my doc prescribed be klonopin for anxiety. so far its been great and has worked well except it upsets my stomach and sometimes sends me right to the bathroom. is this a normal side effect of all benzodiazipines or is there another one that wont produce this specific side effect that would be better suited for me? Thanks.

Hey, Ross. Anything's possible with your own unique body chemisty and a new medicine, especially one that relaxes your nervous system. But both the drug books I have here say usually just the opposite happens with that medicine and its chemical cousins: consipation and difficulty going to the bathroom (because of the slow-down effect). Everyone's different, though, so you never know. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility. (That's the med I use on occasion for severe anxiety and it's never affected me that way.)
Do you think it might be possible that what you're experiencing is a consequence of the anxiety itself and not the new medicine? I'm going to provide you this link so you can read all about it at a good drug information site. And be forewarned that we'll probably take this thread down after you've had a chance to read it because we try and maintain a cannabis-only drug talk policy here. Definitely talk to the doctor who prescribed it and tell him/her what's going on. Good luck!

thanks for the reply. sorry that was a non-cannabis thread but i couldnt find another message board on the internet on this subject and thought there would be some wise people to ask here. but have no fear, i am an avid marijuana smoker whos loves bong rips!!! marijuana is good for when i have mild anxiety. i only take the strong stuff (pills) when things get a little to intense.

Klonopin is great for the intense stuff, lol! I took it for about two months as a PRN, but it's easy to abuse, so take it only when needed... Yes!
Much Love,
