Ok i have a closet that is 2ft wide by 2 and a half deep and just under 7 ft tall, I'm going to use the top foot for placing a ventilation fan but it needs to be quiet as its running in my bedroom and i want to be able to sleep any ideas?

The closet currently is coated with mylar and i have a 400w hps plus will be aquiring 2 125w cfls for veg.

I'm going to be growing pp in hydro bubbler's im just germinating the seeds now three have popped in 12 hours i want to grow them to be massive plants so may veg for 5 weeks. Has anyone got any ideas? the room gets guite hot i have a desk fan in there to circulate some air and i also have big co2 tanks for my paintballing so will spray some every few days to give them some co2.

cheers

I also have problems with fan noise at night,as i'm doing a stealth grow i have the lights on from 12 night to 12 day to minimise the risk of getting busted.I'm only using a pc fan about 12 v and it's still fucking noisy.I don't really have any advise for keeping the noise down apart from hacking it, as for the heat i keep a bowl of water (prefarably carbonated)under the fan with the fan blowing over the top this cools the air significantly and will reduce it by a few celcius, hope this info helps cheers!:rasta:

ok i installed a 100mm inline fan which is silent it only flows 70m3 a hour but it dropped my temps near the plants to around 26c, but near the light at the top of the cupboard temps are 42c im going to install a 180m3 fan in the cupboard to try and reduce this some more if this doesnt work then il have to buy a special reflector and hook the fan up to it i guess to get rid off some more heat, does anyone know how many cubic feet i need to shift to cool my grow room, cheers

I know this thats why im trying to cool the grow room down so by the time they get near the top it doesnt get too hot have you got any tips on how big a fan i need the room is 50cm by 70cm by 180cm, i read you need to remove the air every 2mins completly, when i get my new fan i will be removing loads of air from the room but will it drop the temps enough? or is there anything else i can do?

I would try a 172 CFM fan or a 280 Squirral cage fan, but it will be somewhat noisy. Also, You will have major problems trying to grow 6 plants in that small of an area. 2x2 correct?

its about 2 ft by 2 and a half deep ive grown 6 in a space this big before ive just bought a 100mm 160cm3 rvk fan which ive just got to pickup and install but it should be able to vent all the air from the room quickly and keep the temps down i can even run both fans so its flowing over 200m3

Hey nice improvisation, does one bowl of water keep it down significantly the whole day, or do you constantly top of with cooler water. I'm guessing that you don't.

Simply calculate the volume of the growing environment to the nearest cubic metre. This is done by multiplying:

Length x Width x Height = Volume of your room in cubic metres (m³) and then multiply the answer by 20.

For example, a room of 3 metres x 4 metres x 2.5 metres high = 30m³ and 30m³ x 20 changes per hour = 600m³ per hour. Once this has been calculated, you can select the correct fan.

If you decide to vent from a hood, avoid cool tubes, try and get an aircooled hood instead, with an open reflector, you lose 10% of the light through any glass shield, not too mention that with shit reflectors the light will bounce all over the place. Cool tubes are actually more expensive, the good one's anyway. Than a good quality open reflector. Keep in mind yeah that even if you are exhausting out of the hood, which takes care of the bulb heat, the outside environment i.e inside the grow room, will need to be exhausted somewhat, you have a 70m3 fan already, which makes you more or less sorted. Just a case of cooling that bulb. What type of fan is that, RVK, or something else? I'd go for silence over just about anything else as well.

you cant hear it the fans were noisy but with the ducting attached they are silent there is no glow from the room the only way of telling is the ducting coming out the top of the cupboard its real good. im quite please i looked into aircooled hoods and they are near £100 a mate offered me a cooltube for 30 so il prob just go with it il use the 70m3 fan for venting the room and the other for the cool tube all in all i think i can get the temps to a stable 25c everywhere in the cupboard.

all 10 seeds have germinated in under 72 hours and one has it first little leaves starting to show i have some cfls ready to help them for there first few weeks. then its onto the hps.

ok after much work the room has stabilized at 26c, at what height should i put the seedlings into the bubblers and turn them on, currently they are just on a plate in the rockwool cubes they are between 2-3iches tall and a 100% germination rate, the 400w hps light is 80cm away from them and i have 2 cool white cfls near them is this ok for light or do they need to be higher and closer to the light? will post pics soon cheers.
