Anyone use'n a Cal-Mag product? Thought it looked like a simple yet effective additive.

I use a product called Cal-Max. Since using it I have not experienced any magnesium or calcium problems whatsoever, whereas before I used it I would have to add epsom salts. I hate to wait for the salt to dissolve though that's why I bought the Cal-Max.

I will be using Cal-Mag+ also shortly. I noticed some pale "dots" on 2 leafs, with a teensy rusty looking pinhole center. I think it's magnesium deficient, not 100% sure. I'm using hydro, so I'm currently running it with plain RO water for a few days to be sure it's not spreading before I nutrient or supplement anything.

Quart for 16$ isn't to shabby either, it recommends a tsp. per gallon. Should I treat it as a fertalizer, and start of 1/4 strength? Or is it safe to roll with what it says...

Mister E if you use RO water you need your Cal Mag. I personally wouldn't be without either. I always use 50% Cal Mag and 50% nutes (ppm=300....150ppm CalMag and 150ppm nutes) and have had excellent results. I use it at 50% of total ppm for the entire grow. This may be more (or less) than others recommend but I won't change it. Ever. So there.

You know why that is stuff is only $16.00 a quart? You know the 90% of the water you lose during the RO process? Well these guys come along and collect it, put it in a big bottle and sell it for $16.00.

I use Cal-Mag Plus and it puts iron in your solution along with the Calcium and Magnesium. A note about iron is that if you use a resi magnetic driven pumps remove iron(FE) from your nutrient mix. It is not usually a problem unless you are using too much pump for your resi size but it is nice to know that you have some extra iron as a buffer.
