hi all,
I watched a wicked cool movie yesterday called the Festival Express. It was a tour across Canada in 1970 with bands like Janis Joplin, Grateful Dead, Buddy Guy, Sha-na-na, The Band, The Flying Buritto Brothers, and a few more cool bands. They toured around Canada by trian, all bands on the same train, travelling together. All they did was jam all night on this train with each other and looked like a damn good time. They had a huge Canadian Club bottle of whiskey that had floating gel caps in the bottom, known as L**. They'd just stay up all night partying and jamming with each other.
It was filmed in July of 1970 and sadly, Joplin died from an overdose just a few months later.
I was wondering if anyone else has seen this flick? It was released in 2003 and I really enjoyed it. I love seeing footage from back in the day. Music was so real then, and all the bands just jammed, did drugs, and drank with each other the whole way there.
If you haven't seen it, and you're a fan of the 70's era of music, I suggest you check it out.
