Morning,
I've been doing some thinking.. what is the actual definition of a strain?
I've heard people say anyone can create there own strain just by breeding two different plants..? See this too me doesn't sound right. Haven't you just got like a cross.
I'll use dogs as an example.
If two different breeds of dogs do the wild thing and have puppys they're not a new breed of dog, just mongrels. You need to breed six (I think) generations of these mongrels to have a pure new breed.
Does anyone get what I'm on about? Wanna elaborate?

The only thing people are trying to say is two strains that has not been crossed before gets crossed the seed will produce a little bit of both parents or maybe something totally different and believe it to be a new type of weed or a new strain w/e you wanna say. Dog's are animals, plants are way different than animals so I really think that's a bad comparison when it comes to Cannabis.

say whaaat ? .. :D ... the "several-generation" description indicates what is called a "stable strain" , a hybrid, that after several generations, exhibits offspring that are all very similar in size and characteristics ... the plant you have in your left hand is a strain, the 'different' plant in your right hand is also a strain ... after crossing them, you will have a hybrid ... once it goes thru several generations, and stabilizes itself, you have a 'new strain' ... then, you can give it a silly name, to boost prices :D ... :smokin:

im ordering c99x blueberry hehe, um i would say a strain is a scientific classification, at some point down the line from a species. There are so many though, in all seriousness anything you do to alter a strain cross bread... will create a new strain, but how you go about it is how it becomes a relitavly popular strain, if i cross something thats been done before and has a name like white rhino, then i am just takeing the long way to making white rhino. crossing hybrids works, it really doesnt matter, a new strain comes from something never crossed before. its easy to make your own strain, but to have it noticed by ppl may be hard. i would take alot of necessary precautions to do this. it also could take a while to perfect your strain, thats why u would want to be carefull and save seeds keep mothers of different generations. its a process if your going to do it right.
