When used properly, CFL lighting provides an estimated 0.3 grams per watt. Compared to the 1 gram per watt that HPS provides it just doesn't stack up. The good in it though is that they use less energy and don't get too hot unless you have a very strong CFL (usually the ones that need their own ballast). However, despite what most people say, YOU CAN GROW A PLANT TO HARVEST FROM ONLY CFL. It's true. So if you are serious about what you are doing, you might as well get an HPS unit. If it's just a one time thing or an experiment, then go ahead and use only CFL. Goodluck.

If you don't smoke a lot or want a really small stealth setup those lights will be perfect.
If you have a really well controlled environment, good lighting placement and LST you could probably get anywhere up to a 1/2 ounce. Grow time would be up to 3-4 months.
I would recommend only one small plant or more lights. Problem will be ensuring that the seed turns out to be female. If you can acquire a clone from someone it would be a better option. What are the Kelvins on those lights? eg. 2700K, 5000K, 6500K.

It's enough to get some smoke. But it won't be much smoke, considering how long it takes to grow the plants to fruition. If you smoke one joint a week, you'd probably be okay though. If you smoke more than that, you're better off investing the money you would have spent on your next ounce on an HPS light, and the money you'd have spent on the ounce after that on a fan, and go from there.

I got 80w goin for me right now for 4 plants.. so I'm to assume that i'll get 24g appx for each plant(80w x 0.3g), or 6g for each plant (24g/4plants).. ??? is this math right?
I'm tryin to get a few 50w HID MH bulbs.. does anyone know the yield-power those bring, as opposed to the CFL n HPS?

man... i just started growing yesterday and i see all these things about HPS and MH MID and all this crap.. i have no idea what any of it means. i have 2 25" 33 Watt Grow lamps, Actual grow lamps, i asked the dude at Canadian tire what i should use to grow some plants and he lead me to these. their light output is 470 lumens each. my grow box is 3 ft deep, 3 ft high, and 2 ft wide and the whole intereor is tin foil. i lie to you not it gets hot up in that shit. and REALLY bright. is this sufficient for my 2 plants? (their germinating right now, and arent even in the box yet.)

No, you'll get 24g total, but much more likely to be less than 16.

snail- one plant needs about 2000-3000 lumens in the veg stage, you will need a lot more lights when it starts flowering, and the tin foil can cause heat damage to your plants, you might want to get rid of that.

Genetics will also play a role in yield, so it could vary some. I dream of having a HPS, I'd have to order online and something about that wierds me out. Plus I don't have the cash now.
