Well I have been planning for a while to set up a grow room in my attic, only problem is it is flocked with asbestos (all over the floor). Itâ??s also incredibly dirty and without electrical wiring.

My questions are what should I do about this, should I create a floor from cardboard? How hard would it to be to get wires from the ceiling of this floor into the floor of the attic to create my own electrical outlet (with no experience)? Would this be a fire hazard? Where would I find a lot of cheap cardboard? Also, would one of those common white-material masks work fine to stop the asbestos from entering my lungs as I work?

I am very dedicated and willing to make a floor of cardboard, clean the dusty asbestos room and create an electrical outlet.

Feedback will be much appreciated on this annoying set of problems.

I dont think its actually asbestos, its called glass wool pretty sure they're not the same thing.
if you want to turn your attic into a grow room, do it properly (means alot of hard work) your going to need to put in a decent wooden floor (the sheets are fairly cheap) fully clean it, make it sterlie and build a manageable grow room that is easy to clean and suits your requirements. with the electricity, it should be easy enough to drill a small hole in the ceiling and run a wire up through there
hope this was of some help :)
good luck

If it really is asbestos then you should not be living there and don't
go up there working getting it airborne ... not good

even if its glass fiber you should read this :

Yeah you are right about it being glass wool, and the health problems are annoying. Especially with the amount of time I will be up there separating my grow room from it, even with simple breath mask. I will probably be using GollyWog420's idea and make a wood floor for the grow area and the rest will be sealed off with a lot of cardboard and duct tape. Also I will be filtering air with HEPA filter and filter with an Ionizer.

Are there any other thoughts on this?

Go buy some cheap ass plywood and throw it down :)

Please dont worry about the plants, pot is hard to kill - you how ever my friend are not designed to breath in fiber glass :D

Asbestos is fucking dangerous you need someone to get it removed.
It will seriously raise the chance of cancer if your directly exposed.

In college me and my rommies did a grow in the attic, We had some old Type of insulation up there. It was foamy, greenish grey and sorta looked like paper mulch. We took some of it in a bag to HomeDepot and were told it wasn't abestose. We moved as much as we could of the dusty shit over to one end of the house. No MASKS JUST T shirts, that wasn't vry fun Sealed that end really well .. 2 tarps/ and then covered floors and walls of the grow area with Black and white plastic wrap, So not too much of it drifted into the grow area. and any part of grow area was covered with plastic.

We then cut up a Ping Pong tabble into 6 strips of wood. and made a make-shift floor (ontop of the plastic). our grow worked out fairly well. the unknown insulation didn't seem to cause any problem,s that we haden't faced before with growing in the basment of the same house.
