One of my little ones (1 1/2 weeks old) has yellow splotches on its first set of leaves, but the other two seem fine. I moved the light higher- it was about two inches away, and now it is six inches - in case that was the problem. The light is a 40w warm flourescent. Can anyone tell from this picture what is wrong with the baby?:(

I don't see a pic. Check my sig in the plant problems guide and nutrient deficiency chart and try to match up your symptons.

yea, I couldn't get the jpg to attach- it said it was uploaded? I put in a post to the moderator for assistance. I am not very tech-talented!

Thanks for the great reference- it looks like heat stress- they are now about 6 inches away, do you think that is far enough away?

I will keep trying to get the picture up tomorrow.

Is it on the seed leaves or the first set of true leaves?

Is it on the seed leaves or the first set of true leaves?
I'm trying to figure out photoshop in order to shrink the picture, so I may have to post it tomorrow:o

It's on the 1st true leaves, but it wasn't there when they first came out. The other two seedlings right next to it aren't affected, which is what confuses me. The center strip of the leaf, around the veins, is yellow- the edges of the leaves are still green. There is new growth- little tiny 2nd true leaves, so hopefully by moving the light 6 inches away, I have prevented more damage.

My 600W HPS lamp will be arriving Monday, and I sure don't want to torch my seedlings, so how far away should the new lamp be? The seedlings will be about two weeks old by Monday, and about 1 1/2 inches tall, with two sets of true leaves.
Thanks!

Leave the 600 a good 2 feet away from the seedlings. Move it closer as they grow, but no closer than about a foot.

Check this link out.

As for photoshop, click on Help on the main menu bar along the top. There should be an option to resize images.

hello soon to be mom of liberian orientation... some times, lower fan leaves get these little spots on them, all of my blueberrys do, everytime... don't know what it's from, but if you are using warm cfl's, (wich i think you mentioned) heat can be a prob, as they produce more heat than the cool veg cfl's...

if you can, pick up some 6500k flouro's or cfl's, you can get them closer, and you'll notice a quick improvement in vegetation...

as for the 600, i'd leave it be until you're ready for flower. i only use flouro;s for veg, with outstanding results, plus it lowers my bill dramatically.

i also run my hid's at nite, so i use them as heaters too. also cuts down on the electric bill, as all space heaters use 1500w when they're on... and i don't need to run anything to cool the spaces, i just open a window slightly and let freezing cold air in. but generally my temps in flower are 78 degrees, give or take a degree...

ok, and last, you are growing blue haze, right? blue haze is a hazexblueberry, so your spots could be genetic and thats it... my blueberrys all get yellow blotches at first, clones and seedlings... you shouldn't have a cfl heat prob bieng more than one inch from the cfl; you only get cfl burns if the plant touches the bulb... i'll get you some pix tonite, for comparison; my op is stalled, so i'll be spending the next few weeks trying to help others, as i'll probably need help when i go to setting up again.

now i have to find your sativa thread...

love, kp:p

Hi kp- I am relieved that the yellow splotchy stuff is common to Blue Haze, because now seedling number 2 has some- very small, but still...I moved them so they are now under a 40w "Natural Sunshine" light- it's full-spectrum and supposed to be good for growing, isn't it? I have four of those, so if you think they are ok, I will surround the babies with them.

I am also keeping the lights on 24 hours- maybe that is too much for them? I have a timer and was planning to switch over to 18/6 once they had two pairs of real leaves (not sure why I decided that) but if you think it might be part of the problem with yellowing, I will switch right now.

The second set of real leaves are coming out, and they are so perfectly beautiful, I feel like a mommy cooing over a baby's toes!!!

I'm going to send for some cheaper seeds from seedboutique- stinkyattic recommended power plant, and I would feel better if I had more than three plants growing at a time...seeing as how they might turn out to be boys.

I am going to work on sizing my pics so you can see what I am trying to describe.
Thank you!

now that the true leaves are coming out, you should be having all green. i run 24/7 religeously, and i don't think that the light cycle would have anything to do with our yellow spots.
