Just as it sounds... i know you cut in two different places... but are there any differences in the outcome??

If you FIM it right then you will have 4-6 flowering tops as opposed to 2 when you top it.

Can't you top multiple times to get the same effect....
I know that "each strain has a threshold for bud production that cannot be improved upon because it is a genetically predetermined factor", but i was wondering iff you could do either technique multiple times

Yes. You can even just top ONCE and then decide which side shoots to keep as they develop.
For plants that seem to have early vigorous side growth, those are the ones I pinch, and then when they go into flower I choose the strongest 4-6 stems to become the main colas, and remove other weaker side branches. You can then use those for clones!
