hiya,
i started flowering on 11-17-06 this is what the girls look like tonight. (think i started flowering to late...but would like to fix the problem.)
the problem i'm having is that i can't raise my light anymore and close the doors. the girls keep growing up and burning the tops. i've talked to a friend who suggested bending the tops down which i've done as much as possible but the stems are so big and thinck that they don't bend real easily without breaking.
i don't want to cut off the tops... but i know that tom. when i wake up the girls will be at the glass and burning.
HELP what should i try next?
thnx in advance
blondie
You are right not to top them. What I would do is get a piece of screen like chicken wire or something and use it to push the tops down. Get the kind that has about 1 inch squares. Rig it so it stays there tight. In effect you will be constructing a makeshift scrog setup.
I don't know what else to suggest.

hey P,
? this is a "self contained unit" when i get wire is there a specific kind i should look for so as not th mess with the rest of the gr?
i'm thinkin that i can use duct tape (macgyver style) to put it up? will this hurt the inside of the room? is there a better tape?
thnx in advance
blondie
Ya use duct tape to attach it to the sides of the cab. It won't hurt anything.
No specific kind, just whatever you can get your hands on. Go to your local Home Depot and check out the fencing section. You can use the metal or plastic kind, just get the something with smallish holes in it. Cut it down to the size of your cab. Fit it over top of your plants and gently push down, then attach. It should work alright.

High blondie, first up, give those ladies a trim, small but equal trim.....then start A.S.A.P tieing down thos main branches and only at about a rate of 1 inch every 2-4 hrs downwards.......its time to start SCROG'ing girl.....not in the morning......now!!!!.....now!!!......now!!!.....af ter you do this, then add a wire mesh screen as mentioned above....because you want to help the plant, so do the tieing first, this prepare's the plants for the wire screen..also i would suggest going 3" & above with the wire squares...... peace out and good luck.......keep us updated :rastasmoke:

ME they did just take off, when i did research and talked to some of the people i know who have grown in soil they said the claims of the yeild being made were BS well i think the claims are proving true hydro will produce more.
now all i have to do is get them to behave. :) thnxs

Remember...They are only doing what is natural and go easy on them. Explain to them that this action is necessary for them to fulfill their destiny. Give them stern love.:stoned:

I don't think nit is a good idea to trim at this stage...You are too far into flower and trimming could hermie the "lot" of them.
Get a string trellis at the garden store, and put it over top of them and tie down, or do what I used to do, before I got my grows under control. use big "Nuts"...like nuts and bolts, "Nuts"...and use a twist tie to attach the nut to the top of the plant to weigh it down...Works great, If the top is weighted down your under branches will fatten considerably, good luck.

If you can handle it...Just bent it over about a foot or so from then top. I will try and find piks...peace. I changed to new computer and don't have my pik software set-up yet...

"jay, you're a total trip dude...KP"
- You don't even know girl.:yippee:
Blondie- You are doing a nice job keeping them healthy. With the love and attention you are giving them there is no chance they won't give back to you.
Latewood -I just read Soma's "Organic Marijuana Soma Style" tonight. The dude is really spiritual about his plants and it is crazy but he absolutely advocates and promotes supercropping. One of his only 2 examples in his book talk about growing NYCD and bending it. Are you Sure you are not Soma?

On T.H.SEEDS video they guy breaks or should i say softens the top branch about 6 to 8 in down fro m the top by squeezeing his pointer finger and thumb together until you it makes a crunching sound then rotateing his fingers and doing it again in the same spot then the top simply fell over he then put a stick in the bucket next to it and tied the head at 90 degree angle the outer part of the stem never was dameged my buddy did the same thing on 4 monster soil plants he did it 3weeks into flowering and got great results the head buds all grew sideways and flurished because of the avalible light i think no stress ever showed and the thing stood back up the next day he tied it down just an input good luck

I think they call it fim'ing...it does work...I found out when I accidentally broke one of my prettiest plant stems during 1st big grow back in the day...lol
brookerosebud
12-16-2006, 02:30 AM
actually, that's called super cropping... fim ing is when you top 3/4 of the leaf bud at the very top of the plant. you can get up to eight new branches this way, instead of the traditional two...
latewood
12-16-2006, 06:13 AM
that's right...sorry...I was being lazy and I didn't back check my info...right supercropping...It works.
I did try fim and I didn't like the results...I remember now...you cup the tops, then you get all these extra bud sites, but they cause more harm than good imo...
thanks brookes...

Blondie,
What set up did you get. I like the look and size of it.
Could you provide a link so I can see the setup?
I assume that you've gotten thru your first grow.
How many plants are you able to squeeze in there?
What were the final results? (grams)
Were you happy? What would u have done differently?
Thanks.

Hey K,
sorry for the delay in answering, i only used 3 spots and my strain is the doctor i started from seedling and flowered to late i currently have a forest had to leave for a couple of weeks and the guy that was wathcing my house was just putting in a gallon of distilled water a day and checking the ph and ppm for me so i'm a little behind. i have never used the nutrients that came with the system, they never came. i used BC grow, boost and bloom. they seem to work fine. as far as the cab i've had different difficulties keeping the res temps at an acceptable level required putting frozen 20 oz gatoraide bottles in hanging thru avail pot spots and covering the 2 lower fans with pantyhose to keep them from eating my leaves. for next grow i'm moving the cab to a cooler room in my house to hopefully help with temp control. hope this helps:)

Hey H,
sorry for the delay in answering, i went thru Sunlight Sheds Hydroponics Systems (http://sunlightsheds.com/) turn-key hydro sys i have the cool cab. i squeezed 3 plants in the cab they are monsters right now i'm running behind had to leave town. after cleaning the girls up it looks like i am going to have an ok yield a lot of it is going to be small nugs but in light of everything that has gone on not going to complain.
for next grow, starting from clone i am only going to do two spots so there is plenty of room and flower earlier.
hope this helps:)
