smoking anything is not good for your lungs ... common sense ... HOWEVER, recent studies have indicated marijuana smoke dilates (opens) bronchia, rather than closing them down, like cigarette smoke does ... also, there is some new research indicating marijuana smoke (in lab rats) MAY be helpful in fighting cancer ... supposedly, THC causes the cancer cell to detach from the healthy cell, and slough off ... this is in NO way saying pot is good for you, in any case, it is highly recommended to use a 'vaporizer' ... vaporizing pot, or ingesting (eating) it, are the safest methods ... :smokin:

Its a fact that nobody had ever died directly from Marijuana, such as an overdose or somethin. And its never been directly related to lung cancer. But I'm sure lifetime smokers have some kind of lung problems. It can also damage the throat. When I used to smoke schwag I would get some hardcore soar throats. So make you own decision about it, Ive made mine.:stoned:

Marijuana smoke will cause cancer just like tobacco smoke or leaf smoke or Captain Crunch smoke will cause cancer. But the drug itself will not. Since marijuana mess with your brain chemistry, you will be a little hazy the day after. It does kill brain cells but it would take a whole week of heavy smoking to equal one night of binge drinking. And it is not physically addictive (although since the experience is so pleasant, many people can become mentally addicted to it.)

Marijuana smoke contains more tar than do ciggaretts, and ingesting tar cannot be good for you. Image Reaper hit the nail on the head, imo.

...No.

The smoke does NOT cause cancer, it can prevent it.

And it does NOT kill brain cells, it actually helps new cells grow.

I'll post links later.

I would like to see those links because last time I checked, the carbon dioxide or whatever the hell it is from smoke causes cancer. And it does kill braincells. A study done this year found conclusive evidence. Mind you, it was not enough to completely disable a person but they said that daily smoking for extended periods of time will cause brain damage.

The honest is answer, is nobody really knows 100% how dangerous or how safe marijuana is. You can thank your government for that. I've smoked for a couple of years and I've not really had any problems with breathing. I smoke everyday too. I'm probably a little lazier, but pot is known to do that too. It's really whatever you want to believe, because for all we know, it's bad for you.

I know several people in their fifties and sixties who still smoke marijuana and have enjoyed it their entire lives...they're some of the most mellow people I know. And oh yeah, nothing's wrong with their health...So toke all you want.

you can probably find as many studies that says smoking cannabis can contribute to lung cancer as you can find that says it doesnt contribute to lung cancer so guess you can believe whichever you choose.
or ask your doctor about it, seeing how lung cancer can develop in people that may have never smoked anything would probably be more concerned about dragging that oxygen bottle around when you get older as it is bad for your lungs whether you develop cancer is anybodys guess.

I have cancer, and I'm smoking to reduce the symptoms of chemotherapy. Cannabis is a fucking miracle drug. Luckily I'm going my last cycle of chemotherapy this week and I'll be on my way to being cured. If it wasn't for cannabis, all I could do lie on my bed, feeling sick and nausious. Instead I am able to go out and know my symptoms are being relieved by cannabis.

Cancer strikes when you least expect it. Cannabis could contribute to the possibility of lung cancer, but you could get a different form of cancer that has nothing to do with your lungs. I can't explain how the hell I got testicular cancer, no one can. Just happened randomly. Even if you smoke a lot of cannabis, you don't nearly smoke as much as a cigarette addict smokes cigarettes, so you don't have a lot to worry about.

Yeah, I agree with Billionfold's answer.
