Whats going on guys. How long do you guys usually keep your mother plants around. If you put your mother in a five gallon bucket isnt she going to eventually get root bound. Do you need to keep transplanting her to bigger and bigger buckets every so often. Ive read about some people having the same mother for ten years, How does that work without even:stoned: :stoned: tually getting rootbound.

you can trim the rootball you dont have to use a bigger pot just remove and trim back the roots and put her right back in the same size pot.
you could also replace her with a clone from the mother as basicly they are the same plant.

How would you go about trimming the rootball without stressing the plant out to much. It seems like a very delicate process.

It'd be much easier to just make a cycle of life. Just take a few cuttings, flower the "mother" let those clones grow. Take cuttings from them. Flower the mother of the cuttings right after you take them and keep doing this. It'll be easier than trying to maintain a mother.

Im gonna go with your idea orangeman. It sounds alot easier and safer to do then cutting back the roots. Thanks for the idea anyway bejay. I appreciate all the help

I have had one of my mommy plants for ~ 3 years or so, and do exactly as orangeman mentioned - every 6 months or so make a few extra clones, and take the strongest one to be the new mommy. Plus you get the fun of flowering a ~ 6 month old plant. Always make sure you keep the most vigorous, don't keep an inferior clone for a mommy and you should be good for years!
