Psycho posted this on a different thread but i actually thought it was a really good diagram of how effective the taser can be...
So the next time someone tells you they took a taser hit and kept going you can expose the bullshit.

I can see these being the norm in the future...

Won't matter to me, I won't ever run from the police

I believe there a cheaper version of a taser..something like a stungun? I think its a cheaper version. Maybe they're talking about that. Then again, i dont know and a stungun can be twice as bad.

actually, i see more advanced weapons being the norm in the future... not nessicarily just taser-type weapons... i invision a weapon that shoots those shitty painful rubber balls (or bean bags) that are capable of sticking to a person and disabling them... if not that, then i just invision smarter guns, maybe even bullets capable of steering themselves clear of unintended victims? some how i doubt lethality will be taken out of the entire picture anytime soon tho... i give it atleast another 30-40 years before basicly every person responsible for up keeping the peace is distributed with a primary weapon other then conventional guns that just severely injure or killl people...

I have seen a video of this crazed 350 pound dude that fights off four police officers that have to TASE the dude twice to put him down. I never want experience that or pepper spray either.

out of the two, i think i'd much rather be tased then sprayed in the face with that shit.... i've had jalapeno juice in my eye, and i've been electructed to shit, i much prefer the elecricution to the spray, as the electricution stops when the button stops, when the button on the pepper spray stops, you still got another 30 or so minutes until your eyes stop burning so bad you want to rip them out of your skull...

My friends in the process of becoming a cop (we use to toke all the time :-p) and one of the procedures is you have to take a full on spray of pepperspray to the face. He said it was the most pain hes ever been in.

LoL

Now if they could just combine the two ideas

We have a couple of friends who are cops and one time we were having a party and one of them showed up. Still not sure if someone complained or not. But anyway we were having a taser contest. Who ever screamed the less won. That shit hurt like hell, I did it once and that was enough. I'm sure it would have been worse if I weren't drunk and stoned at the time. It was fun watching everyone else get shot with it, but when it was my turn I screamed like a girl.

Actually the cops use the weakest version of the taser/stun guns. It's a combo unit with interchangable heads that puts out 50,000 Volt. This is the common voltage for the air taser but stun guns can go much, much higher. The stun gun I've got is rated at 350,000 volts........it was the big dog of its time but is now more of a mid-range. I think you can find them on e-bay rated for up to 900,000 volts. SHOCKING!!:D

Have a good buzz!

wouldn't 900,000 volts be enough to kill someone? i know it goes by amperage, but some of it atleast has to be based on the volts produced right? i only wonder this cuz i grew up thinking if you stuck a paper clip into a 220 outlet you could be killed, but here are these machines that are meant to shock a person and produce 100,000's of volts...

It is the amperage that kills. With a stun gun the higher the voltage the more of an effect it has. The 50,000V is labled to disorientate the individual when hit for 3 sec while my model lays em' out. The only REAL fear of death is when the person has a pacemaker. Here's an e-bay link........LOL, guess they got 1,000,000V now. It's listed as a police issue but the cops don't use stun guns and DEFINATELY not one of this power. All the cops have the 50,000V because of the pacemaker issue.

Tasers and stun guns both have advantages and disadvantages:

Taser:
Able to shoot from a distance +
After hitting target it will give a jolt on a timed out system so you can get away +
Low power -
When you fire it shoots hundreds of I.D. markers -

Stun Gun:
High power ++
MUST be close range -
NO I.D. markers.....wasn't me....++

The type the cops have has an interchangeagle head that will convert from taser to stun gun.....but it still only packs 50,000V.

me and my friends were playing around with his dad's taser..the hand held one and it just tensed you up if you got stuck w/ it for a few secs...

but one of my friends, pretty dumb, tasered himself for a minute and a half..but he was drinking and was just walking around talking to people and holding it on there...lmao stupid if you ask me

i got tasered in the ass..shit hurts

LMAO.....I saw that on T.V. In order to graduate from this cop training they first have to take a hit from a taser. The trainer didn't compensate for the 15 degree drop from the site and the dude was hit right in the nuts. LOL...the cop that shot it off was laughing so hard he forgot to turn off the gun so it kept on giving extra zaps like in 10 sec. intervals......Hilarious!!!

I've never had any fleeing experience with the police, but I base my preference to be tasered on a different sort of experience with police-grade pepper spray. I was standing with a group of cops in the back of a county courtroom one afternoon (this was when I was employed by the fire department as a paramedic). We were all waiting to testify in a case about a car accident we'd worked. One of the stupidest of the cops, at the request of a bystander to see if he was carrying real pepper spray, pulled his canister off his belt and sprayed a blast of it into a trash can we were all standing nearby. I and one other paramedic took the hardest hit of it because we were closest to the trash can and got some of the backsplash spray droplets, and I've never felt anything more miserable. It was like being on fire.

They ended up adjourning early for that day to clear the courtroom, which filled with fumes and had to be quickly evacuated. The cop got a 21-day reprimand (unpaid time off) and then was fired after he came back and his actions were reviewed by the review board. My partner medic and I had to be taken back to the fire station and be washed off by our colleagues and then given oxygen, which didn't help the burning lungs much.

I have had a unique fear of pepper spray ever since. And of stupid cops, too.

i had in my possesion at one time pepper spray... i sprayed a fake santa clause (this was when i was 10 or younger) and didn't get any mist or anything in my eyes... i don't understand how some times there's backspray and eveyroen gets hit, but other times, no one, other then the intended target gets hit... is it the way they're made or what?

oh yeah, like a dumb ass i tasted that pepper spray once... i really don't think i would want to take that shit in the eyes.. lol..

There are two types there too. There is one model that is a stream for close up and personal and then there is the fogger that covers a 15 foot area. Usually the cops have the fogger for crowd control....real bad for the back spray and not a good thing to use indoors.

Have a good one!

i guess mine would have been the stream kind then lol.... to think if i had gotten ahold of the other kind i probably would be able to honestly sit here and say i pepper sprayed myself LOL..

I'll admit, I'm curious about the whole tasing experience. Some people seem to think it's cruel and unusual punishment but the pain without lasting effects seems to be a fairly effective deterent.

I've been tear gased once and would not be eager to repeat that experience ever again. I think the taser would be preferable...

How stun guns work?
Stun gun uses high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. Stun gun does not rely on pain for results. The energy stored in stun gun is dumped into the attacker muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. Stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance.

When a stun gun touches both probes against the assailantâ??s body for ½ second, it will startle the assailant, giving him some pain, muscular contraction and shock. For 1-2 seconds, it will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. For 3-5 seconds, it will cause loss of balance and muscle control, total mental confusion and disorientation, leaving him dazed. Under no conditions can you suffer a charge back to your own body, even if the assailant touches you while you are using a stun gun on him.
