Middlesbrough, Premier League (not for long), UK.
We are doing crap at the minute. We beat good teams like Chelsea and Arsenal, and lose to crap teams like Sheffield United and Watford. I cannot fathom the logic.

I just had a great idea. An American football team, should verse an European football team. (Not American soccer)
That'd be interesting.
It's obvious who would win, the Euro's wouyld. I mean, they run around on a feild much bigger than US football, for 90 straight minutes, even more. US football the longest they run for is what, not even 20 seconds at a time.
Euro soccer takes more running and sprinting rather than taking and giving hits, so both leagues would have their pros and cons. I know one of thos fat bastard defensive tackle US football players couldn't keep up with a Euro player, but a Euro player would also get flattened by one of those fat bastards. :p
So really, both kinds have their pros and cons and calling either of them pussies is not fair. Both require muscles that most people here haven't even discovered yet, so unless you can do better yourself, you're in no right to slam either/or.
Holland all the way though! :D

Lol, YES, go Dutch!
This is just to point out how TRUE nochowder's post was. Re-read his for effect, and if it doesn't sink in and some hotshot hardass still wants to call soccer/football players pussies, I might just laugh.
Players from both leagues are supreme athletes, so it really would be interesting, as well as entertaining, to see the outcome.
I think if it did go down, Thierry Henry would just launch a shot at T.O.'s chest, killing him instantly. Lol, that's what I'd do at least. Just shoot at the fatter linemen and hope you hit them before they de-rail me. ~

Australian Football:
full contact sport
no protective gear
AND with an oval ball.
Poms and Yanks got nothing on us.

Hey PP, 'course I remember you. ;)
They found my secret garden. And they put me in the realm of the evil people. So I couldn't/didn't want to visit the site anymore.
Apart from all that, I'll be frequenting the forum again, but not the growers section. (sorry pp, had to give up the hobby)
Sorry that I couldn't let you know that I had gone. Mais c'est la vie.

Ok guys this wasnt a thread entitled "what sport is he best"? As its football hands down.
This was a thread to discuss football.
And to the guy who supports middlesbrough, I agree with you, what is going on with your team at the moment? Talk about inconsistent, but this is just ridiculous. You wont go down but I think top half is the best you can aim for.

Its like playing under Steve McClaren again, negative, shitty defensive football. Had we won the European Cup, we would STILL be as we are now. We are consistant at being inconsistant.

I am not here to flame, I come in peace. Can someone explain to me the strategy behind soccer, like how your un plays, set picks, etc. The way I see it and from playing a little bit understand is it is kind of setup like lacrosse or hockey. You have a goalie, some defensive players, some midfielders who play both, and some attackmen who play offense only. It is very similar to Lacrosse as I see it. One team could have an explosive offense so they let's say they get a shot on thei goal and the goalie saves it. He would now want to clear this ball to his attackmen as fast as possible to catch the other teams midfielders off guard and create a favorable matchup and a chance at a shot on goal. Close? Another team could be set up as a very skilled deliberate bunch who focus on getting the ball to all members of the team and moving the ball always while moving down field, because eventually there will be a gap in the defense which is when you strike and strike hard. Close?
This is what I have seen by watching it.
