Hey

i have a quantum meter that measures light, photosynthetic photon flux, in (micromoles of photons per square meter second) µmol m-² s-¹. The manual with the device says that full natural sun light should have a reading of 2000 µmol m-² s-¹.

I took a few readings on the canopy of my room which varied between 350 and 410 µmol m-² s-¹. While my clone box at the back
of the room is only getting between 50 - 80 µmol m-² s-¹ of light. My qestion is, are the clones getting enough light at this phase (still waiting for them to root)? And what is the optimum amount of light the bigger plants
should be getting?

Oh yeh i currently have a 1000w and 400w lights up but the clone box is about 5ft away from the these light sources. thankyou. :rasta:

Wow, I don't know what all those numbers and big words mean, :p but I can tell you this, freshly cut clones awaiting roots, don't need a lot of light. Too intense of a light, will burn and wilt them.

My buddy cuts 20 clones at a time, and as they are rooting, he puts all 20 of them under only 40W of floro. lighting.

Don't know if this answers your question, but clones do not need a lot of light while rooting.

Friend of Drknow
The meter is Apogee from http://www.gemplers.com/ I forget what I paid but it's listed there
The numbers are well explained at http://www.sunmastergrowlamps.com/SunmLightandPlants.html
Check the chart there
And a 40 watt bulb 6" away "IS" alot of light...
I will have numbers on that later
Commercial Propagation Boxes use as many as 4 x4 foot flouros
It's plenty of light but 000 heat....
Does anyone know the temp the water should be for a bubble cloner...
Thanx
