My Amsterdam Cannabis Cup Experience

Well first of all i just want to say that this was the biggest waste of time and money. The weed was just average shit that anyone can buy over in the states. In some case's. The weed is better in the states than in the dam. Most of the weed that they make and sell are mostly chemical bud. They put so much chemicals in the weed during the growing process that you can still taste it when you smoke it. Dont get me wrong. The weed got you high. Its just that Marijuana is suppose to be an all natural plant. Not a chemical plant. The hash was the same. It got you high, but its no better than just a regular bud off of the plant.
I visited over thirty shops in ten days. There are more coffeeshops in the dam, that i could have visited, but the thirty that i went to told me that anymore would be a waste of time. I visted shops like, BLUEBIRD, BARNEY'S, GREAY AREA, AMNESIA, BULLDOG, GREENHOUSE, and many others. All of them were basically the same. But i have to say one thing. I was impressed with one seed company shop that i visted. So if anyone wants to vistit the dam. I suggest that you drop by and smoke a fatty with this seed company. They have a great grow room display and the smoke is great. Probably the best place in the dam. This place in located the the right of central station if facing away from it. The shop is called DE DAMPKRING SEED COMPANY. This is the best place to visit. Just go inside and relax and smoke some bud with them. The owners are really cool.
This next section is what i think about buying a cannabis cup judge's pass. Its a total wast of time and money. You pay two hundred dollars to be a judge, then you have to pay to sample each entry into the cup. And there are a lot of entries to sample. So if you plan on going. Take at least an extra 1500 dollars with you. The judges pass's are a joke. You can still get into every party that is going on even if you dont have the cup pass. The only thing you might not be able to do is see the expo without it. But you can still pay 12 euro to visit the expo. By the way was a big waste of time. The only thing the expo offer's you in a buch of crap from vendors trying to sell there products to you. There were a couple of vendors offering free vape hits. But overall its not worth it.
I have to say that my cannabis cup trip was a total waste of time. If i was able to go back in time. Id beat my ass for going. Dont get me wrong. Amsterdam is a beautiful place. I did enjoy exploring the city. Its was probably the best part of the trip. Beside the Heineken Brewery. The best beer in town. So for all of you who want to go. Dont get overly excited about this place. I suggest going to this country during the spring time or even the summer. You will have a much better time.
All of my comments are my own. I know some of you will comment and say that im full of shit. Ive been smoking for over ten years. I have smoked the best. And its not in amsterdam. It comes from the mountains, in the great state of KENTUCKY. I would be willing to prove my statement, but the government of this land will not let me do so. So until we all make a stand and stand together. Marijuana will never be leagal in the U.S.

Wow, paying for samples is some bullshit to me. Especially since I would imagine its no more than a gram, and honestly we all know prices are fucking wack, it doesn't cost much to grow.

I can see how it may be overrated, and especially costly. I mean, the dam is a stoners dream so a lot of people probably love the cup since it means making mad money of dumb american tourists.

you just have to go right places, and not only amsterdam. If u go to ams, visit homegrown fantasies for some sweet sative (they have the BEST durban poison in ams). I found my best smokes in Leiden and not amsterdam. And believe me, you'll get FUCKED the very first day you'll set foot in holland, nomatter where you buy from :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

just wanted to ask a few things, firstly how much (in euro or AUD) is a pass for the full week and how much woudl a daily pass be, once your in i assumed you were given free weed to "judge" on, since u said u actually gotta pay i wanted to ask how much? also how much is weed there in general, would it be more expensive to buy a gram there than it would in Aus?

any other tips/info youd give to someone considering going?

for real ...i wanna goto amsterdam when its back to normal...not during the cup.....but amsterdam isnt really knwon for its good smoke...its usally just better cuz you can sit there and smoke it and if you run out you dont have to worry about your connections u just gotta go down to the shop lol....and maybe even eat a bite while your down there.....i think its thw whoel expirience of that ...not just the weed.

Not sure what you mean by that statement. I've never been to Amsterdam myself but have several friends who have and they say the quality of the weed we get here in the San Francisco area is just as good as anything they've got there. Actually, they like the weed here better because a good portion of it is grown organically and, like Kef pointed out, they can use a lot of chems over there. Despite the fact that they didn't find any wonder weed over in Amsterdam they all had a fantastic time, however, and totally dug the whole coffee shop experience.

Bottom line, no matter where you travel, if you expect paradise you'll be disapointed. Enjoy the place for what it is and not what it isn't.

First of all the cup pass to be a judge is 200 American dollars if you pre order the pass in advance. Its 300 Euro if you buy the pass at the event. Its cost around 12 Euro for a daily pass to the expo. However. You dont get any samples at the expo. Maybe a vape hit or two.
Even with the cup pass. You still have to buy the samples from each shop. Except for barney's. They give free samples of weed and hash. All others will cost you anywhere from 9 to 30 euro a gram.
As far as the prices of just regular weed from the coffee shops. The price's usually starts around 12 euro a gram. Some places thats not so crowded will give you two to three grams for the same 12 euro.
Dont get me wrong people. The experience is great. Just being able to smoke in public right in front of the police is great. The only thing you have to be careful about is how you act. If you act stupid and do stupid things. Then you will get into trouble. If you you smoke in public. Make sure you stay away from crowed areas and stay away from kids. If you able to do this. Then you will have no worries.
The reason i went was to see how good the weed is. I was disapointed. But thats me. Im used to smoking the f*cking kill from Kentucky. The same shit that goes to NY and LA and sells for 500 to 1000 and ounce. So for me i was disapointed in thier weed. But for all who still wants to go. Make sure you go with plenty of cash. The exchange rate is around 70-75 cents for every american dollar you exchange. Make sure you go to the dam square for the exchange. As for other locations will cost you more.
So if you go. Just have a good time. Your experience may be better than mine. Everyone is different. I hope this helps. :rasta:

I felt as ease when i was smoking in the coffee shops. It was very relaxing. The weed will get you high. But dont expect the effects to last that long.
The red light district is exactly the way you would imagin it to be. As far as going to one of the windows. Just go in and pay and do your business. However its a waste of money. You would be better off to service yourself and save your money for food or smoke. You need to know that most of the girls that are working probably have been with numerous amounts of people before you visit them. So it will not be the most enjoyable time in the world. Just use your money on weed. You'll feel better about it.
There are numerous people on bikes there. Its probably the best way to travel. But be careful. Its really easy to run into people. I suggest just to walk or ride the tram. Especially if your high. Make sure when your walking to pay attention. If you run into a bicycle rider. It will be your fault. And if you hurt someone. You will go to jail and have to pay any damage's that is caused.

it sounds like the thing that killed your trip was the judge pass, if you had just bought your own weed ahead of time and just enjoyed the expo do you think it would have been a better experience?

Forget being a judge just go for the party atmosphere.
Forget WEED (yes I said it) The Dam has a lot more to offer than just the drugs and red lights.(The weed is always top there I just think your expectations work against you)
Leiden is very well known to me and well worth visiting along with Den Hague (the place for serious growers as it has the best grow shops)and of course the best place for live music is Rotterdam.

I want to go to Amsterdam as soon as I can afford a trip there. It won't be during the Cannabis Cup though, because I want to see the tulips in bloom, and go when the weather is nice and warm, and when I can just hang out and relax and see the sights rather than be part of a chaotic party the whole time (although I'm sure it's an experience worth having once)

A lot of people here has got an misperception of my trip. I was only stating the facts of the cannabis cup. As far as me going back. Hell yes. The city is great. The only place on earth that is 100% tolarable on the sale and comsumption of weed. I will go back. I support all who wants to go and have a good time. This is the place for it. My next trip to the dam will be right after hell freeze's over. LOL Im just kidding. It will be in at least the next 5 years. There are far better place's to visit than going back to the dam. I suggest everyone should go to Ireland. This is my recomendation at this point. But if i go and it sucks. I will be here to state my opion. Amsterdam is sooo relaxed you can have a beer and smoke a spliff without worry. You may get better pot else where but remember this is a commercial product in the dam and it there to make money. when you go to amsterdam and you but pot you are buying peace of mind......

Wow, it costs that much to enter the Cannabis Cup? I wanted to go to that, but I had no idea that the judge's pass was that expensive, or that much of a bad idea...

I'm thinking I'll just go ahead and go early-Spring then, catch the good weather. Find a good smoke shop, buy some, and go walk through the country or something. My friends are going to Rotterdam, not Amsterdam, they seem to think it's better for some reason.
