View Full Version : What is the best sativa for a beginner?
liberiamom

I've got three Blue Haze seedlings about an inch tall, but feel like maybe I had better get some more seeds started in case these turn out to be guys.
My question is- for a beginner indoor grower who loves the sativa high, what is the best seed type to buy? I like to smoke before I clean the house, so I need something uplifting, bubbly, happy. I don't want to be a couch lump, which is why I think sativa is the way to go-
Any advice?
P.S. How do I set up my emails here so there is a disclaimer that says that everything I write is not really true, but rather a persona I have invented since I have multiple personalities?

I don't really know anything about growing, but, I'd say like a haze would be good.

I can't speak to the sativa strains, because I don't know enough to do so..
I can speak to this however...
First off, it is called a "signiture." Your 'e-mails' are known as 'posts' on a forum. :)
To change your signiture, you should go here:

I'd like to know this as well, liberiamom. I am in the same situation...but more trying to find something that is mostly sativa, but the size is more manageble indoors like an indica. I remember from an earlier post, that you have more room than I...I hope you start a log! Oh, and I wanted to mention- I am glad to see that you got your sprouts! I'll be watching this post and your log if you have one! Good Luck! S
Also you can change anything you'd like after you sign in...go to to User CP on the green bar above and click edit profile.
PS does anyone know if harvesting your plant a little earlier can forgo the couch lock or feeling like a bump on a log high?

Hi Taiden- I went to that link and it said I couldn't have a signature...? I also went to the CP like Bree said and couldn't find anyplace to write a disclaimer. I am not very tech-savvy obviously! What am I doing wrong?
I also tried to attach a picture of one of my dahlias, hope it worked!
I will be posting some pics of my babies when they are a little bigger. When should I move them to pots and what size?
Thanks for all your help dears!

There is a chance that the Moderators of this forum have made it so only "Registered+" users can have a signiture. The only way to obtain "Registered+" status is to make more posts. Perhaps a moderator can give insight to this.
I hope you don't mind that I played off your idea, I thought it too good to pass up!

Yeah I forgot that part. You can't have anything in your siggy til you reach so many posts....is it thirty, fifty? I can't remember! lol. it's not that you aren't tech savvy, just a rule the board has. Can't wait to see the updates when you are ready....gl again I couldn't see the pics of the dahlias. Did you click on the little paper clip in the reply to thread box? Then you have to upload pic after you have chosen which one. S

Hi Liberiamom,
Check out Pure Power Plant.
Mostly sativa, but bred for indoors and fast-flowering.
Seedboutique carries it cheap.
Bonus, it breeds true so you only have to order seeds once and then you can make your own.

Send them American cash. They accept it and IMHO it's a tad safer. My credit card company gets their shorts in a knot over international charges... had a fun time on my recent motorcycle trip to Canada when they decided to put a hold on the card because it was being used across the border... and I had NO cash on me. I was like, um, you guys ever hear of taking a damn vacation?

C99 or a C99 x. Mostly sativa and forgiving, from what I've read. Check out the departed ImageReaper's many posts about the JoeyWeed strains. Let me know how it goes. See? We can be friends yet!

Hi Good old Daze- Thanks for the tip- I will check it out -and I'm not mad at you- hey, when I am right, it doesn't bother me when others are sadly mistaken -heehee-
I know I am a bit sensitive about the sexism of our society- I spent many years as a model and was subjected to a lot of crap from a lot of men who just wanted me as arm candy, and I guess I am trying to fight back now that I am not so vulnerable to the whims of men in power. Now that I have my own power, I sometimes feel like kicking some ass ;) - can you blame me? This planet is still not nice to women, and the bad guys give you good guys a bum rap sometimes. Don't mind this mama bear, her roar is worse than her bite -
So, how old are you anyway? Do you remember the seventies? I really thought pot was going to be legalized back then- and then the 80's happened, damn! We've gone backwards ever since- I sure hope this country comes to its senses during my lifetime and repeals this stupid prohibition against weed- everybody knows God made ganja!
Later buddy!

I'm 32 (almost 33).
I just looked up where Liberia is. (Yeah, I skated through the American education system). Wow, not only are you a hot 40+, but apparently exotic, too? You dark? light? cocoa-cream?
I Don't remember much of the 70s. First concrete memory was learning how to write the date in kindergarten, circa 1979.
Anywho, good luck with your newfound sense of power, and those sativas. Feel free to e-mail

Good golly, 32? Ah you're just a baby! You are the age of my husband when I married him ten years ago- and now he has a lot less hair! But folks always tell me I look like I'm 32, so maybe you and I are twins separated at birth!
I wish I was that exotic- I've always wanted darker skin! My name (liberiamom) throws a lot of people- I'm actually a very fair-skinned caucasian brunette with big green eyes, but my hubby and I are halfway through the process of adopting one or two liberian orphans, so hopefully I will be a mommy of a liberian princess or prince someday soon! A friend of mine told us about some women who run an orphanage with 54 kids in Liberia, so we have been sending them $ and food for months while our paperwork is being processed. If all goes well, we hope to travel to Africa in the spring to visit the orphanage and bring home one or two little ones.
I have wanted a child for a decade now, so hope my dreams come true soon!
I am afraid my dear husband would get pissed off if I sent pictures of myself to another man, but just so you can get an idea, lately I have been told I look like Michelle Phieffer with dark hair, or Tina Fey when I wear my funky reading glasses :) When I dye my hair red, I look like Susan Sarandon's little sister (so they say) - so maybe that will help you visualize me better. I only see my faults when I look in the mirror, however, but I always hope other people see my heart when they look at me.
I'm sorry you were so little in the 70's- you missed a rockin' good time!
I was a Ziggy Stardust maniac when you were playing with toy trucks- but I bet you made up for it later, right?

in the future, i'll be setting up a sativa scrog closet; i hang a screen on the walls and ceiling, work it like a vine on a brick wall, then flower. hanging a hps in the very center (kinda like an inside out planet with the sun in the center of it all)
i just can't think of any other way to get past the size issue...

ps, i have a strain that's uppity, spacey, and will make you ponder like socrates... i call it sage, though its not the S.A.G.E. that's out right now; similar, but mine is unique as the fan leaves have one blade instead of 5 or 7 or 9... excellent compact sativa hybrid with minor couch. it will end up taking a 4x4x4 space by lsting. i'll be trying to hermie a clone to get some pure seeds, all the beans i have of this one are hybrids with blue berry and trainwreck. i'd like to breed for the single blade leaf; so far, all clones show this trait. it makes for a stealthy outdoor plant. i might be able to talk a robin into carrying a few your way, if you'd like...

I just read your other response to my sick seedling post- thank you so much for sharing your expertise with this beginner! How might I find that robin? I have been a flower and veg gardener for a little while, but this stuff is new to me- yet I find myself getting more and more fascinated with all the strains and growing facts- I may become obsessive with this (like most everything else I do!) and perhaps I could return the favor someday!

sorry, I was just having some fun there...I do respect your move to adopt kids in need...but it is also sad to think that even all the "you's" and Oprahs in the world won't even make a dent on the number of people who need help. And what about the kid's village friend left behind? That's real and heartbreaking...not a would-be foretelling from Revelation. But...one at at time, eh?
Anywho...back to sativas. have you checked out roadcam/image reaper's posts yet...here's part of one (of several) where he touts Joeyweed c99s. (No I don't work for him or them.
...
sounds like you want my favorite plant ... I must sound like a broken record, but this seems to be the "perfect plant" : stays about 30" tall, flowers to finish in 8-9 weeks, has a definite UP, visual high, with a good body feel ... it has virtually no odor, just a VERY slight 'lemony aroma', good yield (getting about 5 ounces dried, manicured buds, plus couple ounces of shake per plant), very easy to grow, extremely stable, and will KICK your ass ... what is it ? ... Joey Weed's NL99 ... http://www.hempdepot.ca/seeds/joeywe...derella99.html
Hemp Depot has fast, reliable shipping here to USA, just a great place to do business with ... these seeds run about $45/10seeds, and I recommend the extra fee for FAST shipping ... get an International Money Order at any post office, and you should have your beans in 8-14 days, roundtrip ... hope this helps ... pic of a good one attached ...

hi god (;)) No offense taken dear, but I had the idea long before Angelina and Ms. Madonna, and nobody would EVER mistake me for Sally S!
It has actually been a long road for us, first years of shots and medical crap trying to conceive, then pursuing adoption from China which was eventually denied because my husband had cancer surgery...then we met a woman who helped found a small orphanage of 54 kids in Liberia- so since March we have sent them stuff and hope to bring one or two back after going over this spring! If all goes as planned...!
Now if we had the money that Oprah and the others have, we would have been a lot further along, that's for sure- but we had to save up, adoption is wicked expensive. We are about halfway through the process, currently waiting for the gov't to process our application- that takes about 8 weeks and then we get fingerprinted for federal background checks (we passed the state ones- yea) which will be trippy, I think. (I will be pretending I'm on CSI or something in my mind while I'm being fingerprinted!)
Anyhow, thank you so much for the tip about the yummy weed, I will go money order shopping today- tis the season!

liberiamom, good luck with the adoption(s)...I REALLY want to know how you (or others for that matter) do the weed thing with kids. Unfortunately, I don't see myself the out-and-out hippie who can justify a confused message about smoking and growing against law, morality, even government conspiracy...I imagine there are a lot of people on this board with kids who smoke and grow. I want to hear (maybe on a different thread?) how it's done well...cause bottom line...I don't see myself wanting to stop smoking, let alone the personal growing.
Again, back to topic...you could also try ordering from Online Growshop Alien. It seems their freebies tend to be Sour Jack oe NLX, and from what I hear NLX is a Northern Lights White Widow cross leaning to the sativa side. You might want to place a small order, then e-mail them right away and ask for NLX.

"These are seeds made from Brothers Grimm stock. One of the nice things about this line is it's quite true breeding. You will get 99.9% of what you get from the original. Cindy is a very easy variety to grow. You will never get a hermy even if you mistreat her. She is cooperative and will show you the gender in the preflowers even in the veg stage. Cindy is easy to clone and will root readily. I've successfully cloned her even from cuttings taken after two weeks of flowering. Cloning is the way to go and after you pick out your favorite female plant use the clone from her to be the clone mother. Another great thing about this variety is it's exceptionaly low odor. It has very little smell while it's growing and it smells kind of citrus like or a faint lemon lime scent. If you were worried about stinking up your house or apartment, this will help keep you safe. The high produceed is out of this world! I would call it a super up high, the type that makes you want to do things and laugh like a loon. It's spacey and very cerebral. If you want something that will impress your friends this is it."

KP....I am very interested in this....You know I love the sativas..What is up with you? Are you having a change of heart????Couch got you too locked?:D
My 2 cents on the right strain...
In 2003 Soma had 13 year old G13 haze seeds. He only had one sprout and it was male. He crossed every strain he had with these males and got"a heavy sativa influence" to every strain he crossed with it. These willbe great for what you want. They won't be such a bear to train and keep in control. I am interested in his Somango x G13 cross.
On a bit less technical note Soma is the most spiritual grower I have come across and positive uplifting energy and love is something you can't get from just any strain. He really understands the spirituality of this medicine.
This plant can be used as medicine for your spirit as well as your body. Stress is the root of all illness and the Gvmnt prohibits this medicine....Move to Cali and GROW your medicine!

I believe I have figured out the rep system :stoned:
I still don't know what the little dots next to people's names mean...?
Also, how do you earn a + next to registered? I imagine it is based on number of posts, but how many?
This meeting place has so many interesting aspects. I've hung out on two other message board places (infertility and adoption) but this one has lots of fun stuff to play with :)
For example, are any of these sexy picture avatars of the actual people posting? Often it seems the opposite- guys with an avatar of a woman's well-displayed ass. It is fascinating to me to ponder the gender signifiers- I can usually tell whether a woman or a man wrote a particular post, but I wonder - are any people "cross posting" ???
It seems the relative safety and anonymity of posts enable us to reveal more personal information about ourselves, at least that is true for me.
I wish we could have a party sometime in the chat room- I'll bring the cookies. Let's set a time and get silly simultaneously
