Im actually kindve in this boat. My docter has made a couple of comments about my breathing being raspy, and knowing that I dont smoke cig's he said this last time that I saw him that if it still sounded bad next time he wanted to do a breathing test. Before that happens I think im going to have to cop to being a daily toker. Oh well what can he do. Im almost as old as he is so I figure ill just be straight with him. I wont tell him about the fact that I like to experiment with other peoples pill's though, that's my business. Just my two cents. peace
My doctor knows i smoke cigsheavily, smoke weed heavily, take magic mushrooms and LSD on occasion and also cocaine. You know why i told him it all? So if anything happens to me they know not to give me a drug that could interfer with anything i've already taken, and ultimately, im fine with him knowing, he cant tell anyone and im not a liar. I also drink but not heavily.

Tell the doctor the truth! I was pleasantly surprised when my (oh so straight) doctor admitted to me that he used to use pot in college! He still wouldn't give me a recommendation for mmj (I'm in Cali and a "legal" user) because he's too afraid of the Feds. (I don't blame him, small town and he has a lot to lose if busted) Doctors are prohibited from busting you, so there is no risk there (they would lose their medical licence if they busted you). Tell him/her the truth- it may save your life during an OD or other emergency!

My Doctor: So, do you drink on the weekends?
Me: Yep.
Doc: Smoke pot?
Me: word.
Doc: Alrite well be careful. Have a nice day:D
Real conversation. It's all about being honest

Well, I only see one doctor and that's just to get prescription refills and he knows that I smoke cannabis. He's all for the use of cannabis for medical reasons and he even asked how much I was paying once! He asked, how much for a 1/4 these days? Uhhh, like $60. :p
He's a good guy, I like him.

I told my doc i drink at weekends which is true.
He asked if I smoke I said no.
He's never asked about any drugs though, maybe cuz im too young.

When my doctor asks if I smoke, I always say only weed. I think if they are going to properly diagnose me, they need all the facts. If my lungs sound bad, and he thinks I dont toke, he might think its something else.

I have never been asked those questions, but if they ask me if I smoke I'm going to say yes, theres no reason to say no when the doctors probably gonna find out anyways :p.

Just tell the Dr the truth. Mine laughed at me and I told her. She replied "I'm only worried about real drugs that you snort or inject". Doctors know that weed is not a big deal health wise. She said she is more concerned about alcohol by far, so dude, just tell it like it is. Word of advice, blacking out 4 days a week due to alcohol is bad for your liver and when that starts going, it really sucks! You feel like shit and you turn all yellow.

26/female, lots to lose if anybody finds out, I say NO. I admit to smoking cigarettes finally... but I usually lie about my drinking & weed habits (reduce the alcohol and say no, I don't smoke weed)

I always tell my doc everything. It's confidential, and it could help them determine the best treatment for you. They're not going to call the cops, tell your parents, or any other thing to be worried about.
Be honest...it's all good.

Well, I haven't been in a situation where I was asked at the doctors. Since I've been caught by my parents, I'd go ahead and admit to smokin' the herb. If he ain't a quack he'll no theres no problem.

Im 21 and I tell the doctor the truth if he seems like an understanding doctor. I have gotten a lecture from a doctor because I said I smoke a pack a day. I know it's unhealthy so leave me the fuck alone. So now if it looks like I'm going to get a lecture about cigs and weed I just say no to all their questions. If the doctor doesn't look like an ass who is going to tell me about how evil my life is than I go ahead and tell him the truth.

I told my doctor that I toke because I think its important to be honest where your health is concerned. Most doctors will tell you that toking is a lot more common than many people think. Mine told me that app. 15% of her patients are upfront about ther pot smoking and she suspects another 10% smoke but lie about it. That's 25% of her business that smoke weed!
Doctors are not allowed to tell anyone anything, period. If they did they'd get fired cos they'd be breaking the rules.

Dont lie to your doctor he/she is there to help you not get you in shit
I went to my doctor a few months back cuz i fucked up my hip after a night of pillin and smokin. i told him id smoked a bit a hash, and he took some blood, a few weeks later the results come back and they tested positive for opiates,i told him i had taken pills and that i wouldnt go near hard drugs.
he said that the amount found in my blood was too substantial to be from anything added to the pills. (can anyone explain?)
i got a letter in the post a couple days later referring me to a drugs councillor
so for a while my doc thought i was a smack head and to convince him i wasnt i had to get blood taken every 5 weeks for about 6 months.
i was working 3 weeks back and was drinkin dodgy buliders tea (the water was green) and i started vomitin (top and bottom) really was in a bad way
i went to see him and he took blood again, i got the results yesterday, and when i walked into his office he shook my hand and said
"well done for conquering such an evil habit"
as the results come back negative for everything
so well done me im no longer a smack head
but seriously your docs there to look out for you

^^ I would have just gone to another doctor, why did you have to take blood tests for him, did they charge you for those blood tests. That whole situation would have been to shady for me. And I don't see why he didn't believe you about the opiates.
GollyWog420

no i didnt get charged for the blood tests, hes a friend of the family and said he was just lookin out for me cuz his nephew died of a heroin overdose last year
understandable i think

I def. tell my doc EVERYTHING. I work with him everyday, and we are very honest with each other about diagnoses and whatnot.
Docs can't tell. If they do and get caught, who would trust a doc like that?

I always tell them exactly what I do, Its your doctor, and he needs to know certain things, because if you lie, he might prescribe a drug that may clash with your personal stash, which is never good, plus they take blood tests alot so they will know anyway.

Your doctor isnt allowed to show your shit to other people, just like a shrink, plus, if you just tell him, theres no proof.

unless there's someone i really dont' want to hear what i'm saying (namely my mom, actually that's about the only person i care if they know or not) then i have no problem with telling the truth? i mean what's the worst that could happen? they can't take you to jail because you admitted to using drugs... i mean clearly even if they did you'd come out the winner and more than likely the doctor the loser... you'd get off free cuz there's no way it would hold up in court, and the doctor would be facing the loss of his practicing degree for breaking patient-doctor confidineality...

Not even employers can access medical information without a release. Unless you are getting a security clearance anytime soon, you don't have anything to worry about. Tell doctors the truth about what you put in your body.

well i'm more than positive that alot of doctors break that confidientiality, the question, and possible problem, is who they're blabbing to... i mean just about everyone talks about what happened at their job that day, atleast at some point in their working life... i'm sure doctors are no diffrent..
edit: if i were a doctor and some guy came in cuz he somehow managed to glue a dildo in his ass, you can bet i'd be going home telling my wife the story about it and laughing...

all good though
as said before, in order to get the most accurate diagnosis and avoid harmfull side effects of combonations of drugs you should tell your doctor. Your doctor is not affiliated with the police and there is no incentive for him to rat you out. It is both illegal as well as dumb because the doctor will lose business if your in the clink. Doctors know better than anyone that they cant really dictate what you do to your body (people refuse to take their medication all the time). they can only reccomend and advise. Doctors are your friend, unless you go to Dr. kevorkian for check ups, dont take perscriptions he writes.
