View Full Version : THC extraction from Hemp...

Being bored, i was googling hemp etc. i thought i google my favourite papers (zig-zag hemp papers) and loads of stuff came back on hemp paper. A little question popped in my head "how much THC is in hemp paper?"

Of course, nothing a quick google couldn't find. it ranges. It revealed that most places, the legal ammount of THC in hemp is 0.3% in europe (same in canada, not sure about US though)

Being a bit of a n00b, i thought i'd google cannabis THC content. i found various numbers ranging from 3% up to 20% but a lot of places say about 10%.

I'm sure you can see where i'm going with this. Another quick google reveals THC extraction is posible (from cannabis) using simply alcohol (and a few other household things.)

I thought i'd double check if the tiny ammounts of THC in hemp paper would actually have an effect and found...

http://naihc.org/hemp_information/hemp_facts.html :

To receive a standard psychoactive dose would require a person to power-smoke 10-12 hemp cigarettes over an extremely short period of time. The large volume and high temperature of vapor, gas and smoke would be almost impossible for a person to withstand.

From that i deduced that the THC in the is enough to do something, if you could efficiently smoke it.

So is it possible to go down to the shop buy a pack of 40 hemp rizlas (less than a quid,) add some everclear, do the extraction process thingy and end about four times the "standard psychoactive dose" of THC? If so, why has nobody done it? and if not, why has nobody found a way you do it?!

Cheers.

p.s. i'm quite certain im missing something here, someone must have thought of and poo-poo'd this idea before. I've just run upon this...

http://www.wctu.org/hemp.html:

However, fiber hemp, like all Cannabis sativa plants, does contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, in amounts of 0.1-0.6% and even up to 1%. Indeed, US homegrown marijuana smoked in the 1960s was only 0.5-1% THC, and marijuana as low as 0.25% can have psychoactive effects.

Hmm.....

LOL.

Buddy.

Just no.

There is no THC or any other active cannabinoids in hemp paper. Damnit, there's almost nothing at all in the hemp plant itself.

Give up now.

It'd be a waste of time and effort.

Like you said, if it was possible people would have already done it.

AND, if hemp paper had THC or any other active cannabinoids it'd be illegal.

Cannabis an hemp arnt the same plant, hemp is a "cousin" of the cannabis plant with a low THC % which is why it's used in industry.

When they talk about getting high they're not talking about smoking hemp paper, they're talking about smoking the hemp buds, where the trichomes are, containing the VERY small amounts of THC and other CBD's.
Cannabis is the one thats grown for it's resinous female flowers, called buds.

i agree it would definitely be a waste to try and extract thc from hemp paper, not to mention the industrial by-products you might also extract. but youre wrong about just one thing LIP, hemp and cannabis are the same plant species, its just that the industrial variety is a strain with very low thc like 1-2%

Hemp is a "cousin" of cannabis sativa. As we know, the THC is extremly low, but i havnt read anything about the other active CBD's, which would be interesting.

MrGuyUK.

Get some hemp seed, grow it out, flower and keep the females. Flower them, harvest, dry, cure and freeze. Try making hash from it. It might work, but paper... thats a no no.

Hemp and cannabis sativa have differnt genes. VERY similar, but as far as i know, differnt.

Hemp has like a .03 THC % in it, that is useless. :p

Hemp=Cannabis they are the same genus, same species, different strains
but yeah, hemp is pretty much worthless for smoking. you maybe could make some BHO if you had a shitload of it though.

smoke it

Neat idea though...

But really not worth it when you can get weed so much easier than extracting it from a ton of hemp products.

If we are ever in a major drought though, go ahead and try it!

But really, its not worth it. Cool thought process, but yeah...don't bother.

make it legal

Also, hemp has something in it called I think it's BHC or something llike that. That stuff actually counteracts the THC.

you should get 5000000000 pounds of hemp rope and boil it in a vat of alchoal.
