Why only 3/5 months?

Why did you drop out?

Do you realize how hard you're making life for yourself?

My advice: Sell your drugs, which have NO use in the long run,
and use the money to buy yourself some books, a nice outfit, and maybe a bike. Start getting a job, SAVE YOUR MONEY, and use every advantage you still have.
This is only if you decide to stay out of highschool.
And eventually, if you still decide to take this route, you're going to need to take either the Chspe, or the GED. Just something to be aware of.

Honey, unless you go back to school you won't get a decent job! Be realistic. If you can't stand high school, get your GED. But unless you want to spend the next forty years asking "Do you want fries with that?" or dodging the bullets or the law, take off the blinders and go after success. I teach college kids and every day I see how it is possible for kids to make their dreams come true- and no dreams will come true for you if you keep following this path! Don't be stupid:mad:

You can be a dishwasher at a resturant making 6 bucks an hour...

Either go back to HS or at the least get your GED.

With that you could get a job at a plant making pretty good money. It is very hard to get a job for places like that though, being black may help though (since you felt the need to include that...)

But with out at least a GED you won't be able to do anything.

You may not like this fact, but you made it about school when you said you dropped out at 16. Then you happened to mention that you're on a deadline to find a job and an apartment. You also mentioned that you're black.

Maybe you can't see this yet and some of this input will help you to get this in perspective. By dropping out of school, you basically cemented your destiny to become a tragic statistical reality, particularly for a young man of color. Lack of education. Lack of prospects other than drug dealing and crime. Lack of opportunities. By dropping out of school before you've received a diploma, you've just increased your likelihood of becoming a crime victim yourself--and of perpetuating the same vicious cycle with the children you will father in the future.

Please listen to reason. Education is your ticket to a better place. To a decent job. To a hope of rising above the circumstances you currently find yourself in. To hope for the next generation. Please find a way to return to school or get that GED. Then try and get more education past high school. It's the singlemost important way for young people to get ahead, particularly people of color. I'm not saying this because I'm a racist but because I'm a well-informed realist. You should be, too. If you doubt the accuracy of what I'm saying, do some research into the messages to young people from the NAACP or the speeches given by Bill Cosby or Senator Barack Obama. It's not too late to make a difference in your own life.

I teach Creative Writing, Philosophy, World Mythology, English, and Humanities Through the Arts. I'm fortunate that I have degrees in a couple of different disciplines, so I can switch around when I get bored-

Wow thats really great..good for you. I always knew some college professors got high...some that I've had were some of the deepest people I've ever met....Now were you always a smoker (I'm assuming you are lol)..even when you were in school? If so that proves a lot...so for anyone who thinks they can't accomplish anything because of marijuana...think again...cuz this one right here did it!

I dunno what you're gonna do now being a dropout and all, but make sure that when you go to wash my car in 10 years that you scrub off all the love-bugs nice an' good.

Dude, go back to school, or get your GED. This is the MININUM requirement for you to get by. You really need to try and go past that if you can. Plenty of people have got by just fine with just a HS diploma or GED, but they've had to bust their ass to get past the low-income bracket. That or be really lucky.

I have smoked pot for about 35 years- with a 9 year break after I quit drinking (that drug almost killed me!) and was afraid it would cause me to relapse. But then my mom died and I thought "life is too short to live without smoking pot" - because I love it! I write very nice poetry when I'm high. I find it easier to stay in the moment.
I went back to school as an adult (after dropping out to be a model/actress for several years) and maybe that is why I wasn't distracted. I think teenagers should be very cautious about smoking too much weed though, because their brains are still developing, and they don't have very disciplined work habits. It's better to keep it to the weekends if you are trying to learn new things in school, but for artistic endeavors, pot can help free the muse :)

Great point..I definitely agree with you about waiting to at least graduating high school before making marijuana a daily part of life.

just so you know dude. my aunt dropped out of high school when she was 16. now she's a branch manager for one of the largest banks in australia. and she's a minority too.

the path you've chosen is a long and arduous one. but maybe that's because you don't like things to come easy.

but dude, get your ass back in school.

lol, pot has nothing to do with it,, it really doesnt
it all depends on the person,,
some ppl see pot as the worst drug,
some see it as a medicine,
in both cases, both are correct,
the ppl with weak will power and self control see pot as a very dangerous substance(not physically, but mentally dangerous), this also includes ppl with a very addictive personality.
because everyone is unique and different in their own ways, each person has a different outcome with substance abuse..
i know this because of my experiences and in many cases, have witnessed many different outcomes from multiple people with marijuana abuse,
but even the ppl who have those problems listed above, can turn out well with marijuana abuse,
it all has to do with mind control and self-disipline,
in alot of cases, the reason why ppl cant seem to quit marijuana after years of abuse is because they have grown into the habit of lighting up and it has adapted into their minds that this is what they do.
also, smoking mj habitually can create slight physical discomfort when not under the influence of the substance,
the reason is because marijuana effects the immune system,,
the immune system is one of the most important parts in the human body, as it fights off bacteria and viruses to keep u looking and feeling good..
but because of this lack of power in the immune system, ppl may not feel as good mentally and physically as they once did when they were MJ virgins(when u never smoked)
because of this, the human mind automatically thinks they need MJ,
not because it feels good to be high, but because it feels bad being sober,
the first thing the human mind detects is discomfort in the body or mind,
any form of discomfort will be rejected by the brain (meaning the human mind with attempt to find ways to either get rid of this discomfort, or somehow delay it) . because the mind has the knowledge that MJ can delay the discomfort, some ppl canot control themselves and give in.
others in some cases understand that MJ will solve the problem for a period of time, but know that in the long-run, will not help and just cause them to go into a endless cycle.
the ppl that do not give in are the ppl who are very well disiplined.
disipline is the main key to all this, without it, ur hopeless, really.
self-disipline causes the mind to realize and accept harsh realities, but at the same time, not give in and fight it.
fighting it will be uncomfortable, and will make the human mind weaker and think less critically(reason why ppl give in), but when the disiplined part of the mind kicks in(not everyone has this, but anyone can learn it in time, it all depends on if u chose to or not), it takes the discomfort and pain, analyzes it, and learns to cope with it or deal with it. that is when the overcoming process begins,,
some people dont even need to take these baby steps to achieve their goals to quit, this is because they grew up very disiplined and and have this skill already nailed down. all it takes for these ppl is a quick thinking, and then accepting and agreeing to it.
having urges and times of low does not mean u have weak disipline, because EVERYONE goes through this, disipline just helps keep these negative effects in check. so just bcuz u feel like ur about to to give in and have all these urges, doesnt mean u have to, it just takes time to cope with it and accept it. all in all, anything can be done or achieved when u put ur mind to it,, its no different then putting ur brain to the test, some fail some pass.

Dropping out...well it's obvious you're having school problems so what you should have done was go to an alternative school. It's still not too late, just go and get your credits and go back to a normal public school and stay focused and graduate.

i never understood dropping out. at all. i mean the earliest you can do it is 16. and by then you have already had well over ten years of school and you cant take two more. not to mention you can go so so much further with the highschool diploma. you deserve what you get, you arent going to be able to get a good job either. i wouldnt count on becoming a bank manager. for every one dropout that does that, there are a thousand mopping floors and cleaning up shit. also i have no idea why a sixteen year old high school dropout would want to spend that amount of money on a car. or maybe i do.

I dropped out almost 6... or was it 5 years ago.. I can't remember, I've smoked myself retarded.

....

But seriously, I was 16 when i dropped out and did it for very good reasons. I also went right into full-time work in a retail store.. You can do okay but the fact still remains that you need to be educated. Whether it from someone else, or yourself.

Proper.. law abiding education

the fact that the kid has made almost no posts on this thread and given us no valuble information other than the fact that he did indeed drop out of school leads me to believe that hes already either too fucked to save himself, or just doesnt care, so all these suggestions of what he should do are basically pointless. imo.

You don't say if you have some huge trust fund waiting or your family has a business with an opening for you so I am guessing you don't...and Nissan Maxima's cost big bucks and not really in the financial realm of burger flippers and car washers. But it is a nice dream! Perhaps the army will be in need for drop-outs in a couple years when you're old enough to enlist and you can get your GED through them. Beyond that, you have a dim future ahead, sorry to say.

I dropped out of school at 17 and believe me I immediately regretted it. I admit that I loved not being and school and just working a part time job, but that got old and I realized the mistake I made. I went back to the school on my knees begging to get back and finally got back in. They put me in this program called excel...which was not on main campus, but it was only 4 hours a day and let me go at my own pace to get credits. Long story short I finished school 6 months earlier than I would have if I wouldn't have dropped out. So in a way I'm kinda glad I did drop out...but I got lucky.

All I'm sayin is maybe you could look for a educational program like that and hope for the best. Good Luck!

You got the potential to be successful regardless of education. However when shit hits the fan: job loss, sickness, arrest, disaster, it's insurance to have a degree to fall back upon, and makes changing careers easier. That is the biggest lesson I learned because I didn't take education seriously after I got a big payday and dropped out of college. Then the storm set in, I lost it all, then god poured salt on my wounds. Life swings in so many ways, you have to have some way to brace yourself.

It's your free-will what you want to do in terms of your education, people can't change until they experience why they want to change. It would be truly a shame to limit your opportunities.

this kid hasnt even replied to anything past 25 posts, How hard is school in georgia. I breazed through highschool like it was scratchin my ass, whats to problem. This goes for all H.S. students im currently in college pursuing a degreen is physics education. Stay in school, and yes atleast get a GED, 20 years old and no education, ur an immagrant at that level, getting the jobs they would. It's ignorant kids that think life is hard, high school is bullshit, college is a whole different story. No one gets jobs now with out atleast a highschool deploma, common knowlege, just go back to school, its not a question it will make your life alot easier in the future, unless you want to work at BK your whole life.

get your fuckin ass back in school?? How the fuck do you expect to pay for a 2000 maxima, saying something, and being able to do it are 2 different things......It's your choice, so sell the oz, and keep grabbing oz's till your back on your feet moneywise, and don't smoke all of it, smoke maybe 1-2 grams and sell the rest so you can just flip your 150-160 into 250-280, and keep doin it till you have a couple 100 down...........

serously... im going to be laffing when you have truency police at your front door over the becca bill(i belive its a thing all across america and not just america) with the new, no child left behind bulll shit, you cant drop out until you 18... trust me... thats one of 2 reasons why i actualy go to school.. if i didnt have them breathing down my neck... i would already be working full time...(not a job i want to do, but it would be monney in my pocket) it was a job running a chain saw for a smaller logging company around my town, that sold all of their logs to a bigger saw mill that would in turn, sell it to a trus plant(they build the stuff that holds up the roofs on houses, so that it dosent have to be built on sight costing more time and monney) and i would be making 23 dollars an hour under the table, 12 hours a day...(all under the table because of the hours, certainaly exceed child labor laws, and because the job it self, exceeds child labor laws...) but none the less...i could be living in my own house if it werent for the becca bill(no child left behind) but this was a job that was offered to me, by one of my older friends dads, after i moved back in with my mom...(well... it was actualy offered to me when i was 13, but they couldnt hire me(because of child labor) and re-offered it to me, with-in the past months because of my moms house burning)... i dont know what to tell you except get off your ass..... find a job, SAVE ALL OF YOUR MONNEY until you have enough to buy a hydro-grow set up... and about 20 seeds.... and grow them... find a dealer who will buy your entire crop off of you, sell half the crop(10 plants worth of bud) for 3 times the amount of the hydro gear and seeds... then sell the other half at a later time for about 4 times as much as the hydro gear... and then take all of the plant matter(stems and leafs and what not....)cook brownies.. and sell them at work...

just my sudjestion...
