Sharpestoner is right, it is impossible to tell what kind it actually is. There are 2 main types of cannabis though, Indica and Sativa, and the rare Ruderalis, but since cannabis has revolutionized so much since the past 25-30 years, there are literally thousands upon thousands of different strains of cannabis. People can cross 2 strains in their very own home as it is very easy to do, creating a new strain.

Most strains these days are crossed with sativa/indica. It is rare to find a 100% indica plant, and even rarer to find a 100% sativa plant, as in rare, I mean it's not your common bag of pot that you will find it.

The best you can do in your case is to feel the effects of it. Indica dominant strains tend to give you a couchlock, body stone, narcotic feeling, while sativa dom. strains tend to give you a heady, energetic, up high. That's all you can do, even that will not tell if it's a TW cross or not.

Lol how can you tell what strain a bud is by just looking at it? You cant...just know that it's either trainwreck or it's not. If it gets you fuckin' blew then what the hell are you worrying for? The only time I'd be suspicious about a strains name is if some one is using that to try to boost the price, other than that what ever...as long as I get high in the zone I'm cool.

For instance..you could have the exact same strain except it may be a slightly difference genotype that could make the plant have slightly thinner or thicker leaves

lol its phenotype lol

Your right. You are a noob, and i mean that in a good way, not to be offensive.

There are so many strains in this world, you'll NEVER be able to tell what one it is unless its been grown from a seed bought from a seedbank.

And just because you've seen TR before, doesnt mean every plant of TR will have the same looking buds.

All you can judge is if its a sativa or indica, or a cross. That's it.

And just because you've seen TR before, doesnt mean every plant of TR will have the same looking buds. How true that is. If anyone has ever looked through (or owns) one of the Cannabible books, he has a section in there where he shows the same strain grown about by about 10 different growers, both indoor and outdoor, and they all look completely different.

If anything, smell and taste would be better indicators, kind of like wine or a cigar, but that requires some pretty good knowledge about the strain itself and having already smoked it before, knowing what it is.

Very true, and as you said, you'd have to be a cannabis connisuer Judge to do that. I mean, i smoke a hell of alot, and i still couldnt do that i dont think. Maybe with certain strains, but then certain strains are obvious.

Looks a little more indoor for me, how dense is it. Outdoor buds are normally not dense.
