Has anyone here toked up and then done some really hard exercise?
I usually go to the gym and run 3 miles, then do an hour on light weights, given that I'm not terribly fit at the moment it is very difficult to get motivated to get up and go... plus very boring scene as though I'm there for up to 2 hours.
I was wondering if I toked up before I went, would it make the workout easier, or harder? would it make time pass quicker, or is it a definete no no... I usually get a lazy stoner effect after toking up, sitting on my bed doing nothing but I can be active.
Any advice would be appreciated, I'm getting 1/8th tomorrow and I plan on going to the gym stoned :rasta:

I found that toking up before I went to the gym made it harder.

It made me all freaked out people were staring at me...and made me sweat more...and made me just want to get it over with and go smoke more.

was the exercise part actually harder though? I'm not really too worried about the paranoid thing since the only time it happens to me is around my parents...
I just wan't an easy work-out from weed, I know people who take speed before they go to the gym, they say its amazing but I wouldn't touch that shit if they payed me.

definetly. one of my favorite things do do is get high as shit and then go play some basketball. it would be stupid to say that i'm better when i play high, but its definetly more fun to play stoned because i'm much more relaxed and i just feel at ease on the court.

Yeah I found it to be a lot harder. I felt I was working a lot harder and I felt a lot more hot than normal. In fact I think I had to stop like 5 minutes earlier than normal.
I have tried taking uppers and going to the gym and that was hard too..my heart was beating all fast and I was sweating way more..and felt way too weird.
Just go sober.

anyway, i live in wisconsin, so its cold as hell up here, but during the summer months, i was wearing my tye dye cut offs, ipod, and eyes red as could be, riding my bike for miles just taking in the nature. its fantastic, and my #1 favorite thing to do.

If you are just lifting weights, it's not such a bad thing to try, as long as you keep yourself motivated to reach your goals. Getting stoned, bring along some music, and it'll make lifting a bit more tolerable, especially starting out. If you are going to do some cardio, weed will make it a little harder.

There's no real big difference for me, but it definitely makes it harder to push yourself most of the time when you'd rather be laying on the couch.
I think it's almost a waste of a smoke anyways, since any physical activity brings down your high. Why not wait until afterwords and enjoy it that much more?
If you're worried about it being bored, grab your mp3 player (granted you have one) and just go lift, run, whatever. Smoke afterwords and make it last longer than what it would be if you did before working out. ~

Yeah, I do have an mp3 player, and I always take it with my to the gym. I'm just experimenting with cannabis a bit to know what I can and can't do.. now that winter has hit the UK and it's cold as fuck outside it's so hard to do anything more than rip a few bongs and sit on my bed watching anchorman :thumbsup:

I'd say smoke before for sure. I loooove smoking before my tennis practices. :D
Sometimes I just make amazing shot after amazing shot, like last time I went, other times I just kind of suck, it really varies. And I definitely suck when I start to get burnt out..heh.
It can get really really intense when your heart starts beating so fast, if anyone's smoked any laced bud (with coke) that's sort of what it feels like, except you're actually causing your heart to do that rather than coke.
Short story: Do it, it makes time pass by much faster :D

Heh, well i think it just effects people different ways.. only way to find out how I react to it is to... yup you guessed it :)
I shall get royally fucked and go to the gym, if its too much for me on the running machine I'll just head over to the light weights because there really not that difficult, but running gets me absolutly knackered :stoned:

I wrestled in highschool. I toked up once before practise(SP?)
That 2pm -5 30pm was the worst smoking experience of my life. Wrestling is not an easy sport, well not at my school. One of our coaches was a wrestler in the marines or something and placed in Nationals..ugh.

I dont know whatsup with you guys but as a 21 year old toker whos been smokin pot daily for almost a decade, I LOVE working out when I'm blasted...
Granted the high only lasts about an hour but I concentrate so much harder on tearing apart my muscles by lifting that extra rep or two. My motivation at the gym is easily doubled if not tripled when I'm faded... you just have to block everyone else out and realise they ARE NOT STARING AT YOU, YOU ARE PARANOID CUZ YOUR HIGH!
I run a SLOW mile on the treadmill before the workout as my warm up... about 10-11 minutes, any faster or farther and i completely lose my high. My workout consists of a 4 day split of weight training.
Doing cardio while high is useless... you fatigue faster and your sober in 20 minutes
The trick is Mr Pink, to get high on the WAY to the gym... not at your house watching t.v.
Have you ever tried any protein shakes or creatine/musclebuilding products? They really do work - just stay away from steroids... Ive been drinking GNC protein shakes for over a year and I swear by them. NoXplode is a great creatine with no loading/unloading phases and doesnt cause the bloating of traditional creatines
For your first time at the gym start on cable machines in case you lose your balance because ur high... its much safer
BTW I would NEVER suggest you do this if you do not smoke pot DAILY! THIS SHIT IS DANGEROUS
Do not get me wrong Mr. Pink, you are WAAAYYYYY better off going to the gym sober. And if you wanted to get serious you'd quit smoking all the way but not even I can refuse Mary Jane... Although there are no clinical studies on the effects of marijuana on the body during excercise, I'm pretty sure it does have catabolic properties... That basically means its bad for muscle growth.

I really don't want to build muscle mass, only loose weight, get fairly fit and tone up so I doubt the properties of cannabis will stop be doing that. I really can't wait to get down the gym tomorrow. I run 3 miles and 10 minute miles at that so it's very slow then an hours worth of light weights I'll post back to tell you how my experience was :rasta:

Cool Cool I hope to hear how it went... But if you do it PLEASE do the running AFTER your weight training
It wont do you any good to run while high man, seriously... your just gonna come off of it and be burnt by the time your ready to workout
run a mile first, then workout, then run another 2 miles but seriously i wouldnt run high
try it 2 or 3 times and do your routine differently each day... you'll notice what works best for you

I'll run as far as I can go untill I feel uncomfortable then do some weights... after that I'll re-run any distance I missed, but hopefully it will be a good feeling, I'm taking lots of water with me and having an energy bar before I start so I won't be too burned.

ive toked up before aerobics and the music the play is freaking euphoric, it was really fun, but i had some trouble remembering the steps, but it was a lot funner

I get stoned and work out sometimes, its a really weird feeling when your running.. I feel like I run for hours and hours but really its only been like 45 minutes. Its not that it makes me tired, its just I feel like its been a really long time, but an interesting time.

I work out usually 5 days a week in the afternoons after getting off an 8 hour shit. A hard hour and half long lifting session and then straight across town to the place I and some guys train mixed martial arts at.
I smoke prior to it all, before work, the gym, fighting ect. So I can workout great but I do everything else with a slight buzz so it figures I would be alright with everything else.
If you haven't tried it, try it and go from there. If you can do it and "use" it the way I do- as a tool, along with my headphones to maintain concentration, focus, and to kind of zone out then keep doing it.

I don't agree. I feel less stoned if I sit around... it's better if I am doing something active and then something inactive, every few minutes. I think lifting would be just right if it weren't so repetitive...but I've never been to the gym stoned so I don't know for sure.

Well it's proven that physical activity, which increases your heart rate, causes the high to decrease at a faster rate than if you just sat around. Your heart is already beating faster if you did smoke, and add in some running, and you'll find the high escape rather quickly.
Not to say that you don't feel less stoned just sitting around, but it's just a feeling, while the facts are there. Everyone's different though. ~

Thats how I feel when I go to gigs or clubbing... u don't need to remember any steps!

I have never gone stoned, but I bet if I did I wouldnt have a very good workout. I wouldnt be motivated to stay there and I wouldn't work as hard. I smoke as soon as I get back from the gym though

i toke befroe excersizing and it helps in every way. makes me more determined, and it makes it feel way more worth it

I used to go to the gym once a week, and always toke before going. It didn't really make the excersice harder, but I found it funny how my heartrate was going through the roof when I was just getting started:p

he's right... when you first start workin out your heartrate goes CRAZY, kinda like you just smoked 3 or 4 cigarettes then ran. the feeling goes away once you're warmed up.
i've realized after years and years of training that remembering to BREATHE CORRECTLY and keep your heart stabilized during the beginning of the warmup is critical. you tend to forget when your high. don't throw a wrench into your endurance in the first stages!

For me it sucks. Whenever we skip lunch to go smoke when i get back i have weight training. Try to power clean what a decent amount of weight would be for you stoned. Im telling you man it is impossible.

I dont like it. Unless you jsut smoke a little bit I wouldnt recommend doing it at all. It makes it a lot harder for me.

i never head to the gym high, but alot of times i'll find myself working out on some of the equipment i have at home high. I tend to get distracted though when i'm high, so it wont actually be a full workout... fuck i'm high and forgot what i was about to type ;) lol
