... my first grow, first post.. but been here for a while.

I live far away from any seed source and I find bying seeds on mail order expensive and risky so I had a desperat need to take care of at least one of my males. Of 10 white widow seeds, 5 turned out to be males and I wanted to take care of at least one male.
Well, this is what I did :
I went to the hardwarestore and bought a large clear plastic bag. (1$)
Near the top of the bag I punched a hole and installed a tap from a vinebox with double side tape about 20 cm (8") from the
I sealed hard several turns around the stem and taped the bag opening with double side tape.
I placed the bag over the plant, sealed the it and put ut back in the growroom.
But first I blew it up with my bad CO2 breath :D
I took it out of the house every second day and drained it for water, squized out the air inside and filled it up with my low budget CO2.
The plant was put in the bag when the first sign of male pollen flowers was visible and the plant seem to like the atmosphere (Wery moist) The picture of one the tops was taken after 6 days.

Can anybody tell me :
Do the plant relase pollen at this stage ?
If I did a mistake, when will I see seeds on the whole crop instead of the buds I want to put the pollen on ?

You gotta wait for those flowers to open to get the pollen. Looks like they should be any day now though. I like that bag though, thats ingenious. And it appears to work pretty well. Keep us posted man.

Oh yeah, you can store pollen in a freezer for a long time if you collect it. Then you can put some in a bag, put that bag over the selected bud, and shake the bag to pollinate that selected bud. Make sure you turn off your fans in your room first to prevent spreading if the pollen escapes.

lol my friend from work was just talking about doing that tonight. hes thinkin about taking a big bread bag, i work at a deli, and putting it over his plant to reduce the smell. i advised him not to, does anyone know if this could hurt the plant?

Thanks Splifted, I will try the "bag shaker". It sounds like a good solution.

... and about putting the plant in a bag : for a short period of time maybe but not in a long time. The air in a bag will be wery moist (my plant produced 1,5 dl water pr day) and the smell is just a part of a lot of shit the plant want to get rid off thru the blades. You may also have problem with fungus and other deceases.

Then again U can add CO2 over short periods:thumbsup:

I used plastic bag, as suggested, over 2 buds.
I probably dont have to buy seeds for a loooong time :)

OMG. That is freaking brilliant. Now I am so MAD. I had a male that was the most beautiful plant ever and I really wanted to save it, but do not have a seperate area, so I chopped the poor thing down 2 days ago. Well next time, I am going to try this method. Soooo sad:(
