I've been trying for years to be a morning person. I've tried going to bed before 10pm but I lay in bed awake for a few hours or so. I have a difficult time getting up before 8am and since I need to get up for work, I try to get my body into waking up early and feeling good about it. It's been several years since I've tried being a "morning" person and every day, I struggle to get up and every day, I am rushing to get out the door.

How do you "morning" people do it?

I'm the same way. For years I worked afternoons but now it looks like I will have to get a morning job. I hate it. I like staying up all night and sleeping all day.

I'm a night owl, stuck in a day job! it sucks, I hate waking up before its even light outside? waking upto getting ready for work when its still dark out sucks. getting up early sucks so bad especially my wife works afternoons, so she doesn't get home till around 10 pm, so we never goto bed early, but even if it was different I'd still fall asleep late in the night and dread getting up early for work everyday! lol

Im the same way cheery.
i hate when i try to go to bed 'early' and i sit and squirm around for an hour or so.
thats why i usually have the AC on. the sound is calming >.>..so is marijuana ;)

Yeah. I'm not a morning person either. On occasion I will wake up in the morning and feel good, but thats very seldom. Usually its just cause I wake up early and can't get back to bed so after awhile I'm wide-awake.

It sucks waiting an hour or two before falling asleep in bed. Luckily I can avoid that when I smoke a bowl before bed and still go to bed a little late.

I'm a morning person. By the time most of you read this (i know this for a fact because it aready happend :) ) I will have been up, been to work, and now im getting ready to start school for the day. I say you should try one of three things.

try out melatonin. Good stuff, i use it when i know i have to be in bed, but i don't want to.

Go to bed early. Do you hang out in your bedroom as well? I hear the more time you spend in your bed, not sleeping, the harder it may be to fall alseep. Same thing with being in your room in general, the theory behind this is well, you sleep there, so stay out otherwise.

Get your boyfriend to wear you out. My personal favorite method, everyone wins.:)

Good luck all of you late risers.

I'm a morning person, but I have to admit, at one point I wasn't. That's because I would stay up until 2am drinking my ass off, and having to get up at 6am to be at work at 7am the next day. :p

I don't party anymore though so I'm always refreshed and up early. I always up at about 7am everyday. Mon-Fri I don't work until 12pm, but weekends I start at 6am, so I have no choice really.

How do you "morning" people do it?

try going to bed earlier and earlier every night, bit by bit by like 10 mins or something, you will adjust and get more sleep and the more you do it the earlier you should wake, or more refreshed you will feel for getting more sleep

As much as I tried to be a morning person it never worked...

My theory on morning people...

People with simple thought patterns are able to sleep and wake at the crack...

People who think to much, analyze and plan have a much more difficult time at a "normal" lifestyle...

What leads you to this logic Skink?

Just observations,of family and friends... seems the ones who do the same thing day in and day out every day, watch the news at six and go to bed at 7,up at the crack,,,simple life... others,,, entrepreneurial, challenging different tasks each day have a damn hard time getting up...

i can sleep for a couple of hours and wake up refreshed, but i dont like to. i like to sleep for 10-12 hours. for me, sleep is the only time i get any peace inside my head, but my mind fights against me and keeps me awake no matter how hard i try to fall asleep. its been this way for as long as i can remember, cannabis doesnt help, it just makes my happy. ive tried melatonin, i take 4 pills of it every now and then when i really need to sleep but it doesnt work. it just makes my dreams much more vivid and allows me to control them when i do finally fall asleep. i just lie in bed for hours on end until finally exhaustion due to sleep deprivation takes me under. ive given up trying to fall into sleep at a set time and just stay awakem doing stuff because either way i'd be awake so i might as well do something constructive.

Well...my boyfriend is out of the question as his libido is quite low and he prefers to have sex (usually a quickie) early in the morning and I prefer it at night....I have tried going to bed early and I still wake up tired as shit...whether I actually sleep or not. I've never tried Melatonin...I'll have to check that one out ;). Thanks.

That's interesting, Skink because my life isn't scheduled and I am faced with a lot of unexpected things everyday. Hmmm.....

if i was a morning person, i wouldnt have dropped my 2 early classes. shit, i have to wake up at 9:30am to prepare and leave for my 11 o clock class, and i still think thats waking up early(even though i only sleep until 10-11 on a normal night).

Why is it that most people think that if you're not an early bird, you're not as productive or you're a lazy person?

I think that I get just as much work done, if not more, even if I started my day at 10 or 11 am.

I'm college right now, and it's my first year in. Working the 9-to-5 has been pretty easy, but when I had to start scrunching in everything and high-managing my schedule I kinda got used to it.

Moving so fast you really don't have time to think about the schedule. Making money, getting school shit done; it's nice, and makes hanging out and rare times I DO get to smoke really nice :)

For the past year and a half I was stayin up till 5 or so and sleepin past 12. I just got 2 jobs about 3 weeks ago and one requires me to be there at 6am, therefore I have to be up at 5am and work until 12. Then I have to cram in a lunch and be at my other job by 1pm and work that until 9pm... Lets just say my personal life has gone to a non-existant state and I'm a little more grumpy. I've gotten used to it a little bit but I usually never go to bed until a little after midnight and I too just lay there awake...I hate it...but as long as I have a beer in my hand afterwards I'm happy...and the money is worth it. :D

I think it has something to do with the time that you are born.

I was born in the afternoon, and so don't 'wake-up' til then.
My eldest son (also born in the afternoon) is the same.
My youngest son was born in the morning, and is up at the crack of dawn...godddamn it!

I usually wake up in a bad mood because I haven't died in my sleep and am forced to face the day...

lol

entrepreneurial, challenging different tasks each day have a damn hard time getting up...

I Think it has nothing to do with thought patterens. Its just mastering your body so that you can adjust to responsibilites.
