Well CaliJay,
Someone may disagree with me but you are dealing with serveral items not just light. They include proper nutrient amounts, ventalation and plant genetics. It's a fine balance of factors to achieve your goals. Keep growing.

Cooler temps, no Super Thrive in flower, molasses 1 TSP per Gallon, using a bloom enhancer the last 30 days of flower and keeping the lights as close as possible are just some things I can think of right now to help.

Hi CALI JAY
Keep the light as close as possible.. NO more than 10 inches from your canopy.. THIS is KEY to monster COLAS..
You will need to draw the heat up and away from your foliage to get the lights as CLOSE as POSSIBLE....
You must also provide maximum nutrients possible without burning your plants...

Hey guys, thanks for the replies...even you Ride...Will the night day temp flux affect the density?
Hey Gnome...Saw you were in the bay. I am in Sac. Nice city officials you got there.Pretty compassionate and forward thinking MJ policy now. I may just have to join you down there soon.

MY plan is to put a 70 MH i have shining under the canopy and 400 watt HPS above. so i get more light to bud sites tht would otherwise be coverd.

Hey Cali..

Once you're ready to flower, put that hps down so it shoots them from the side, put the mh over the top, getting light to the middle seems to work pretty darn good for me, but the hps on top still works just fine. I've noticed a serious lack of stretch when I move my main light(s) to the side during flowering (instead of leaving it overhead) and the penetration is most excellent.

Thx 4x5 I have been kicking around the idea of of supplementing with some 4ft flouros in between plants to fill in bud sites. I think the flouros would be best for temps. Thx for the input.
I will hit you up Gnome...

My apologies if I came off like a dick... Purely unintentional.
4fts would be good, the only problem I had with them was the size of them. I use CFLs as side lighting and can def. see a difference. The smaller size makes them easier to work with...
Best of luck to you!

Very close light, lots of light, proper nutrition, lots of air circulation, good temps and humidity and CO2. Do all of those and if your not getting huge buds...then its the strain your working with or your cursed.
Personally, everytime Ive done hydro ive got huge nugs, but not always with soil.
