wiring diagram question

ok,im looking at the wire diagram and the green wire thats a ground do i need that and what do you hook up to.because was not wired when bought it and was supposed to be fully assembled,the light does work though can anyone explain that :confused:

well your ground wire is green or copper the ground on the back of an outlet is solid copper if wired right so here we go your ground will derect any loose current to the closest means of a ground solid steal or a good fixture is sufficent ground but what you might want is to wire your green ground your white neutral and your black feed to a 3 prong plug like 1 off an extention cord this way if your wireing is bad it will trip the breaker and shut off electric on that circit this will prevent fires witch are very possible with water and lights well good luck

oh by the way the diagram shows the ground to the fixture screwed in then countinues one piece of copper to the outlet

Most are grounded directly to the ballast or not at all in some cases. On my 1000W and 400W niether are.

electrician on call ya you only need to make a connection to the outle vea ground screw in juntion box gr to gr make sure they connect helps in isolating shock shortist location back to neutral if in doubth use a gfi

None of my digital ballasts have the fixture grounded except my newest ones which use the Hydrofarm connector (3 prong, grounded to the fixture) instead of being hardwired.

The ground from the plug must be grounded to the ballast via a screw or wire ,,,,, it must be grounded , if something fails , simply put , it will knock you on you ass if not killing you. ALL electric must be grounded if made out of metal. UL ,CE etc
white to white , black to black , and ground is green the world around.
