occasionally have dreams. It's strange because I only have like 10 dreams in a year. Why do I seem to not have a lot of dreams?

Probably what the deal is, Orangeman, is that you simply don't remember the dreams you're having. If you're experiencing REM sleep, chances are you're having dreams. But they tend to fade away for many people once we're awake, to the degree that it almost seems like we've not had any dreams. Try setting your alarm a time or two during the night and wake up in the middle of your sleep cycle, and you probably can catch yourself dreaming.

Some neurological problems, along with some medicines, can suppress the ability to dream. But chances are you're still having dreams. You're just not remembering them after you become conscious and awake.

Wow. Lol you're knowledge never fails to amaze me. Yeah, sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night I do sorta remember what I was dreaming about right before I woke up. Thanks for the info :D.

i love dreaming, but i also hate it. I had one really vivid dream once and i was with this really nice girl by the beach and we were laughing as we were climbing along the rocks. In the dream i loved this girl and felt like i new her all my life, so when i woke up i felt fuking gutted. Dreams i really mysterious and even though science puts everything down and ruins your view of the unexplained i still feel like theres more to it. I mean might sound stupid, but theres a fuck load of people in this world. What if she had the same dream? lol w/e i sound like an idiot so ima stop now hehe

you are having dreams, you just aren't remembering them. sometimes if you're awaken during 3rd or 4th stage sleep (which is hard to do, considering it's deep sleep), you will not remember the dreams. however, some people just are not good at remembering their dreams. you will remember your dreams the most if you wake up during stage 1 or stage 2 of the sleeping cycle. here's an idea for you to remember your dreams... everytime you DO remember a dream, write it down in a journal. write all the details you remember. Also, this is a strange way of doing it, but i have heard it works. Drink a lot of water before you go to sleep. Eventually you will wake up having to go to the bathroom, and most likely in the 1st or 2nd stage of sleep. And then hopefully you will remember the dream you woke up from. And the idea about the alarm clock is good one too. But make sure to write all your dreams down, to the finest detail that you can recall.

Wait I have a question. Sometimes I swear I have DéjÃ* vu. So I'm wondering what if the reason why is because I am experiencing in real life what I already dreamed about? If this is so, does this mean I can tell the future..in a way?

Well you smoke a lot right? The first half of this year I barely smoked...and I had vivid dreams like all the time...like some were very realistic. Then when I picked up my smoking again, I barely ever have dreams...so it might be that because of the smoking, you can't remember them? I dunno....probably has something to do with it though.

orangeman, i promise you the reason you dont remember your dreams is from smoking.

since i was was forced to stop smoking a couple weeks back, i remember my dreams every night. and they feel so much more vivid.

also, its a fact taht you always dream. you just dont remember them. iif you had no dreams while you were sleeping, your brain would stop thinking, and you would die.

REM is the key stage of sleep for dreams, and MJ use inhibits REM sleep:(

The theory I currently believe about deja vu is that when the universe was formed (from a big bang, etc.) it perpetually expanded outward. science now shows that the universe stops expanding and gradually closes in on itself, starting the whole process again; never -ending universal cycles. it's thought that each human soul is restored to its same life and habits (reincarnation). perhaps when confronted by deja vu, it's just a moment from the previous cycle you are remembering. maybe the memory of past lives is lodged in the subconcious and surfaces occasionally, causing deja vu. anyway, none of this really applies to this thread; I just wanted to see if I could turn an abstract thought into a cogent sentence. take care of your nuts

Everyone dreams everynight, its just a matter of whether or not your mind retains the information...
