I am Catholic. But we are Jewdeo Christians, cause Jesus was a Jew.

Jewdism could exist without christianity
but
Christianity could not exist with out jewdism.

I stand in support of all Jews around the world, and will fight for them as they were my own.

No, I'm not a Jew. Come from a long line of Protestant Christians. (And I myself am basically agnostic.)

I happen to have a special affection for Jews, however. So many have contributed so much to modern society in the areas of medicine, science and art. And they've done that despite the fact they've faced tremendous hardships and prejudice along the way. I find that tremendously impressive.

I really don't think people HATE Jews...its just that they can be an easy punch-line for jokes a lot of the time.

I don't hate Jews, but I will often joke about them, claiming I am Jewish because I pick up quarters.

I did my humanities oral report on Jews. The strong sense of identity, the intellectual and artistic/comedic contributions they've made, the absurd reasons people have for anti-semitism. I heard one rabbi say that the jews were meant to be dispersed so that they might bless and prosper society around them. That's what ive personally noticed about Jews. this thread kicks ass

My woman's Jewish. I'm German-Irish if you're talking about ethnicity, and if you're talking about religion, then I'm not anything. Got nothing against Jews here (obviously). In fact, not to over-generalize too much, but I've always found Jews to be smarter than average, and generally pretty friendly. Took me a while in junior high to figure out why some of the bullies picked on the kid with the yarmulka, since I just thought it was a little hat. And even when someone explained that he was Jewish, I still didn't understand why that made him a target. Guess I still don't understand that; he was a really nice guy.

Could somebody please explain to me why so many people in the world hate Jews? I mean the only reason I've ever heard is that the "jews" killed Jesus. And that's just stupid because you're persecuting the descendents of jews, and jews who have relation to those who killed Jesus only through religious affiliation, all for the actions of a few. In which case you might as well blame all of christianity for the actions of George Bush. Just imagine that argument; "did you hear, the christians invaded Iraq. We'll never let then live it down!"

jamstigator
11-22-2006, 09:15 PM
Racism, jealousy, fear, those are probably the main reasons why people hate Jews. The jealousy arises from the fact that many Jews are very successful, and Jewish parents tend to heavily stress education so Jews are often intelligent and educated (which probably helps with the success too). For the yarmulka-wearing and orthodox Jews, the clothing makes them different, and people tend to fear what's different from themselves. The racism, well, that comes about just because some folks are racist assholes.

Honestly, I've never really understood the persecution of Jews myself. Yeah, they have some different customs or whatever, but so what, I don't see why that's a big deal to others. It's not like Jews are out there trying to force their customs on anyone else, or convert people to Judaism.

ive also learned that jews tend to look out solely for themselves for the most part...maybe this has to do with why a lot of people dont like them. personally i have jewish friends, and theyre fuckin hilarious. as for "the christians invading Iraq" statement. if you havent realized it yet, that is exactly what it is. no one in the media will admit to it, but it is a holy war. radical muslims wanting to kill everyone except muslims? (specifically christians). christians wanting to surpress the radical muslim faith? sounds like a religious war to me. and i guess i shouldnt being saying "radical muslims" being that it is very evident there are shit tons of them, therefore its moreso common muslim beliefs rather than radical ones. ok enough rambling( sorry i just really hate the society that has been created, i mean, does anyone ever think that no one is right? and God acknowledges the fact that youre praying to him, no matter what faith? we all share the same God, whether you like it or not, its true)

Sorry man, but you've totally missed my point. I know full well it's largely a holy war, but the point I was making is that you can't just say "the christians invaded Iraq" anymore than "The Jews killed Jesus". In either case you are pinning personal responsibility on the many, whether or not they are from the same time of the events, for the actions of a few. To put it another way, it was 2 students that shot up columbine; but you can't just say "I hate students because they shot up a school", because it was only the actions of a few that are being pinned on the many. It's that same mentality (not yours, the described one here) that drive people to put a nice simple face on things and say "muslims attacked america", rather than accepting that it's only a small percentage of muslims that do so and the situation can't be made so simple just by linking different people to one action by some common affiliation.

i beg to differ with you social injustice....you should do some more reading..jews are very involved in causes other than jewish related things..did you know jews were the first ones to march with the afro americans during the civil rights era? we also have something called the interfaith league in our synagogues through each town, which amongst other things, helps other religions and their causes..i highly resent the remark no matter how you meant it..i mean, no offense and all, but that was really an ignorant statement..maybe you could give google a spin or something..i wasnt aware people didnt like jews, especially since we "look out for each other"..i always thought that it was called intolerance and closed mindedness...thank you for pointing this out to me..

the iraq war? a holy war? isnt that a war the americans are fighting for bush so he can get his oil pipeline? it isnt about religion..it is about politics and the good ol boys....the US just wants to change everyone to be like them, even though these people have lived this way their whole lives..this is just my opinion.. oh yeah....i forgot.....to answer some things that were mentioned..

1. you are only jewish if your mother is jewish..it is fathers name mothers blood, by jewish law..and not only that, but you have to convert if your mom isnt jewish and are the lowest on the caste scale as there are 3 levels of jews and your level distinguishes your honours and priviledges within the synagogue..

2. why do people think you have to look a certain way to be a jew? i have seen lots of christians with big noses and dark curly hair..i have seen blonde hair and blue eyed jews..i think people confuse this with sabra's, or israeli's, who have these features, which are regional really..

That's an easy one...as Jamstigator said...Racism. But, --and this is probably going to piss a lot of Jewish people off, but oh well..--racism on both sides of the battle. Take it back to biblical times and think about the situation. The Zionist belief was that they were 'God's Chosen People' and if you weren't a Jew, you were a dog. (remember from Sunday School Jesus asking the sumarian woman why he should heal a dog?)

That attitude tends to piss your neighbors off. Not that their neighbors were any less guilty of course. But when you're a little sect surrounded by other races being referred to as dogs and heathens, it's not exactly the most diplomatic attitude to have for peaceful coexistence.

Hell, up until recently all races were racists. (and I'm still worried about our ability to overcome it). It's what binds groups together as groups, but it's what leads to clashes. The 'Us and Them' thing always leads to conflict and hatred...whether it's racial, economic, religious, social or political.

Generally Jews keep to themselves and their familys. They have over the years generated their own customs to the point where they alienate non-jews, that's why people generally hate them. Nobody needs an excuse like they killed Jesus because nobody except the religious sect really gives a shit. It comes down to interpersonal connections and being able to relate to people that you share very little in common with. Its very hard to relate to Jewish people because they treat everyone else with such disregard. Obviously there are exceptions but generally history speaks true about that I've stated about. You can put it down to jelousy or just plain hatred or whatever but in my opinion that's just blissful ignorance.

I was born in NYC to a Jewish dad and an Italian Catholic mom. So I'm not a Jew since jewish blood flows maternal, not paternal. Although, my family would often go to other Jewish family friend's houses for holidays i.e. Yom Kippur, Roshoshana (please forgive me if I misspelled them). And my dad made great knishes, blintzes, and kasha vinushka.

Also, one of my best friends, Adam, is a Jew. Adam has a big picture of Sandy Koufax (Jewish pitcher) in his house. And even though Adam's a yankees fan (I HATE the fagyankees) Adam likes my beloved Mets just a little now because they got Shawn Green (Jewish outfielder). Bad wording on my part, I didn't mean fagyankees as in homosexual baseball players playing for the most hated team ever! I meant it more like, fagyankees, as in I hate the yankees with all my existence; and something to do with fag being a cigarette. hmmmmm, not too good an excuse, huh? My bad, I was high and forgot my manners. I do apologize. I didn't mean nothing by it. On the flip side, (and I don't mean anything homo there either about "flip" or "flop") I got nothing against Oakland A's GM Billy Bean.

PS: The Yankees do suck thou don't they? :) Only cause they have all the money in the world and others don't so can't just purchase good players like the yankees can. Other teams have to have commitment and skill.

Pork. Orthodox Jews wont eat certain food, because it's unclean. Pork is dirty meat, as it's from a dirty animal, and it has a Cloven Hoof. Also, it goes off very quickly and can give you a jippy stomach.

I would guess that even if the bacon was removed, there would be cross-contamination and the customer wants to be 100% certain that he is not ingesting any pork.

I can't eat gluten (a protein found in wheat, rye barley and their derivatives), due to Celiac disease, and if I order a salad with croutons I have to send it back. Just picking the pieces off is not enough because crumbs may be left in the salad. The same is true of a hamburger - if I order a hamburger or hot dog without a bun, and they send it on one anyway, I cannot just remove the burger - they have to start from scratch. Needless to say, I don't eat out much - and don't want to until they come up with a pill to prevent consequences from accidental, or deliberate, exposure.

Bong30, it's Judaism, not Jewdism, for Christ's sake.

Judaism is technically only passed down through the mother, so I'm not Jewish in the literal sense of the word, but my dad's family is Jewish, and so I've been raised with the traditions of unorthodox Judaism.

It's nice to hear people who are offended by all the anti-Semitism in our world today.

You can put it down to jelousy or just plain hatred or whatever but in my opinion that's just blissful ignorance.

that is just plane racist, Jews are just the same as u are. number 1 we deffinitely dont alienate non-jews, alienate is a very general word, either u mean we think we are better or u actually believe in like blood libels and that stuff. if u believe in blood libels you are just a dumass. and if u think we think we are better thats also bullshit, maybe ur just not friends with a lot of jews because u have different values. for example most Jews tend to be very tolerent of other races, while u are a fuking racist pig. and u say history proves that Jews think theyre superior, please explain.

and then some1 said something about all Jews being rich, i wish this were true. I and a lot of my Jewish friends are poor. this is just another 1 of those stereotypes.

if any1 cares to ask me a question about Judaism please feel free

To be honest, i dont really like fighting. But one someone says something about my family, i see red i dont care what the consequences are. I was brought up to be loyal to my family, and if i have to do something like that, i have to do it.

Some people dont understand it, but it's not really hard tyo understand.

If someone says something about me i'll leave it, maybe call them a cunt. But as soon s my family are involved ill keep punching untill i know they wont punch back.
But seriously, im not normally violent.

I'm not jewish, but I have a jewish tattoo (tree of life), and on that "What Religion are You" quiz or whatever they rated me 100% reform judiasm. That and everyone thinks I look jewish. 'course around here, so long as your white most people think you look the same as other white people. Guess that's just different ethnicities.

That's ridiculous. Simple words can provoke you into physical altercation. In my culture that is considered weakness.

01-18-2007, 04:41 AM
That depends. In terms of personal faith, no. In terms of heritage, only kind of, because I inherited Judaism through my father, not mother. In terms of whether I'd call myself a Jew because of cultural upbringing, values, Israel, etc., no.

Jews do have a history with the ole hemp plant. I think one of the books in the Torah mentions cannabis.

I dont know how you were brought up, but i was bought up to be loyal to my family. If someone says something racist to me, that insults my whole family, im not going to sit there and let it happen. Im going to stop it. When someone insults me, i wont get violent, just pissed off. But as soon as someone insults my faith and my intire family, you expect me to just sit there and say "stop"

Anyone who allows it to happen is weak, someone who puts a stop to it is right.

Give me a break. That is ridiculous. There is a saying in Vietnamese that says "Don't bite back the dog that bites you." You need to learn that. You're just making yourself the dog by attacking someone who throws an insult at you. Learn from great leaders like Martin Luther King Jr... racism is not an excuse for violence.

My family brought me up to have a strong mind first and foremost.

oh yeah....i forgot.....to answer some things that were mentioned..

1. you are only jewish if your mother is jewish..it is fathers name mothers blood, by jewish law..and not only that, but you have to convert if your mom isnt jewish and are the lowest on the caste scale as there are 3 levels of jews and your level distinguishes your honours and priviledges within the synagogue..

2. why do people think you have to look a certain way to be a jew? i have seen lots of christians with big noses and dark curly hair..i have seen blonde hair and blue eyed jews..i think people confuse this with sabra's, or israeli's, who have these features, which are regional really..

ok..i think i am done now... :D

Adam and I watch just about every NY Islanders game and smoke bowls every time the Islanders score.:stoned: It was great they beat the hated rangers last night with 7 goals!!!!

And just like all of my Jewish friends, I love Chinese food!:D

Excellent post and you are right on about the Chinese food. Every Sunday was a night out on ChinaTown and we loved it!

Fr33kman (still queer, still here, now where's my beer?:smokin:)

PS: The Yankees do suck thou don't they? :) Only cause they have all the money in the world and others don't so can't just purchase good players like the yankees can. Other teams have to have commitment and skill.

Hell yeah I'm a Jew (wait a second... we don't believe in hell... oh well)!

So far in my life, I've been really fortunate to have gone to very accepting schools and have never been more than mildly teased for being Jewish (in fact, the school that I go to at present is upwards of 40% Jewish when you include people like mowie wowie). I have to say, I did not expect there to be so many Jews on this forum; it really blows my mind.

Oh, and by the way, I don't know if this has been said already, but Goldstein and Rosenberg from Harold and Kumar are my heroes... At least as far as pot-smoking Jewish guys go...

i was born jewish, went to hebrew school, was bar mitzvah'd. so i guess i'm jewish.

i never really bought it, and stopped going to temple after my bar mitzvah when i was 13. now i'm 21, since then i've became an agnostic athiest, switching back and forth, until i discovered eastern philosophy :]

jewish people are great, i get along with them better than gentiles because jews tend to be more open minded and have a better sense of humor. also, i've rarely met a jew who actually believed in the nonsense thats taught in the bible. but there are exceptions of course.
