Hello, new thread - I'm LSTing now, and I'm wonder if anyone has anymore suggestions (pictures are attached). Let me know if they look right, if I should keep bending them down as the days go by. I'm hoping new shoots will begin emerging soon now that they being LST'ed.
Before everyone goes and criticizes me about my lack of lighting I have to first say, I'm really poor, I cannot afford expensive lighting.
I have 4 CFL's on them now and someone suggested I get 4 more ASAP. So I'm planning on getting them up tomorrow.
Any other lighting suggestions? I cannot drill holes in the closet walls for wiring or anything.
I was thinking of getting 2 double 48" flourecent fixtures and 4 kitchen and bath tubes to go in them. Let me know if that's not needed if I have 8 CFL's on them.
I was looking at this thread and a lot of people are discouraging him, telling him he'll barely get enough for a joint. My plants are similar to this but not at all showing signs of sex, I think mine have more of a chance, does anyone else have ideas on that? Here's the thread: http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=89384
Am I just wasting my time? I don't want to start over if the plants have some chance of at least making an ounce (if they are females).

I wrote a massive post explaining everything your asking on the other thread.. look through the other one... btw theres no need to make a new thread every time you have a new q man... not being harsh man.. just post them all in the same one..

One of the things I like about this hobby, is that there is not only one way to do things... you can do things many, many ways.
Experimentation, and having fun is the key.
So WTF if one doesn't get 5 pounds in the 1st grow... fuck it.
Learning experience... that's the best!
So far, I see your LST cool.
I see you're using "twine" or some sort of string.
That's fine.
In my experience, something called (I think) 'garden wire' works much easier. Not better, just, easier to handle.
Garden wire is like those little wires you use to close trash bags... but they're covered in a green plastic sheath. You can bend them into shape, and they work really good for LSTing.
Also, I see that you're passing the string/twine under the pot (I think)... it's easier if you punch your pot on top with a nail or something... then you've got holes on the top rim of the pot to tie your string and/or garden wire down. That's easier than having to run the wire downstairs and everything. (( Props to Zandor for this idea... ))
RE::: Lights
Look man, the more lights the merrier. It isn't like you will not be successful. Your plants will grow with the present lights... heck, they'll grow with less lights. But again, the more lights, the better. Simple as that.
WalMart sells these CFL bulbs... they consume 42Watts, but they're comparable to 150Watts. That's a neat bulb to have. I think they cost like $12 each or something.
Also, you can do your own wiring... really simple. So, if you can get old lamps somewhere, that you can take the sockets and cables out, that'd be great. Then, you have more sockets! :)

Do you have a fan in there?
Airflow is good.

Do your pots have holes @ the bottom?
You don't want to drown your plants.

RE: LSTing (again)
I see that the base of your plant isn't tied down.
Remember this is a weed, so it *will* grow regardless, but, IMO, you should tie down the base of your plant to the other side.
I always imagined that, if you have the plant bent down like that, the roots are getting stressed because, well, the plant is slanted.
But if you hold the base semi-upright, then you can continue to tie down the plant further and further and it won't look that wierd.
(( again, these are suggestions... the aren't "do or die" things. :) ))

Well, that's it for now.
I realize this post is... kind of... a disaster regarding the arrangement of words, but it's reeeally early in the morning. ;)
Hope you do good Hairy dude named Bob that Loves the Mob,

.
PS: Don't let anyone discourage you! I'm *sure* that the first person that put a screen over a plant got flamed to Jupiter's Hell and back... but if it were not for experimentation, where would we be?! :)
PSS: Reading the other thread you provided, I see this:::
this one here won't yield enough for a good joint ...
I'm all with Image Reaper on this one. He's righ, IMO.
It isn't that he wants to discourage, what he wants to do is be truthful.
I mean, be sad now for a little while... versus being super bummed out 2 months down the road. ???
Any advice that the Image Reaper "rips" out ((:p) is good advice. :)

I think they are already starting to look better, u still definately need more lights to cover the whole plant, but i can see that its already starting to fill out some.. i wouldnt worry about being discouraged because of the way it looks now.. it wontt look that bare for long, just be sure and increase wattage.. im going to include a pic of my plant for u and try an get in all the lights i have.. look an see how filled out it is, and ill post a before pic (2nd pic) of how bad it was doing at a month old, it was looking bare as hell and look at it now only 3 weeks later.. good luck

if youre looking for more yield I would suggest that you top the plant a few times. I have a plant right now that came from same genetics as my last plant, but i topped it and lst's it and its making easily 3x what the plant with just lsting did. All in all experiment, see what works best for you especialy if you have a few plants to try things on and see what works best. I topped mine when it was about 3 nodes high, it basicly split into two main stalks, and I just kept topping the new tips everytime they grew a good few inches. Also try 2 or 3 CFL lights. When I veg I use a heavy blue spectrum CFL (6500K) and a reflector that you can buy at walmart and so far vegged 3 very healthy bushy plants under just that bulb. Keep the bulb close as well, as close as you can w/o burning the leaves. That's my 2 cents. Good luck! Keep us posted.

I am using a really soft yarn but I was thinking of getting something like the Garden Wire (I wasn't sure if they existed, but now that I know, I will invest in some)
Everyone is telling me not to top because it's so mature (day 45 of veg) but they say next time I definitely need to. Does anyone else think I should top the plant when it's so far into veg?
Everyone is so helpful on this board. I'll try not the post any new threads and I'll just keep it to one. I just wasn't sure if people would read the old ones. Thanks a lot, esp gmoney for giving me so much advise. I'm amping the wattage up tonight and I'll take pictures for more input and post them on this thread. Thanks again.

I think soft yarn is good, or those stretchy plastic ribbons that florists use... you should avoid strangling your plant with something that won't 'give' as it grows thicker.
I only LST plants once I determine that they will become mothers. I make a little collar with a tab with duct tape around the stem, punch a hole in the duct tape, and tie things to that- I've been using mini bungee cords recently because they already have hooks one the ends and are [durrr] nice and stretchy. I just don't want to run the risk of damaging the stem and possibly letting disease into the plant.
