well, ive been trying to get a decent grow going for a while and i think this is it. one of my friends is willing to throw down a nice chunk of cash to get the grow going and ill just pay him back with profits (he doesnt even smoke).

so, im looking to make a veg/ flower chamber using this http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=57023-16315-SB60OALP&lpage=none or we might just build one, not sure yet. i plan on scroging 2 plants in soil using a 250w hps and a 23w 27k air purifying cfl and then veg using 2 85w 65k and 2 27w 55k. ill cut holes from intake/ outake fans and also have oscillating fan on the inside. also some sort of ionizer or something for the smell

i chose hashberry after i saw it in hightimes and since its so cheap. im going to order them, then veg them in a tub i have until i get a female, clone and then put the clones in the growbox and just keep it cycling. thoughts/ advice appreciated.

IMO those cabs. are to small for a 250W hps. I think you'd be better off building your own with that kind of money.
If I knew how to upload a picture on here I'd show you some of the stuff that I've built over the years.
Belive it or not, but one of the best ways to go about this is on trash day!
Cruise the hood in your car/truck on trash day, and find yourself a good useable peice of furniture that can be reworked.
thats what I've done for my mother chamber.
People will have no clue, as long as your smart about it.
As for the bloom chamber, that was a diffrent story.
I resorted to building my own peice of furniture for that. Not an easy task, but well worth it in the end :)

at home depot they have these cabs called C13 they are the perfect growing box just cut your holes and add fans and light and its good to go, and best thing about is its already painted reflective white so no reflective material needed and its cheaper.

its a portable closet if that helps....

C 13's are nice, but they are still allot of work to set up. You need to replace the back with normal wood or it can be to wobbly and the cardboard backing can get rotted after a few grows, also light proofing the doors are very tricky for many and once they are put up they really should stay in that area it seems like after you drag them apart they are never the same again.
Also, you need to do all of the vent holes and plug in holes and threw the wood and your not just using a razor like on small cabs.
I have a double c24, meaning I took two 72x47x19 cabinets and put them together with a 1K light and believe me it was some work. I also have a small 30x30x19 cabinet with a 175MH and 6x23 CFL's for veg/mother with fan and passive intake so I have a little experience with the cab growing.

sounds nice, but i couldnt find any c13 cabs at lowes. im sure that ill end up building the frame from wood i have and then covering it with some plywood or maybe cardboard in some spots.

which would be better?

85w/65k/4200 lumens cfl for $20
or
85w/50k/5000 lumens envirolite style for $16

hey klup - I'm making a C13 sized cab from bits of scrap wood and cardboard, have a look it might give you some ideas. I should be finnishing it off tomorrow with a plastic zipper door - just waiting for another 200w CFL to arrive.

dont use anything that will catch fire easily, imo cardboard is bad lol. buy a hydrohut or somethin. u can do wonders with 2x4's, ply wood kalk and a good plan.

Yeah agree wiv ya JackdaWack - but I use CFLs and I can handle them even when they've been on for hours and my reflectors are made out of cardboard covered in mylar (yes I'm a cheap-skate).

But you are right - saftey first, make sure you have a smoke detector in your grow room :)

damn, i was dog sitting at this guys house with my mom. it was like a 3o minute drive from our house and she didnt trust me alone because last time i had a little party while she was there. so i stayed there with her the last couple nights. its actually really nice, he has a little garden and a pond and a litte green house. it was pretty sick backyard, but the inside has a huge plasma flatscreen and surround sound. i watched some movies and live concerts, it was nice. unfortunately i have a very small little LST plant im vegging with a single 27w bulb. i had to set it up in his bathroom, but my mom wouldnt go in there since i was in his room.

short story, he came home early, i was asleep in the guest room since my mom had left, he was pissed i was there, then he found the plant, said he was calling the cops cause he 'knew what this was', i said it was colts foot, i called my friend and he came and got me out of there. later i found out he was a former judge, fuck. he said he knows 'the marijuana' and called my mom. drugs laws are so fucked up

mad rambling

sorry to hear about that - although I didn't understand most of it :) I'm sure he wont grass you to the cops for 1 little plant. the cops would think he was time-wasting. he's just trying to scare ya.

unfortunately my grow situation changed, so ill be using a 150w 65k flourescent plus 2 26w 65k for veg and a 150w hps and 2 42w 27k for flowering. i was wondering what would be a nice screen size for that, since im going to scrog and basic yield estimates. thanks.

cant estimate yeild... it depends how well you grow it

which would be better?

85w/65k/4200 lumens cfl for $20
or
85w/50k/5000 lumens envirolite style for $16Neither. But if you must use one of those 2, use 4200K. It's the lesser of 2 evils.

4200K is in the yellow/green area, and just about useless.

5000K is in the blue/green area, but is even less usefull than 4200K.

Check this chart for spectral reference. (http://www.yahooka.com/forum/showpost.php?p=444409&postcount=3)

Use 5200K-7000K (stark white, daylight, and "hotter") for veg, 2200K-2900K (warm white) for bud.

wow, so a 55k is better than a 65k?

i was planning on ordering from bghyrdro and i dont see any 55k so ill just use the 65. ive gotten 23w 55k cfls at home depot before, so ill just put some of those in there.

with 250+ watts over a 2x2 screen im hoping to yield around a qp off one plant. seem reasonable at least?

Volker

wow, so a 55k is better than a 65k?Yep. But 5500K is an "oddball" spectrum in flouros: "stark white". If ya got 'em, use 'em. If you can find 'em, I prefer stark white over daylight. Caveat: some "stark white" flouros are 5200K.

with 250+ watts over a 2x2 screen im hoping to yield around a qp off one plant. seem reasonable at least?Ummm.. 4 sq. ft is spreading 250W of CFT a bit thin. With one plant, depending on the plant, you're probably going to want to limit the CFTs to about a 2 sq. ft area, like maybe 18" x 18". Or only use the center of the screen. Or whatever. I'm using 249W of CFT flouro on my 2 sq. ft scrog (http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=93029) w/5 - now 4 (killed a boy) - plants, and am expecting/hoping somewhere around a qp. But will be happy with a joint. The space they're in is 4.5 sq. ft (18" x 36"), but I set the lights to "concentrate" on about 2 sq. ft.

And ya GOTTA keep the plant short.

yeah, i know i probably wouldnt need all that screen size, but i thought it would be better to have too much than too little. i plan on cloning so that i can harvest appr. every 2 months, so 3 Os or so every 2 months wouldnt be bad for personal use. would it be better to add another plant in there and use all the screen?

Volker

would it be better to add another plant in there and use all the screen? That really depends on the strain. With something like Lemon Skunk - or other short, squat indica - you could easilly do 4 plants with that screen and 250W of flouro. If you have a sativa dom, you might barely do 1 by LSTing the hell out of it.

right now, all i have is bagseed, but i might order 'the church' from drchronic, i think its indica dominant. has anyone ever tried drchronics seeds? they look nice

im trying to 150hps around here but i think ill just have to order it
