My lights were on 18 hours and got turned off at 9:30 this morning.
If in 18/6 they would have gone out at 10:30 this morning. I was going to leave them in the dark until 9:30 tonight, then start 12/12. Is it better to give them 24-36 hours of dark to trigger budding? I have tons of preflowers so I know they are ready. I could turn them on tmw night at 9:30 that would be 36 hours of dark. Then they would be on 12/12 lights on 9:30pm - 9:30 am , that would work for me.
So how do you do your timing before budding?

como estas amigo, i never heard that and i would be worried about going from more darkness to less darkness, it might give the plant mixed signals dont you think?

Unless you NEED to give them extra darkness, I wouldn't. It wouldn't likely hurt them or anything, but why waste a day? Give them as long as you need to to get them on the 12/12 schedule that you want, but I don't think it does anything beneficial to give them more than you need to.
At the end of *flowering*, there's a theory that 36-72 hours of darkness makes the THC potency increase with some strains. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but I do it anyway just in case it's even marginally true, and it's never done any harm. But I've never given a big dose of darkness between veg and flowering, and everything's turned out fine, so I don't see any reason to even try extra darkness then.

I have tried both ways and have not noticed any difference, beside the fact that you lose a day or two.
