High temps will do that, so will using super thrive in flower.

ventillation is even more important then the amount of light you have. if you just recycle air in your grow room, you will use up all the CO2 which is a large contributer to bud mass. This is why people who use additional CO2 can get 40% increases in mass. But most importantly, you need fresh air thats constantly cycling in and moving around the grow room (specifically around the leaves and branches) or it needs to be supplemented with CO2, A/C, etc.
having your lights to far from the plant will also cause whispy and light buds, but nutrients, stress, and specific strain can all cause an effect on the density. the #1 rule that every very experienced grower has taught me is ventillation ventillation ventillation.

How high of temps, bluebear? Is 83 pushing it?

83 isn't that bad but if you can stay in the low to mid 70's you would increase weight and quality tenfold

Goddamnit. Oh well, hopefully that will all change with the new fan, if my friend ever gets off his lazy ass and runs to the store. Fuckin hydrofarm 465 cfm squirrel cage fans on sale for SIXTY FIVE DOLLARS and he still won't drive. dick.

that hydrofarm fan is good but if you have a CF its a little tricky, besides with 2 600wtt lights u must be in the 100's. And besides in reality. from 85-75 your not going to get an increase in yeild or at 70, the only time your gonna loose yeild is above 90, your plants arent going to give you less becuase of 5 degrees. Besides think about where plants grow during the summer, its about 100 degress out all summer here. i dunno but in the natural habitat it grows at about 80. from 85-75 i would say ur not going to see a difference. its all about co2 and nutes and fresh air and good humidity.

you buds will be alot airy (lighter) if flower temps are at 85 rather than 75! ten dgrees will definetely make a huge difference. i know this from personal experience. you cannot compare indoor and outdoor growing. yes, outsude in the summer it does get to 100 degrees but the light source is like a million miles away not 12-48 inches! i had a ww plant that sucked when flowered over 80. my yeild was like 8-10 oz from my 400hps scrog. when i put in the cooltube (same 400hps) and the temps went down to the lower 70's my buds got 10 times denser and i was yeilding 12-14 oz continuously.

i can vouch for that my summer buds were very airy

Actually that was more likely a result of being able to get the light closer to the plants and therefore increasing the lumen intensity. Think careful about that.

since i grow scrog style, the light is a fixed distance from the screen so it was no closer when i switched to the cooltube.
c02 changes the whole equation, with co2 you can runn a good deal hotter without problems.
all growspaces are different so what works for 1 might not work for another. that being said, my personal experiences have shown me that if i can keep the temps in the lower 70's rather than 80's my plants grow much much better. doesn't anyone else notice that winter harvests always seem to be much better than summer harvests?
