How exactly is it suppose to mean that? Seems like just a bunch of random randomness to me... And drugs can't ruin your life, garwsh....

They all had "dreams" about how good life was going to be for them... And it's a requiem because all of those dreams died horrible horrible deaths.

What part didn't you understand about that?

The basic summery of the movie, as I think Tallulah tried to point out, is that all the characters wanted a way out of their shitty lives so they begin doing drugs, the mundane (like caffeine) to smack. Then they try to get better lives solely by means of the drugs, ignoring the truth of their addictions, and end up completely fucked.

Thats it. Prescription drugs, heroin, a girl sucking dick for her fix and preforming in front of men, another losing his arm. Drugs can ruin lives and that is what the movie was about. Notice weed was not a focal point of the film. Great movie by the way.

I have the sneaking suspicion that you have in fact never seen this movie. And are merely trying to guess as to what its about based upon their website. If this is the case I'll let you know right now, its not going to work, not by a long shot.

Requiem for a Dream exposes four paralleled individuals and their menacing addiction to heroin, cocaine, and diet pills (speed). Taking place in Brooklyn amidst the waning Coney Island, the drugs are very easily obtained and keep each main character in its cycle of dependence. The protagonist Harry Goldfarb is your typical heroin junky with an ambitious plan of "Getting off hard knocks," with help from his cocaine crazed girlfriend Marion and his long time friend Tyrone. Meanwhile his widowed mother is obsessed with the glamor of television and eventually finds her way to a dietitian who pushes her into the cycle of drug induced enslavement.

I read above by one who has no friggin clue that drugs can't ruin your life. What the fuck is wrong with you stupid? Drugs can and will detsroy your life if you let them. I have lost way too many people in my life to drugs and was almost lost to them myself. Drugs destroyed the lives of the people in the movie just like drugs destroy peoples lives every day.
Drugs kill and it is stupid people that let drugs kill them, I got smarter and quit them. I am not saying that I am a super genius, far from it. But I was smart enough to quit messing with narcotics and alcohol because they took away my dreams and my life until I quit them. I still do not remember my dreams, they have been gone for 20 years.

Actually, I think you'll find anyone that actually reads books will say the book is either always or almost always better than the movie (except for books that are written after the movie.)

i dont see how you cant see it being about drugs ruining lives. i havent seen it in a few years but if i remember right they took drugs and their lives got worse and worse and they were wanting better lives. the fight club book was better than the movie because the ending made sense, other than that they were about the same. norton and brad pitt did great jobs acting, i dont know how it would qualify as a masterful display of filmmaking though, and i am well aware they showed his apartment as a catalogue. a good movie but really a bad example if you are trying to think of movie being better than the book, the book was very well received
