Ok yall i just had to get on the boards and post this one.... I quite honestly can say ive never had a experiance like this one... Tonight around 9:00 pm (central time zone) me and my buddy went out on a route.... Just like usall all the same we get the weed i roll a blunt and we head off... Soo were like 3/4 the way done with the blunt and were heading up to a intersection.... My buddy who absolutley i trust fails to stop at a stop sign... He looks left,, no car..then he fogets to look right and immiediately pulls out in front of a car that hits our car on my side of the front passenger seat.... in the long run no one got hurt... Very fast speeds.... I can say im getting off free becuase i want the driver... :( unfortunetely my friend will be getting 2 tickets and one being a DUI... Its sad im 17 and he's 18... That in a blink a simple blink and ur life flashes in front of u... If it wasnt for my seatbelt id be dead... Im not critizing driving and smoking bcs i do it all the time, but please PLEASE BE AWARE..... sorry for the rant its just im still in shock and had to express this..... :o

in my opinion, driving and smoking is irresponsible... your reaction time is slowed down, etc... you can never be as aware stoned as you are sober, therefore putting your own life and the life of others at risk

see, and you know what woulda happened if that other person would have died, your friend would be up for trial... i tried telling people here just a couple weeks ago you may think you drive good, but c'mon your stoned, shit slips, reaction times are slowed (whether you wanna believe it or not i'm not going to argue when i know what i'm saying is simple fact) i forget to do some of the simplest shit when i'm stoned.. i can't imagine just becuase i get in a car that i'm all of a sudden going to remember to do everything i should be doing to make sure i and other motorists are safe... hell no i'm stoned, i'm at risk for forgetting something as simple as stopping at a stop sign, which can turn out to be very deadly..

driving high is a very dangerous thing but everyone loves burn routes, cant deny that. best advice is get your friends out of the car asap so your driving by yourself and not putting other in danger.

yea driving while stoned is dangerous, but its not like you forget the major things, like driving stoned wont cause you to hit a pedestrian pulling outtve the mcdonalds drive through. or drive off a cliff. but it does make you do small things like run stop signs lol, and running stop signs can be deadly as you jsut found out. i bet youll never go on a burn route with him again because you be too nervous and you wont enjoy yourself......lesson learned

Driving high is both STUPID and IRRESPONSIBLE. Always remember that if you do end up hurting someone both you and the other people in the car can get in some real serious shit. It isnt worth it and it gives weed smokers a worse rep.

Alright, all the 'driving high is bad' people have said their peace.
Now, to represent the 'high drivers'....your young ass needs to get off the road. I smoke and drive and I am very very careful. I have never been in an accident at all before and consider myself a very defensive driver. However, I am also a motorcycle rider. You know when your buddy pulled out, if he would have hit a motorcycle, he probably would have killed them. Just something to think about. I'm glad you had such an experience. A few of my friends are dead because they were irresponsible. You don't just "forget to look right". If you can't handle the blunt and drive, get off the road. If i would have died because your friend 'forgot to look left'....i would be pissed.

sure, you are probably an excellent driver while stoned. i am one myself. i havent ever gotten into an accident or run a stop sign or red light in my life while stoned.
but still man, you have to admit that driving stoned you have a higher chance of getting in a wreck than when you're 100% sober.
thats shitty for you guys....especially your friend, dui's fuck you over :/

maybe. I think the chances increase when you have more than just 1 person in the vehicle. When I'm alone, I have no problems or close calls. Im from the boonies and you grow up driving impaired, thats just how it is. If you can't handle the drink/smoke with the keys, don't do it.

Smoking whatever you're smoking is the same as anything you're drinking.
You lose control when you're high or drunk ,but basically I think they are both the same. So maybe it should be uncontrolled thinking? You're impaired so nothing functions normally.
It's been the same old message don't drink and drive, for parties where the booze is at, it's always stay home or get a cab. But I mean have health governments ever mentioned deaths caused by being high and driving? I've actually never heard of that in the news or anywhere. Same goes for bikes, motorcycles, motor boat and other forms of controlled transport. I get the idea of recreational drugs, but stay safe while high.

I would have hoped this near death experience would have made you think twice about driving under the influence of any substance. I guess not. Next time you might not be so lucky. USE YOUR HEAD!
