offroad eh? Never took my car offroad (it bottoms out just from driving around town as it is :D ) never will, but taking my dirtbike out on wooded trails while blazed out is amazing! The trees just blur by as you float down what feels like a loooong tunnel. I dunno, I dig it anyway!

It's not like driving drunk or anything. If you can do it well, why not do it?

i think because you 'think' you can do it well, but may actually not be able to. most people who i have talked to say than can/could drive drunk fine, but that does not mean that your reaction time and what not is actually ok. but whatever, i will drive high if it has been at least an hour or more after smoking.

If you drive stoned, and you drive in low-traffic zones, then you can do it fine. Driving drunk is different than driving high.

any of you saying driving while stoned and while drunk are just wrong... there is no diffrence, you may think you drive better, and you even may be more cautious, but like it hasn't been pointed out enough, your reaction time is impaired.

you wanna drive stoned? fine do it, i'm sure i wouldn't be able to convince you otherwise anyways, just do us all a favor and don't bitch when you get 15 years for involuntary manslaughter when you slam into someone's car and kill them... won't even matter if you had the right away either, they're just going to see you were driving while intoxicated, on an illegal drug nonetheless and throw you in a cell, open and shut case and i can garuntee that.

i'd have to agree with slipknot on this one

slipknotpsycho
11-14-2006, 07:23 AM
um... maybe most of you are just weird or something... cuz i have just as much trouble doing everyday tasks when i'm drunk or when i'm stoned, it doesn't matter how i'm intoxicated, point is i'm intoxicated... and yes you can compare the two, you are impared it's as simple as that... i notice you atleast do not endorse high-driving, but that's no reason to state somethign such as you did... of course you want to defend the plant, and make it seem as little like every other 'drug' that you can, it's only natural since we do have everything against us, atleast as far as the law goes... but i'm sorry, driving high and driving drunk is the same, they may not do the exact same thing to you, but you are just as impaired, period.

oh and almost everyone is 'special' and can drive better when intoxicated, but if you could soberly watch yourself drive, i KNOW everyone of you would feel diffrently... my aunt is serving a 15 year prison sentence for just this, driving while intoxicated, thinking she's ok to drive, bam hits a car and kills the entire family, including father mother and atleast 2 kids... you think i don't speak from experience, i didn't just pull 15 years out of my ass... oh and also, that 15 years, is 15 years til you are up for parole...

but yeah, be special, more than likely you won't suffer the consequences, very rarely does anyone... but i bet if you do, all you're going to be doing is either saying it's bullshit and not accepting your 'punishment' like a man, or you're just going to be thinking for the next 15 years what a dumbass you were that night and how badly you've fucked over your life... like i said, it doesn't matter ifyou had the right away or not, let you drive high or drunk, get in a wreck wtih someone else, and they die... see exactly where they put you..

an old saying i think really fits here is better safe than sorry... i dunno about you, but i'd rather not risk spending the next 15 in a cell just becuase i 'had to go somewhere'

When I get my motorbike I really doubt i'll drive it high. Maybe once, around the block or something :P But i'd feel a lot safer driving high in a car.

There are too many variables to this question. A noob smoker blazed out of his brain trying to drive would probably be just as bad as a drunk driver. If you’ve been smoking for years, and overall have a tolerance built up as well as just being all and all more familiar with how marijuana affects you, I believe the risks can be substantially mitigated.

Reaction time is important but it’s not the only piece of the puzzle. Each person still has their own driving style which can range from aggressive with little respect for the rules of the road to a defensive driver that pays attention to his surroundings and respects traffic law. For example, a minor reaction time increase could have drastically different implications for a driver who likes to tailgate vs. one that leaves a reasonable multi-second gap.

For me, driving sober is extremely stressful and I freak out on a lot of stuff like entering a crowded freeway, going over tall bridges, driving near one of those cement barriers, etc. When I smoke and drive I spend less time stressed out about random shit and more time focused on the road.

when i drive stoned i pay alot more attention to my surroundings ya granit sometimes it feels im a tad slower but its still a great feeling and I can do it just as well sober

I sometimes drive better for sure. my reaction time actually improves... this is true for a lot of my friends because they play a lot of video games better when high.

but yeah driving around baked with some chill music is good times in my book.

I drive stoned a lot man. I've got a lot of practice under my belt with this task. Hell, I can drive stoned off my ass with a pipe and lighter in my hands and steer with one of my knees. I know someone out there is saying, "that fucking guy is a retard." But really, I'm just as good at driving sober as I and stoned. I think it just takes practice, the first time I was really stoned and I tried driving I couldn't get ten feet from the side of a street to the corner of another. But just look at me know:D

slipknotpsycho
11-15-2006, 08:06 AM
actually, you know what... i hope everyone of you gets busted, and gets a sentence so unfair it's not even believable... don't listen to me, drive stoned all you want.... i'm sure you won't care when/if you kill someone's mother or father...

i don't care how many times you say it, you may think you're special and drive better, but you don't simple as that.... just because YOU think you're driving better doesn't mean you are... as for the person saying their mother said you drove better, if she did know you were stoned when you were driving, she shoulda slapped the shit out of you before even letting you stick the keys in the ignition, if she didn't know, she was probably just seeing how damn paranoid you were...

you may be more CAUTIOUS, but that doesn't mean you're driving better, and what about when you get used to it and 'it's no big deal anymore'? and driving with your knees? jesus christ... if you're going to smoke in a car while driving, either have everything ready, or stop the damned car to get shit ready when it needs to be... i garu-fucking-tee you won't be able to jerk that wheel should some kid jump out infront of you while you're hands are busy rolling that joint, or sparking up that bowl.... unless you're going 20 mph or less.... and that's hoping he's ATLEAST a car lenght ahead of you...

there is no excuse for being wreckless, absolutely none, nil, nothing... there is NO WAY to justify it... go ahead and bring on the flames, cuz i know all ofyou are just dying to after reading what i have to say, but atleast i have the common sense to not get in a car while i'm high thinking i'm god-all-mighty and am diffrent then every other intoxicated driver on the road...

for anyone else that has kids out there, i sure hope you don't agree with this type of behaviour... i'd rather not have some drunk or high person out there, in control of over a ton of steel when my kid could be the indirect target of this disaster waiting to happen... and don't bother giving me 'i should watch my kid better' shit.... i shouldn't EVEN HAVE to worry about some fucked up idiot out there and how well they can drive when they're fucked up...

make your excuses and feel special all you want, BUT YOU'RE NOT.

From what I've experienced and one test done on the subject (I'll find the link to the study and repost it) driving high doesn't actually harm your ability to do normal driving, but if a situation came up (Such as a car about to hit you, or other unusual situations), you won't be able to react as quickly.

So you're probably safe if you're driving a few blocks from one house to another, but I'd recommend not driving high in any area that will take extra attention.

Man that's not fuckin cool. That is so god damned dangerous, and I bet the reason you think you're driving better is because you're fucking STONED. Seriously, the complete lack of judgement and responsibility involved in making such a stupid decision is what gives us pot-smokers a bad rep.

how many fatalities are cause by people under the influence of weed?

cops catch ppl on weed because they are driving too slow in the slow lane.

drinking & smoking are complete opposites.

Im always driving stoned cos im not really ever sober. And i drive fine. My reactions probably are slowed down a little, but it makes no differnce as i drive a van... not exactly a sports car... so im never going too fast.. And im a safe driver anyways.

Never drive drunk though, thats something i cant stand.

You can always tell the drunks from everyone else, they swurve everywhere, the stoned people dont. I had a idiot infront of me the other day down the A130 and he was obviously drunk, he was swurving everywhere, im surprised he didnt cut someone up over taking him. People that drive drunk dont deserve to drive, simple as that.

And that totally pisses me off........slow drivers. They may not be involved in accidents, but they cause accidents because everyone wants to pass them. They also cause traffic jams. If it was in bumfuck it wouldn't be an issue, but I live in density central.

I'd drive a little high, but if I'm too stoned, I won't.

well slipknot, we all see where you're coming from. agree to disagree. i drive FINE stoned, i probably drive worse sober cause i dont pay as much attention to it...i've been told by several people i drive better blazed, and also DONT EVEN try to compair it to alcohol man. alchohol is completely different. i can snap out of a high pretty quick if i need to, not alcohol. do you ever get sick and take cough medicine...sure you KNOW you can handle a car fine. on a legal standpoint if you got in an accident or something and you were under the influence of cough medicine, im sure they would try to schnaze you...

what i am getting at is yes, when i drive blazed i am impaired, and under the influence of a 'drug', but the effects in which that drug have on my control of the vehicle are so minor, especially to the types of roads i drive on

go ahead flame this all you want slipknot, but just try to see where we are coming from, i'm acknowledging your views, and trying on your shoes, just think about it...

i went to Giant once totally stoned. driving there was really insane. luckily it was only like, 1 mile down my street. when i walked thru the ailes, i swear the shelves get getting closer and closer together. then i would start giggling. it was 12 am so i think everyone there was lifted.
i wouldnt drive high again though because i dont want to hurt anyone on the road.

11-22-2006, 01:39 PM
I'll admit that I do drive high on ocassion. But that is usually on my way to work. However, there is a difference between being just high and being stoned. Being stoned is very close to being drunk, I don't care what anyone says. To me, there is a difference between smoking a joint (depending on your tolerance level) waiting a half hour or so and driving, and smoking 2 blunts and then trying to drive. I know that when I smoke 2 or more blunts of good weed, my mind goes to jello and I like that feeling, but not good when driving where all your concentration is needed.

I completely agree with Slipknot on this one. You should not drive when stoned. I don't care if you can keep the car in the correct lane without swirving around and hitting other cars... that's not all driving is. You need to aware at ALL times of what is going on around you, and you're just not in that state of mind when blazed.

And this talk about only doing it during the day and only short distances is bull shit. That's when you need to be more aware then ever. Pedestrian are mostly out during the day. And oh what about kids in your residential areas? They fly onto the road on bikes, skateboards, scooters all the time. You won't be able to react.

It's fucking stupid.
