Amsterdam in December

Im off to dam in december, im looking to go xmas shoppin anyone got any tips? plus has anyone been in december before if os what isit like? weather, atmosphere..etc

Also will all the same places be open like usual? the dates im going are the 18-21st anyone else out there during them dates?
