He may not be inhaling right. Watch him next time to see if he inhales. He could just be filling his mouth with smoke, then blowing it out without inhaling. That's how I used to smoke until someone slapped me and showed me how to do it right. :p

Get him to take bigger hoots too. Fill those lungs like they should be.

Maybe he doesn't want to get high or is afraid to. I mean, he's taking small ass hoots, so it seems to me like he doesn't really want to smoke.

If I do a lot of blow, pot really only makes my head feel fuzzy for the day after and if I do blow and smoke pot together it feels like gravity and its like I'm not very high off of either.

So, yeah. Its possible.

Crappy weed doesn't really get me off, either, unless I haven't smoked for a few days, it just makes my head and eyes feel fuzzy. If I haven't smoked for a few days, it can get me off a little, and I have to smoke a lot of it for that, even.

So, yeah, its possible, twice

I didn't get stoned until probably like the 15th time I smoked pot.

Let me just say though,in retrospect, I think I WAS stoned and I just didn't realize it.

The one day I just got SO fucking stoned I couldn't even talk. I really don't know what happend...
...because before I would take BONG rip after BONG RIP and still not get stoned. In fact it got to the point where I was like...whatever I don't care I'm not even going to try to get stoned anymore.

Then I got stoned with my 2 girl friends for the first time..and damn was I high.
After that I always got high.

So, no, I don't think that it is possible to not get high. However, I do think it's possible to not realize you are high. I mean you don't really know what to expect right? Maybe I, and your friend, just expected something totally different...and couldn't embrace the fact that how we felt WAS in fact being stoned.

Its either bad weed or hes not inhaling it right. There is no logical reason why it should take 10 times for it to work unless its one of those two.

It happens in some people, and I'm pretty well convinced it's because it takes longer to "activate" the cannabinoid receptors in some people's brains than in others. It took me almost that long to get high when I first tried grass in college, and I knew perfectly well how to inhale. Eventually, with persistence and repeated exposure, it worked.

If enough THC reaches the lungs, It'll produce a euphoric high to the brain that no human could resist.

Sounds like a high Tolerance problem.

Two words.

GRAVITY BONG.

The only people who I've ever heard say they got high their first time said they took gravity hits. It makes sure you get a fat hit, and makes sure you inhale. If he still don't get high after 3 gravs...hes not gonna get high. Just make him pull them for himself until he feels done.

I'm convinced that is a fool-proof method to getting new smokers high. You'll be able to tell when hes havin' trouble packing the bowl and pulling it.

I'm gonna hate it if you're gonna make me cite my sources on this one, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the CNS. Everything that enters your brain has to do so through the spinal cord. Now, the thickness of the axons of the neurons in the CNS (ouch) vary from person to person, and also play a role in how well the stimulus is received. The cannabinoid receptors are rarely used except in the agonizing/antagonizing by the cannabinoids, and because of this, sometimes the message can be lost. It's also thought that certain cannabinoid receptors for lesser cannabinoids, of which make up the indica high, are not as strong until the user has experienced a "high". That had to do with how the cannabinoid receptors are located in the hypothalamus, but that thought also used a lot of big words that I can't remember.

I wrote that in a psychology paper a while back. I got an A on it, but for all I know I could have been BSing back then, too.

yeah i have noticed that the people who "cant" get high are the ones that you usually have to persuade them to even smoke in the first place. if they dont really want to smoke they wont get high because they will take baby hits and wont inhale. i have learned my lesson with people like that and i dont offer people weed anymore. when you see me puffin on a blunt all you have to do is ask and you'll get a shotgun. but i'm not gonna offer you weed because if you didn't ask you obviously dont want to get high.
